Ohtani's big homer and Smith's 2 blasts help Dodgers end home woes with 5-2 win over Twins
The NL West leaders snapped a six-game skid at home, their longest such streak at Dodger Stadium since September 2017.
They were swept
in three games by the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend.
Buxton sent Ohtani's second pitch of the game halfway up the left field pavilion. After Mookie Betts walked, Ohtani answered with a 441-foot blast to center that put the Dodgers in front, 2-1. The two-way Japanese superstar has homered in three straight games.
Smith went deep twice off David Festa (3-4). Smith led off the fourth with a two-strike homer to center and followed with a 435-foot shot to left that made it 4-1.
Andy Pages added a solo shot off reliever Cole Sands.
Dustin May (6-6) took over from Ohtani, who allowed one run, four hits and struck out three in three innings. May gave up five hits in 4 2/3 innings, struck out four and walked three. Kirby Yates earned his third save.
Freddie Freeman
was in the lineup a day after being hit by a pitch on his left wrist in Sunday's 6-5 loss to Milwaukee. He was 1 for 4 with a strikeout.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Cleveland Browns cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. will miss the coming season after an MRI confirmed that he ruptured an Achilles tendon. Coach Kevin Stefanski said before Wednesday's practice that Emerson will have surgery, but a date has not been determined. 'It's disappointing. Injuries are the worst part of our game, but he will bounce back, I know what he is made of,' Stefanski said. 'Yesterday was a lot. He is sore today.' Emerson, a third-round draft pick in 2022, got hurt while covering a wide receiver during a 7-on-7 drill Tuesday. He dropped to the ground in pain and screamed before being carted off the field with a towel covering his head. He has 202 tackles, four interceptions, a fumble recovery and sack in three seasons. His loss is another blow to a Cleveland defense looking to rebound from a poor season and already short-handed with linebackers Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (neck injury) and Jordan Hicks (retired) ruled out. With Emerson out, Greg Newsome likely will move into the No. 2 corner spot opposite Pro Bowler Denzel Ward. Both Emerson and Newsome also played some nickel back, covering slot receivers. Buffalo Sabres home arena to remain KeyBank Center after reaching 10-year naming rights extension
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres' home arena will continue being called the KeyBank Center after the two sides announced a 10-year naming rights extension on Wednesday. The new deal will kick in next year and run through 2035-36. The Cleveland-based bank has a large regional presence in Buffalo, and took over the downtown arena's naming rights after acquiring First Niagara Bank in 2016. As part of the extension, the bank's name will be featured on the Sabres' helmets for away games starting this season. The arena is undergoing a series of long-needed renovations since first opening in 1996. Last year, the Sabres replaced the roof and installed a new video scoreboard over center ice. The next series of renovations are expected to address upgrading the seats and fan amenities. The Sabres' control the building, which is also home to the three-time defending National Lacrosse League champion Bandits, and have placed an emphasis on adding more events since Pete Guelli took over as the team's chief operating officer last year . In November, the arena will host one of Paul McCartney's 20 North American tour stops, as well as host a pre-Olympic U.S. vs. Canada women's hockey Rivalry Series game. Dodgers Looming for Trade With Hated Rival 'Dangling' MLB Saves Leader

The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a second straight win against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, building on a lead over the rival San Diego Padres in the National League West division. But with the trade deadline just ahead, the Dodgers aren't likely to stand pat. Even after a blockbuster offseason that added several high-profile names to a star-studded championship roster, the Dodgers face a concerning shortage in the bullpen after a range of injuries and shaky performances. After the team relied on its relief corps during last season's World Series run, the front office will surely be looking to bolster that unit ahead of a playoff run this year. But the Dodgers will be competing for any available bullpen arms alongside virtually every other contending team. And that market could drive the Padres to offer up an intriguing option. "Considering the number of teams that desire impact relief help — the Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, both New York teams and the Los Angeles Dodgers — the ones that have it are understandably holding out for a strong return," Jeff Passan wrote for ESPN. "Which is why San Diego is dangling Robert Suarez, San Francisco is fielding calls on its back-end guys, and even the A's could conceivably get an offer they can't refuse for Mason Miller."
