Cleveland Browns add first brown helmet in 79-year franchise history with Alpha Dawg – Here's what fans think
The Cleveland Browns are once again turning heads with their choice of headgear. On Wednesday, the team unveiled an all-new alternate helmet design that will debut during the 2025 NFL season.
Dubbed the 'Alpha Dawg,' this fresh look features a matte brown finish with orange striping – a dramatic change from the team's traditional bright orange shells. It's the first time the Browns have ever introduced brown helmets in their history, adding a new chapter to a franchise known for its otherwise minimalist style and hard-nosed identity.
Cleveland Browns' latest look is a nod to history – and a step into the future
For a team that prides itself on tradition – and whose primary helmet has gone largely untouched for decades – the introduction of the 'Alpha Dawg' is a surprising but intentional move.
According to the Browns, this helmet is more than just a visual refresh. It's designed to reflect the toughness and leadership the team hopes to embody on the field. ''Alpha Dawg' embodies what we set out to be as the Cleveland Browns, the leaders of the pack.
We're excited about this new alternate helmet and the ode it pays to the rich history of the color brown as part of our organization, switching it up from our iconic orange helmets,' said JW Johnson, the team's executive vice president.

The Browns will wear the new helmets three times during the upcoming season, pairing them with brown jerseys and pants for a full monochrome, yet impactful look. This will mark a stark contrast from the club's usual aesthetic, which has centered around the orange helmets since 1952.
From white to orange and now to brown – the evolution of the Cleveland Browns' helmet
While the Browns have never featured a logo on their helmets – a point of pride for the franchise – they have experimented more with helmet color in recent years.
Over the past two seasons, the team occasionally wore white throwback helmets, a subtle nod to their roots in the All-America Football Conference and early NFL days (1950–51). Then they switched to orange in 1952 – the style that's remained largely unchanged until now.
Despite their historical significance, the white alternates didn't bring much luck on the field. The Browns went just 2-4 in games wearing them, including the Week 2 contest in 2023 when star running back Nick Chubb suffered a rather serious knee injury.
A clean look with an unusual sponsor on the helmet
The Browns partnered with DUDE Wipes to promote the helmet launch, a branding choice that quickly caught the attention of fans across the internet. Known for its fun and offbeat tone, DUDE Wipes leaned all the way in. 'As the kings of keeping things clean, we're here to back the Browns as they embrace a bold new look this season − with the launch of their all-brown alternate helmets,' said DUDE Wipes co-founder and CMO Ryan Meegan.
'We're pumped to team up with the Browns for one of the most iconic helmet reveals the league has ever seen.'

Patriots WR Stefon Diggs 72 receptions from taking over Houston's Anthony Brown for this milestone
New England Patriots' wide receiver Stefon Diggs is on the cusp of achieving something great by surpassing fellow WR Anthony Brown of the Houston Roughnecks. During a recent appearance on 'Up & Adams' with Kay Adams, Diggs reacted to being just 72 receptions away from taking over Brown for a spot in the top 25 on the NFL's all-time receptions list. Patriots WR drops massive hint Stefon Diggs on the possibility of overtaking Antonio Brown '72 receptions away from cracking the Top 25 in all-time receptions? Stefon Diggs says he might have to make some calls ' a page wrote on social media. When the matter was brought up by host Adams, the 11-season NFL player reacted with a chuckle. 'It's very obtainable. I'm going to have to make some calls!' he said. 'I mean that was a good stretch. It's really impressive what AB did. He's one of the best receivers I've ever known to play this game. I think it was like a 4 or 5-year stint where he had 1800, 1600. He was just going insane. So, it'll be a blessing to get there. I don't know how long it'll take me. We'll see.' What do the Patriots expect out of Stefon Diggs this season? Needless to say, Diggs is expected to be a game-changer for the Patriots this season. Following an unpredictable time with Houston and a steady departure from Buffalo, the pressure to be a leader during his stint with the Patriots is high. Paired up with quarterback Drake Maye (recently drafted as No. 3 overall), he has previously been vocal about how 'different' Diggs's presence feels in the team, as reported by Clutch Points. The wide receiver is known to have nicknames for his younger teammates and seems to be building connections behind the scenes. ALSO READ| Did Stefon Diggs split with Cardi B over 'BBL smell'? Eagles' Jalen Hurts ranks low on Madden 26 NFL list, fans say, ‘that Hurts'
NFL ratings for Madden 26 have been released, and it's safe to say that Philadelphia Eagles fans have been left in shock looking at players' rankings. Lane Johnson (right tackle) and Saquon Barkley (halfback) are the only two players to make it to the 99 club this year, with the latter being announced as the cover star. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)(AP) As celebratory as this ranking may sound, the score awarded to another Eagle, Jalen Hurts, have been the topic of the town since its release. Jalen Hurts's low ranking As offensive grades for Madden 26 were released, Jalen Hurts's overall grade of 86 has caught widespread attention. 'Madden Ratings are out and Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts is only an 86!! Should he be higher or lower than this?,' a page wrote on social media. 'An 86 overall grade still seems insulting. So does tying him with Justin Herbert, and we're going to need an explanation of the Eagles quarterback landing behind Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff,' wrote Geoffrey A Knox of USA Today on Thursday (July 31). 'The 93 rating seems like a generous grade for A.J. Brown. Then, you remember he's better than at least three of the guys who are graded ahead of him. While we realize this is subjective, what gives?' Nick Bosa's appointment by Donald Trump to Presidential Sports Council reignites political firestorm in NFL
San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa has officially been appointed to the revitalized President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition—an initiative led by President Donald Trump . The council, reinstated through a recent Executive Order, aims to combat childhood chronic disease and promote physical, mental, and civic excellence among American youth. Nick Bosa joins Donald Trump 's Presidential Sports Council amid fitness revival The program will reintroduce the once-prominent Presidential Fitness Test, a school-based initiative that encourages children to strive for their best. It also includes plans for a Presidential Fitness Award and broader efforts to increase access to fitness and healthy living. The White House stated the council will also focus on 'restoring tradition to college athletics,' notably taking a stance on the transfer portal and opposing men participating in women's sports—two controversial talking points in today's sports discourse. A familiar alliance between Nick Bosa and Donald Trump Bosa's relationship with Donald Trump isn't new. The defensive lineman drew headlines back in 2019 when he wore a 'Make America Great Again' hat during a post-game interview, and Trump personally congratulated him after he was selected No. 2 overall by the 49ers in that year's NFL Draft. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 'I think it's an important time,' Bosa told reporters when asked about his role on the council, though he didn't elaborate further. His involvement, however, has sparked debate across social media and among NFL fans, many of whom are divided over politics in sports. Other high-profile figures joining Bosa on the council include Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and golfer Bryson DeChambeau, who serves as council chair. A broader message wrapped in political undertones Trump's push to bring back the fitness council also carries strong messaging about returning to 'traditional values' in sports.
