
India: One dead, 8 injured after Bangalore-Kamakhya Superfast Express derails in Odisha
"One person has died in the incident...8 people injured needed a referral and have been shifted...An inquiry is being done of the incident," Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, District Magistrate told reporters.
Earlier in the day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that two passengers from his State were injured in the train accident.
"Sharing an update on the incident involving Train 12551. There are no casualties from Assam. 2 persons from the State - Willson Digal of Udalguri and Amiran Nisha of Baksa are injured and undergoing treatment. Both are out of danger," he said in a post on X.
Eleven coaches of the Bangalore-Kamakhya Superfast Express derailed near Nergundi Station at around 11.54 am on Sunday.
Meanwhile, HS Bajwa, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road Division, told reporters that the teams from NDRF and SDRF were at the accident site.
"Today Bangalore-Kamakhya Express derailed near Nergundi Railway Station...A special train is being run on the same route which will go to the same destination...After this, the restoration work will commence...We will provide the ex-gratia from the railway...We have also arranged food, water, first aid and buses...NDRF and SDRF are here...An enquiry will be done," Bajwa said.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his government is in touch with the Odisha Government and Railways.
"I am aware of the incident involving 12551 Kamakhya Express in Odisha. @CMOfficeAssam is in touch with the Odisha Government and Railways. We will reach out to each and every person who is affected," Assam CM said in a post on X.
Ashoka Kumar Mishra, CPRO, East Coast Railway said, "As far as we got the information, accident relief train, emergency medical equipment was sent. Senior officials are going to reach the spot soon. DRM Khurda Road, GM/ECoR and other higher level officials rushed to the spot. We will get to know the cause of derailment after the inquiry. Our first priority is to divert the trains waiting on the route and start the restoration work...".

Gujarat bridge collapse: Death toll climbs to 15, rescue operations continue
Padra: The death toll in the Gambhira bridge collapse incident in Gujarat's Vadodara has climbed to 15 with the recovery of three more bodies, an official said on Thursday. The official further informed that rescue operations are underway as four people remain missing. A section of the Gambhira bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand collapsed a day ago and fell into the Mahisagar river below. Vadodara Collector Anil Dhameliya told reporters, "The death toll stands at 15 now with recovery of 3 more bodies today. Four people remain missing. National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force are conducting search and rescue operations even till 4 km downstream. Two vehicles are stuck in the sludge at the incident site. We are seeking details from the public on those vehicles. There is rainfall, and the water level has risen in the river." On the truck hanging from the bridge, he said, "It is an empty tanker. If we move it, it could fall. The process to stabilise the tanker is underway as a rescue operation is going on right there under the bridge," he told reporters after visiting the site. The Collector and other officials of the local administration have been visiting and taking stock of the relief and rescue operations here since Wednesday. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is conducting the rescue and relief operations on the second day of the incident. Vadodara Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohan Anand said on Wednesday that a 10-15 metre slab in the middle of the bridge had collapsed. Two trucks, two pickup vans, and a rickshaw fell into the river while two vehicles remained stranded on the bridge. He said that nine people have been rescued, five of them have been referred to the SSG Hospital. "None of the people who have been rescued are critical," he said a day earlier. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of the deceased in the bridge collapse. The injured would be given Rs 50,000. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of those who died and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Uttarakhand helicopter crash: Seven passengers onboard feared dead
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India]: Seven passengers onboard a helicopter that crashed near the forested area of Gaurikund in Uttarakhand early on Sunday morning are feared dead, State Disaster Response Force said. According to preliminary information, the helicopter crashed due to bad weather. SDRF and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel are on the spot carrying out relief operations in the area and have been facing challenges as the site of crash is said to be a difficult and inaccessible area. According to the statement by UCADA, the helicopter that crashed around 5:20 am today carried six passengers and a pilot. The passengers in the helicopter hailed from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will investigate Sunday morning's helicopter crash near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag District, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated. The DGCA further said that, in light of the crash, the frequencies of helicopter operations to Char Dham would be reduced as a precautionary measure. Enhanced surveillance and operational reviews are also being carried out by DGCA. "Today, Aryan Aviation Bell 407 helicopter VT-BKA operating flight on sector Shri Kedarnath ji- Aryan Helipad, Guptkanshi, was involved in an accident. There were five passengers, one infant and one crew member on board. The helicopter took off at 05:19 hours for Guptkanshi and crashed near Gaurikund," DGCA said providing details of the crash. Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Department (UCADA), Sonika, stated that helicopter shuttle services in the area had been closed given the ongoing relief operations and weather conditions in the valley. Sonika further stated that the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) will reach the site soon. "Since the rescue operation is underway and seeing the weather conditions in the valley, our shuttle services have been closed. "At around 5:30 AM, we got the information that a helicopter, which was going from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi, could not be located. After some time, it was learnt that it had crashed near Gaurikund. Rescue operation is underway, SDRF teams have reached the spot. A total of 6 passengers and one pilot were on board the helicopter..." she further said.

India: Helicopter carrying 7 people crashes near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand
Dehradun: A helicopter carrying seven people on board and which was on its way to Gaurikund in Uttarakhand crashed on Sunday morning, Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) said. The incident took place at around 5:20 am when the chopper, with six passengers- five adults and one child and the pilot, which was going from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi, crashed near Gaurikund. Inspector General (Garhwal Range) Rajiv Swaroop said that the site of the crash was a very remote area Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have rushed to the spot, he said. According to UCADA, the passengers in the helicopter hail from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami posted on X, "Very sad news has been received about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. SDRF, local administration and other rescue teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the travellers."
