Battle for white jersey takes centre stage on Tour

His rivals have tried mightily to dislodge Tadej Pogacar from the yellow jersey of the Tour de France but he has withstood all the tricks and tactics they've applied over three weeks and 18 stages – and simply counterpunched and left them floundering.
He will win the race in Paris on Sunday – you can bet on it. Actually, there's no point in betting on it; you'll win just one cent for every rand wagered on the Slovenian superstar at odds of 1.01.
Second-placed Jonas Vingegaard has blown out on an Alpine breeze to 23.00 for the Win.
There are other bets to be had as the Tour winds up – with another mountain stage on Friday and a hilly stage on Saturday, before the honour parade into Paris on Sunday.
Third place and best young rider
One intriguing battle is between Germany's Florian Lipowitz and Britain's Oscar Onley for third place overall – and, simultaneously, for the white jersey that signifies the best young rider.
Lipowitz leads Onley by 22 seconds after Thursday's brutal stage in the Alps, with the latter passing the former on the road of the climb to the Col de la Loze but just failing to pass him on the leaderboard.
Lipowitz has had a superb Tour. He might have simply had a tough moment on Stage 8 and will bounce back on the ascent to the ski resort of La Plagne. However, Onley is looking stronger as the race reaches a climax.
Lipowitz is a 1.65 chance to finish in the top three and Onley is at 2.65. Old warhorse Primoz Roglic is a 5.05 top three chance after hanging in bravely with the top General Classification contenders.
Among the many other offerings from Betway are various prominent riders to win a stage. Among the more appealing here are: Vingegaard (no 1.03, yes 7.15), Onley (1.00, 32.00), Quinn Simmons (1.03, 7.15), Wout van Aert (1.10, 5.00) and Jordi Meeus (1.00, 9.90).

Mauritius' Kim Le Court-Pienaar makes history for Africa at women's Tour de France

AG Insurance - Soudal Team's Mauritius rider Kimberley Le Court Pienaar celebrates on the podium with the overall leader's yellow jersey after the 2nd stage (out of 9) of the fourth edition of the Women's Tour de France cycling race. Photo: Julien de Rosa/AFP Image: Julien de Rosa/AFP Mauritian Kim Le Court-Pienaar became the first African to win a stage on the women's Tour de France on Wednesday. It was a case of double celebration for the 29-year-old who took the fifth stage honours in a sprint to reclaim the leader's yellow jersey. Le Court edged Dutch duo Demi Vollering and Anna van der Breggen after a hilly 166km ride, the longest of the Tour, from Chasseneuil-du-Poitou Futuroscope to Gueret. Overnight leader Marianne Vos lost yellow to the AG Insurance-Soudal team leader after finishing eighth, 33 seconds adrift, on the day. "It's really been a dream start to the Tour. The stage win, the yellow jersey," said Le Court. "I wasn't even thinking about it when we started in Brittany. "As for what happens next, we'll see, since I don't know my limits in the mountains, this Tour being my first major stage race where my team has asked me to compete for the overall classification." Vollering, the Tour winner in 2023 and favourite for this edition, is third at 23sec after recovering from a heavy fall on Monday. Last year's winner, Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma, took fourth in the stage to sit well placed at 24sec off the overall lead. Thursday's sixth stage is a mountainous 123.7km ride from Clermont-Ferrand to Ambert featuring three ascents including the category one climb up the Col du Beal, with the race finishing on Sunday. AB de Villiers and the legends have a date with Australia

The Proteas might not be in action at the moment, but that doesn't mean there's not plenty of cricket going on all over the world. Cricket fans have a large menu to pick from in the coming days, with a number of intriguing matches taking place in various places across the globe. The Proteas are next in action in white-ball cricket in Australia in a few weeks' time but that doesn't mean there isn't something on offer for those who want to have a punt. In fact, there is so much cricket happening all around the world almost every day that fans always have something to watch and follow. On Wednesday in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and New Zealand get the first of their two Tests under way with the visitors the hot favourites to win that one at 1.12 for the win, according to Betway. A more lucrative option is backing Zimbabwe to shock the tourists, at 8.00 for the win. A draw is at 14.50. On Thursday, the South African legends team take on their Australia counterparts in the semi-finals of the World Championship with AB de Villiers and his team the favourites at 1.70 for the win, while Australia are at 2.10. The winner will advance to the final for a meeting with either Pakistan or India. De Villiers, the former Proteas captain, is the leading run scorer at the tournament with 303 runs. This includes two centuries. The next best run-getter is Ravi Bopara of England, with 177 runs. On Friday, the West Indies host Pakistan in the first T20 of their series and somewhat surprisingly the hosts are favourites to win the first game, at 1.75, while Pakistan are at 2.10.
