#SHOWBIZ: Khai of AF1: Didn't even have RM10 to donate to the mosque
KUALA LUMPUR: Falling on hard times after their debut in the first season of Akademi Fantasia (AF1) in 2003 taught singers Khai and Rosma a valuable lesson: diversify their income beyond entertainment. Despite the initial buzz from the reality show, performance offers weren't always consistent, leading the couple to struggle financially in Kuala Lumpur. They often questioned their career choice as artistes. Khai, whose real name is Mohammad Khairul Nizam Mohammad Wahi, 46, acknowledged the unpredictable nature of an artiste's income. "As artistes, we don't have a steady income; there are times when there are lots of offers and there are times when there aren't any. "Sometimes it takes several months to get paid. We've been through that phase and there were times when we felt like looking for a permanent job," he told Berita Harian. Khai, known for his song 'Dambaan Pilu', even considered returning to banking, where he worked for six years before AF1. A particularly difficult period for Khai was in 2007 when a severe sore throat prevented him from singing, forcing him to decline all performance invitations. This led to a financial crisis, which he vividly remembers. "I still remember, at that time, I finished praying at a mosque in Putrajaya. But I couldn't even afford to give RM10 in charity at the mosque. "In fact, I saw foreign workers giving charity and putting money in the mosque's treasury. I thought, even I, who am an artiste, can't do that." Realising the need for a more stable income, Khai and Rosma decided to venture into business. "I think we need to start a business because in the art industry, we can't just survive," Khai explained. They began slowly, even selling "jelly" pillows that could be heated or cooled. Their efforts gradually paid off. Rosma, whose real name is Rosmayati Sidik, 40, emphasised their teamwork in overcoming challenges. "Khai and I always sit together and discuss to find a solution." She recalled that even before they were married in 2008, they supported each other. Rosma's own career saw a boost with a duet, 'Joget Cinta Sakti', with Haziq Rosebi, which led to a year of non-stop performance offers. She commended Khai's resilience: "Even in difficult times, we help each other. I still help Khai… I know he is someone who is always trying to change his life. Praise be to God. He doesn't just talk, but proves it with his own efforts." Today, Khai and Rosma, who have three children – Muhammad Amzar Danish, 19; Nur Amani Damia, 11; and Nur Alya Dhania, 6 – are the founders of health products, Magic Slims, and run Coffee Rich Cafe. Their journey underscores the importance of perseverance and diversification in life's unpredictable moments.

Yolanda Hadid Responds to Backlash for Sharing Khai Pic
Yolanda Hadid has zero time for random strangers criticizing her family photos. As E! News first reported, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star hopped on Instagram Monday to celebrate her son, Anwar Hadid's birthday, and posted a ton of photos of them over the years—including several sweet pics of Anwar with Gigi Hadid's daughter, Khai. To be clear, she didn't show Khai's face—which falls in line with Gigi's own approach to sharing pics of her daughter on social. But this didn't stop commenters from criticizing Yolanda, and she was having none of it. In response to one person who wrote, in part, "think about how this might affect her in the future," Yolanda shot back "please go and harass somebody else's feed, you are not welcome here!!!" For what it's worth, Gigi has spoken candidly about her desire to ensure Khai has privacy. In an Instagram story back in 2021, she wrote "You know we have never intentionally shared our daughters face on social media. Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen." She added, "It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera. I know it's an extra effort—but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do."

