Alex Cooper mercilessly booed at Wrigley Field after rendition of ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame'

Baseball fans were less than impressed with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper's rendition of 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' at Sunday's fixture between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The podcaster, 30, was invited to perform the baseball classic during the seventh-inning stretch at Chicago's Wrigley Field.
In clips of the moment shared on X, Cooper appeared on the jumbotron where she began with her famous line, 'Alright, Daddy Gang,' to get the crowd excited.
She was initially met with loud cheers as the stadium sang along with her during the intro of the song. However, the support quickly descended into loud boos.
Despite the crowd's unhappy response, Cooper maintained her composure and made it through the entire song laughing and smiling.
Her performance luckily didn't sour Cubs fans' celebrations that night as the team went on to defeat the Cardinals 11-0.
Footage of her performance has been shared widely on X, with one commenter noting: 'You know it's bad when you get booed during the stretch. Most get booed for a bad rendition of the National Anthem, but this is pathetic.'
'That was brutal,' a second wrote.
Another, however, applauded her for doing it 'A cappella and without Auto-Tune.' 'I'll only say that she's a brave woman,' they added. 'The only question is whether she was drunk...'

Cooper had originally been in the Windy City to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with fans at an exclusive one-night party sponsored by her electrolyte drink Unwell Hydration and White Claw.
She shared pictures from the evening on Instagram, alongside the caption: 'Unwell in Chicago.'
Cooper rose to fame with her podcast Call Her Daddy, which she launched in 2018 with her then-friend and co-host Sofia Franklyn. The episodes became known for featuring candid conversations about sex, relationships, and personal experiences.
The audio series has since evolved into a mammoth success for Cooper, who last August inked a multiyear deal with SiriusXM reportedly worth up to $125 million.
Last month, Cooper released her two-part documentary, Call Her Alex, on Hulu. In the docuseries, she accused her former Boston University soccer coach of sexual harassment.
Her alma mater responded to her allegations in a statement, saying: 'Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office.
'We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.'

Today in Chicago History: Disco Demolition Night

Here's a look back at what happened in the Chicago area on July 12, according to the Tribune's archives. Is an important event missing from this date? Email us. Weather records (from the National Weather Service, Chicago) 1979: What was supposed to be a doubleheader between the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers at Comiskey Park turned into a debacle. The Sox lost the first game 4-1 but never got to the nightcap. Up to 50,000 people — admitted for just 98 cents and a disco record — showed up for a promotion in which radio personality Steve Dahl took to the field between games to blast thousands of dance-themed discs into oblivion. Nancy Faust, the White Sox's organist for 41 seasons, remembers: 'I was playing 'Disco Sucks' along with people chanting it until it turned unruly. I was to play 'Do You Think I'm Disco' for Steve Dahl and he just started singing it without the intro or anything. So then I just fell into place with him. I remember Bill (Veeck) pleading with the fans and how pathetic that was. Vintage Chicago Tribune: Nancy Faust's White Sox memories, from Harry Caray to 'Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye''I realized this was kind of serious when I remember looking across the field and seeing flames in the stands. So I thought, 'Oh my goodness, this is serious.' But, I mean, I don't think I realized the full impact until I watched the videos more recently of it.' Shortly after the detonation, Dahl's fans flooded the field. Tribune columnist Paul Sullivan was one of them. 'It was crazy running around on a Major League Baseball field, sliding into the bases and standing on the pitcher's mound,' he said. 'I grew up going to games at old Comiskey and never dreamed I'd ever be on the field. 'Some guy pretended he was an umpire at home plate, calling people safe and out as they slid home one after another. Everyone just looked at each other like, 'Can you believe this is happening?' 'Most of us were just running around, but someone managed to drag a batting cage out from center field and lit it on fire. People were jumping over the fire, which was fairly big. It's amazing no one got burned. Disco Demolition at 40: 2 views of an explosive promotion that caught fire at Comiskey Park in 1979'Harry Caray and the owner, Bill Veeck, got on the public address system and tried to coax us to go back to our seats, and I seem to recall them trying to get everyone to sing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game.' But nothing was going to work. 'It wasn't the kind of crowd that would take orders from Harry Caray. 'It was actually starting to die out when all of a sudden dozens of cops came in on horseback, making a gauntlet and marching out toward the outfield. I was well aware of the '68 convention riot, so that's when I decided to get off the field. 'I did grab a chunk of turf before I left. I've apologized profusely to Roger Bossard, the Sodfather, for that ever since. We completely tore apart his field, which caused the forfeiture of the second game.' Ninety minutes, 39 arrests for disorderly conduct and a half-dozen injuries later, the second game was called off. It was ruled a forfeit by the American League on Friday the 13th. Sox owner Bill Veeck didn't agree with the ruling, which was the first forfeit in the league in five years. 'This was a regrettable incident, but not sufficient grounds for forfeit,' he told reporters. 'But we won't go out of business because of it. It seems to me a Chicago paper ran a headline sayin' Dewey defeated Truman some years ago. Did they go out of business?' Barack Obama charging twice as much as Beyoncé for top VIP package at London show

Barack Obama is giving Beyoncé a run for her money by charging more than double her top VIP ticket price for his upcoming London show, with packages going up to £1,790. The 44th president of the United States faced a number of challenges while in office, from steering the country through the 2008 financial crisis and passing healthcare reform, to managing ongoing wars and tackling climate change. He remains a hugely popular figure worldwide, with many eager to hear his take on today's issues, and judging by the prices, his fans are willing to pay. Titled An Evening With President Barack Obama, it is scheduled to take place at London's O2 Arena on September 24, followed by a date at Dublin's 3Arena on September 26. The top VIP package includes a photo opportunity with Obama, subject to security clearance, and is limited to one photo for every two guests. The Standard has confirmed that these tickets will only be sold in pairs, so solo attendees won't have the option to purchase this package or be paired with strangers for the photo. The package also offers early entry, VIP check-in, a commemorative ticket, a copy of his memoir A Promised Land, premium seats near the front, and post-show access to a private club with a bar and live music. In comparison, global superstar Beyoncé's top VIP tickets for her recent Cowboy Carter tour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium cost around £860. Those included premium seats, early entry, exclusive merchandise, and access to private lounges. Beyoncé and Obama share history, with the singer performing the National Anthem at his second inauguration in 2013. Another VIP option offered by Obama is a £895 dining package that comes with a four-course meal at posh steakhouse Gaucho. This also includes a welcome glass of champagne, seating within the first ten rows, a copy of his book, and post-show access to the Seat Unique Club with a private bar and live entertainment. Other VIP prices start at £595, with standard tickets expected to be cheaper but likely to sell out fast. They go on sale at 10am on July 10. Organisers have also said that 100 tickets in each city will be set aside for charities. While Obama's shows are expected to fill up quickly, Beyoncé reportedly quietly gave away free tickets through London food banks after failing to sell out her six-date run in the capital.
