Wales Women's team bus was involved in a road collision on the way to the Kybunpark stadium in St Gallen ahead of a final training session for their 2025 European Championships group-stage match against France on Wednesday night.
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has said players and staff are safe. The other vehicle involved in the collision is also said to be safe.

The Wales team were heading towards Kybunpark Stadium to participate in a final team training session ahead of Wednesday night's game. Training has been cancelled. The FAW said the team are 'likely to do something later on.'
Wales head coach Rhian Wilkinson said the collision occurred near the team's hotel in Weinfelden, roughly 40 kilometres away from the stadium in northern Switzerland. The Athletic have contacted the local authorities.
Wilkinson and captain Angharad James were not on the team. They were in a media vehicle attending a pre-match press conference scheduled before training. They were told of the news shortly before arriving at the stadium.
'This is really developing right now so we're trying to be as clear and transparent as possible,' Wilkinson said. 'Everyone is okay. Our priority is for everyone to be together and away from the scene. We're going to be checking in to make sure they're all okay. Importantly the other car involved seems to be okay.
'We have been in constant comms with the staff and other vehicles. Not about over reacting. We just want the players together and the right people around them to make decisions. What does prep look like for the game? I will see how everyone is first and then we will make decisions.'
'We are shaken,' she added. 'We're away from the team right now. Football comes second in these moments. We'll check in with everyone and then we will focus on football after that.'
The FAW have been in communication with UEFA over the incident.
Wales lost their first group stage match 3-0 against the Netherlands on Saturday and face Euro 2022 semi-finalists France on Wednesday at 9pm.

GLOBAL REACH: Georgetown Center Julius Halaifonua Impresses at U19 World Cup

Fans of the Georgetown Hoyas think they know Julius Halaifonua pretty well, despite his injury, but whether even the most faithful diehards could predict that Julius would be balling this summer is hard to tell. The starting center for New Zealand turned in some solid performances and showed off his efficiency. Heads are starting to turn. Halaifonua averaged 10.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 2.0 APG, and 1.6 BPG in 19.3 MPG over 7 games (4-3) for the fourth-placed New Zealand squad. The Kiwis finished behind the USA, Germany, and Slovenia. In case you had not heard, Ed Cooley made the trip. Advertisement Our friends over at the Finger WAG offer a nice breakdown of Juilius' work in Switzerland. UEFA Women's Euro 2025: Sweden Into Quarterfinals After Easing Past Poland

Sweden advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2025 Women's Euro by beating Poland 3-0 on Tuesday, a result that also sent Germany through to the knockout rounds from their group. A hat trick of headed goals by three different players was fair reward for relentless attacking down Sweden's right flank that left the overmatched Poland defense exposed. Sweden had already struck the crossbar with two headers before center forward Stina Blackstenius opened the scoring in the 28th. Captain Kosovare Asllani padded the lead in the 52nd and substitute Lina Hurtig got a key third in the 77th. That goal sent Sweden top of the standings on goal difference ahead of Germany, ensuring it only needs a draw to win the group when the teams meet Saturday. Germany also got its second win earlier, beating Denmark 2-1 after trailing at halftime. Check out the highlights as Poland took on Sweden in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025. Poland almost scored a consolation goal in stoppage time that would have dropped Sweden below Germany, but Milena Kokosz's long-range shot struck the inside of the post and went to safety. The winner of Group C will likely avoid Euro 2025 favorite Spain's half of the knockout bracket. The group runner-up between Sweden and Germany would be on a path to meet Spain in the semifinals. Poland now has two losses and no goals scored on its major tournament debut, after losing 2-0 to Germany. Captain and star forward Ewa Pajor was kept isolated by the Sweden defense, which cut off most passes seeking her out. The only eastern European nation in the 16-nation lineup at Euro 2025, Poland had arrived on an 11-game unbeaten run, including 10 wins. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd was a constant threat and involved in so many of her team's 60 total attacks that led to 23 attempts on the Poland goal. Sweden got another bonus when Fridolina Rolfo — a teammate of Pajor at Barcelona — came on as a late substitute for her first action on the left flank after being a pre-tournament doubt because of an injury. Rolfö came on to replace Madelen Janogy who had struck the bar with a header in the 12th. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
