Malaysian singer-songwriter Khai Bahar unveils his new stirring single and its all set to hit the South-East Asian market
Malaysian singer-songwriter Khai Bahar returns with his latest single, 'Beri Sedikit Waktu', a deeply moving ballad composed by Adi Pawana and Rudy Nastia, and produced by leading label Sony Music Malaysia.
More than just a melody, the song offers comfort to weary souls – an emotional embrace for those carrying silent burdens.
'I accepted the song the moment I heard it. No hesitation. No second thoughts. It struck something deep inside me because it mirrors a chapter I'm living… losing my beloved mother hasn't been easy,' Khai shares sincerely.
'Kau Bukannya Menyerah, Hanya Bersandar Seketika…'
The above line which translates to 'you're not giving up, just leaning for a moment…' is the heart of 'Beri Sedikit Waktu', inviting listeners to slow down, to acknowledge pain, and to rest when the weight of the world feels too heavy.
According to Sony's media release, the song is not just a ballad – it is a tender embrace for those quietly battling their own storms.
'I believe everyone has felt overwhelmed at some point, but not everyone knows how to express it. This song creates that space – to cry, to let go, and to accept that we don't always have to appear strong,' Khai explains.
A Healing Ballad For The Heart
'Beri Sedikit Waktu' carries messages of empathy, acceptance, and inner healing. It encourages listeners not to bottle up sadness or pretend to be okay, but instead, to allow themselves to feel, and to heal – at their own pace.
Musically, the song takes form as a ballad rich in 'healing' energy – featuring minimalist arrangements, a calm vocal delivery, and soul-stirring lyrics.
'I sang it in the most honest way possible. Not too technical or polished. I just wanted to share the feeling. I believe that if it comes from the heart, it will reach the heart,' says Khai, who admits to thinking of his mother throughout the recording process.
Recorded at Mixbro Records in Cybersouth, the track only took about two hours to record – but emotionally, it was a heavy session for the singer.
'There were several moments I had to pause because I got really choked up. But I knew I had to record this song. Because I believe many people need something like this right now,' he adds.
The Music Video: A Journey Toward Healing
The official music video (MV) for 'Beri Sedikit Waktu' brings an equally powerful visual message – sadness is not the end of the road, and there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
'It represents someone's journey from emotional darkness to the realization that life must go on. No pain lasts forever – sometimes, we just need a little time to heal and rise again,' explains Khai, who was also involved in conceptualising the MV.
A Son's Heartfelt Dedication
To Khai, this song is not only a tribute to his late mother, but also a gift to anyone who has experienced loss – be it a loved one, a hope, or their own spirit.
'I know many people are silently fighting battles. This song is for them. If it can bring even the slightest relief or make them feel seen or even heard… that's more than enough for me,' he says.
Khai hopes 'Beri Sedikit Waktu' will be a comforting companion to listeners, especially when they need time to lean on something – and slowly find their strength again.
'Not everyone can get back up right after a fall. I want this song to feel like a warm hug for all of them. Just take your time. Cry if you need to. But trust me – you will be okay again,' Khai assures.

'Beri Sedikit Waktu' is now available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Joox, and YouTube Music. The official music video can be watched exclusively on the sonymusicMYVEVO YouTube channel.

Hate To Break It To You, But There's No Hang Tuah In The Old Guard 2
Subscribe to our FREE Sleeper-hit film The Old Guard, which was released in 2020, follows the story of a group of mercenaries who could not be killed. That's right, they are immortal. Releasing on Netflix tomorrow (2 July) is its highly anticipated sequel – The Old Guard 2 – which brings a new addition to the cast of its unkillable characters: Malaysian-born Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding. The movie introduces Tuah, who is played by Henry and is also an immortal character. At first, there's not much to make of it – a Southeast Asian actor playing a character named Tuah is not unusual. That is, until we spotted the weapon he wields in the movie poster: a Keris. Say what? Combining the name Tuah and a keris brings his character close to a portrayal of Hang Tuah. For context, Hang Tuah is a storied hero in Malay legend, a powerful warrior and Laksamana (court admiral) from the Melaka Sultanate famous for his loyalty, martial skill, and tales involving a magical keris called Taming Sari as well as rivalries such as that with Hang Jebat. Malaysians went wild with theories that the character is actually THE Hang Tuah. read some theory about the old guard 2 and there is a chance that henry golding is hang tuah in it 😭😭😭 this is genuinely mad if u know anything about malay history — ْ (@d00scar) One of the movie's teaser posters revealed more of the character, showing him holding what is obviously a keris, which is also Hang Tuah's signature weapon. That is definitely a keris. Image: IMP Awards If he really is supposed to be some incarnation of Hang Tuah, he is certainly a more modern one in t-shirt and slacks. Hang Tuah is usually pictured as a man with long hair, a moustache, and beard, while wearing traditional Malay attire including a tanjak (traditional Malay headgear). Veteran musician M. Nasir played Hang Tuah in the 2004 film Puteri Gunung Ledang. Image: Illuminasi As far as Henry's portrayal goes, he already has the facial hair down. Perhaps this is what Hang Tuah would look like in the 21st century. Unfortunately, Henry revealed in an The Old Guard 2 features a star-studded cast including Charlize Theron, Uma Thurman, Henry Golding, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Share your thoughts with us via TRP's .