Malaysian singer-songwriter Khai Bahar unveils his new stirring single and its all set to hit the South-East Asian market
Not every chapter in life is filled with joy. Sometimes, we stumble in silence, unsure of how to rise again. In those quiet moments, a song can become a refuge – a reminder that it is okay to pause, to lean, and to simply feel. Malaysian singer-songwriter Khai Bahar returns with his latest single, 'Beri Sedikit Waktu', a deeply moving ballad composed by Adi Pawana and Rudy Nastia, and produced by leading label Sony Music Malaysia. More than just a melody, the song offers comfort to weary souls – an emotional embrace for those carrying silent burdens. 'I accepted the song the moment I heard it. No hesitation. No second thoughts. It struck something deep inside me because it mirrors a chapter I'm living… losing my beloved mother hasn't been easy,' Khai shares sincerely. 'Kau Bukannya Menyerah, Hanya Bersandar Seketika…' The above line which translates to 'you're not giving up, just leaning for a moment…' is the heart of 'Beri Sedikit Waktu', inviting listeners to slow down, to acknowledge pain, and to rest when the weight of the world feels too heavy. According to Sony's media release, the song is not just a ballad – it is a tender embrace for those quietly battling their own storms. 'I believe everyone has felt overwhelmed at some point, but not everyone knows how to express it. This song creates that space – to cry, to let go, and to accept that we don't always have to appear strong,' Khai explains. A Healing Ballad For The Heart 'Beri Sedikit Waktu' carries messages of empathy, acceptance, and inner healing. It encourages listeners not to bottle up sadness or pretend to be okay, but instead, to allow themselves to feel, and to heal – at their own pace. Musically, the song takes form as a ballad rich in 'healing' energy – featuring minimalist arrangements, a calm vocal delivery, and soul-stirring lyrics. 'I sang it in the most honest way possible. Not too technical or polished. I just wanted to share the feeling. I believe that if it comes from the heart, it will reach the heart,' says Khai, who admits to thinking of his mother throughout the recording process. Recorded at Mixbro Records in Cybersouth, the track only took about two hours to record – but emotionally, it was a heavy session for the singer. 'There were several moments I had to pause because I got really choked up. But I knew I had to record this song. Because I believe many people need something like this right now,' he adds. The Music Video: A Journey Toward Healing The official music video (MV) for 'Beri Sedikit Waktu' brings an equally powerful visual message – sadness is not the end of the road, and there is always light at the end of the tunnel. 'It represents someone's journey from emotional darkness to the realization that life must go on. No pain lasts forever – sometimes, we just need a little time to heal and rise again,' explains Khai, who was also involved in conceptualising the MV. A Son's Heartfelt Dedication To Khai, this song is not only a tribute to his late mother, but also a gift to anyone who has experienced loss – be it a loved one, a hope, or their own spirit. 'I know many people are silently fighting battles. This song is for them. If it can bring even the slightest relief or make them feel seen or even heard… that's more than enough for me,' he says. Khai hopes 'Beri Sedikit Waktu' will be a comforting companion to listeners, especially when they need time to lean on something – and slowly find their strength again. 'Not everyone can get back up right after a fall. I want this song to feel like a warm hug for all of them. Just take your time. Cry if you need to. But trust me – you will be okay again,' Khai assures. Now Streaming On All Digital Platforms 'Beri Sedikit Waktu' is now available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Joox, and YouTube Music. The official music video can be watched exclusively on the sonymusicMYVEVO YouTube channel. Gigi Hadid's daughter Khai's breakfast sparks debate as fans question cultural roots
Gigi Hadid's latest Instagram post has unintentionally stirred controversy after fans noticed a small detail in her daughter's breakfast menu. The supermodel, who shares 3-year-old daughter Khai with singer Zayn Malik, included a handwritten list of meals in a wholesome photo carousel — one that listed 'bacon' among the items. Slide 9 of the post, meant to showcase the peaceful rhythm of countryside living, triggered an online debate. Users quickly zoomed in on the word 'bacon,' with one asking, 'Aren't you Muslim?' The comment section soon filled with mixed reactions, with others chiming in with, 'Did I see bacon??' and 'Seriously, Gigi?' Hadid, whose father Mohamed Hadid is Palestinian and Muslim and mother Yolanda Hadid is Dutch and Christian, has spoken before about her multicultural upbringing. The family celebrated both Eid and Christmas, and while Gigi remains relatively private about her faith, her sister Bella has been more vocal, previously stating, 'I am proud to be a Muslim.' Zayn Malik, Khai's father, is of British Pakistani Muslim heritage, which further amplified expectations about traditional dietary practices. However, the 'bacon' mentioned could refer to pork, turkey, or a plant-based option — something Gigi has not clarified. Despite the speculation, the post remains online. Fans also praised Hadid's parenting, highlighting the balanced and joyful meals she provides compared to her own upbringing under Yolanda's strict dietary rules.
