Dubai Chambers organises four workshops to enhance awareness of key laws and regulations among the business community
Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chambers organised four workshops recently aimed at enhancing companies' awareness of business environment regulations and strengthening compliance with legal frameworks governing economic sectors.
The sessions attracted 260 private sector representatives, equipping participants with valuable insights on key topics including cybersecurity, employment and workplace-related legal matters, trade digitalisation, and corporate tax.
The first workshop was organised in collaboration with Al Sahlawi & Co and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. The session covered strategies for meeting employee expectations, ensuring legal compliance in employment policies, handling workplace grievances, and clarifying the legal obligations of employers and employees.
The second workshop, which was held in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-UAE) and Fichte & Co Legal, focused on trade digitalisation requirements and global trade transformations. The session highlighted the UAE's achievements in reinforcing its position as a leading hub for digital trade. Key topics covered included the role of the ICC Digital Standards Initiative, the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records, the legal standing of electronic trade documents in the UAE, and best practices in digital identification of trade counterparties.
The third workshop addressed the UAE's evolving cybersecurity landscape. Hosted in collaboration with Kreston ME Consulting and Galadari Advocates and Legal Consultants, the session addressed the security challenges businesses face in digital adoption, compliance requirements for cybersecurity laws, and the key pillars of the Dubai Cybersecurity Strategy.
The fourth workshop was organised in collaboration with Al Tamimi & Company and provided valuable insights on corporate tax in the UAE. The discussion covered areas including tax compliance requirements, the key features of the UAE's tax system, and corporate taxation in free zones.
The interactive workshops came as part of Dubai Chambers' commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment by providing access to vital legal information and promoting best practices in compliance. By equipping businesses with the knowledge to navigate legal frameworks more effectively, Dubai Chambers empowers companies to enhance their competitiveness and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

Bahrain commits to 30 percent emissions cut by 2035 and net zero by 2060 in global climate action
Bahrain is making significant strides in environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development through a series of robust national policies, international collaborations, and community-driven efforts. These initiatives reflect the kingdom's commitment to safeguarding natural resources and ecosystems for future generations, in alignment with global climate goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda. Guided by the vision of the kingdom's leadership, Bahrain has positioned itself as a regional leader in environmental stewardship. The initiatives are driven by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King's Personal Representative and President of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE). Sheikh Abdullah emphasized Bahrain's growing reputation as a proactive and respected player in global environmental protection efforts. One of Bahrain's major achievements is the implementation of the National Water Strategy 2021–2030, which supports SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation). The strategy focuses on integrated resource management, wastewater treatment and reuse, and smart solutions to improve water efficiency. It forms part of the government's broader commitment for 2023–2026 and is being executed in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Environment. Climate goals and carbon neutrality Bahrain has pledged to cut carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2035 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. A key step in this direction was the launch of the Bahrain Mangroves initiative in December 2024, which has already doubled the kingdom's mangrove coverage through advanced, sustainable cultivation techniques. In addition to climate mitigation, the Supreme Council for Environment continues to introduce legislation and national initiatives to promote environmental sustainability, support green technologies, and protect Bahrain's biodiversity. These efforts include: Safe disposal of industrial and hazardous waste Rehabilitation of polluted land Reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture and landscaping Protection of endangered marine species like dolphins, sea turtles, and dugongs Conservation of rare wild birds and prevention of illegal hunting The SCE also enforces energy efficiency regulations, green building codes, ozone layer protection protocols, and chemical safety standards, while promoting environmental awareness across both public and private sectors. Bahrain has positioned itself as a regional leader in environmental stewardship Public awareness and global cooperation To increase environmental literacy, Bahrain launched a national campaign titled 'Sustainable Water – Every Drop Has a Story' in collaboration with the UN Environment Program. Spanning four months, the campaign reached communities across the kingdom through public events and educational initiatives, highlighting the critical role of water in sustainable development. Dr. Mohammad bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Bahrain's Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, reiterated that environmental responsibility begins with awareness and ends with action. He stressed that sustainable behavior is key to preserving Bahrain's ecosystems and natural heritage. Dubai family businesses get new support framework through Emirates NBD partnership
The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses, operating under Dubai Chambers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates NBD to enhance support for family businesses in Dubai and promote their long-term growth. Under the MoU terms, the centre will collaborate with Emirates NBD's Private Banking division to develop and integrate a framework of functions to help businesses preserve their family wealth, legacy and values for future generations. This includes support in family business governance and succession planning. 'Family businesses play a pivotal role in driving economic development, and ensuring their continued success is vital to sustainable growth. This collaboration between the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses and Emirates NBD reflects our shared commitment to supporting the long-term growth of family enterprises across generations by equipping them with the tools they need to thrive and enhance their competitiveness both locally and globally,' Khalid AlJarwan, Vice President of Commercial and Corporate Services at Dubai Chambers said. 'We are committed to supporting family businesses in adopting best practices in governance, succession planning, and next-generation skills development. This helps to strengthen their resilience and adaptability in an evolving economic landscape. The centre will offer advisory services to the bank's family business clients, including governance maturity assessment, the development of family charters and family office structure to ensure generational transitions. According to the MoU, Emirates NBD will encourage its family business clients to participate in leadership development programmes organised by the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses. These programmes are designed to enhance knowledge and skills in governance, succession planning, and business continuity. The agreement encompasses the organisation of workshops by the centre for Emirates NBD clients focusing on topics including practices in family governance, succession planning, and family office structures. Experts from Emirates NBD will also participate in the centre's events. 'Emirates NBD is pleased to collaborate with the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses to strengthen the emirate's family-owned business ecosystem. This sector plays a vital role in driving GDP, and our new partnership solidifies Emirates NBD's commitment to economic growth in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda,' Mohammad Al Bastaki, Group Head of Private Banking at Emirates NBD said. 'The recent introduction of various regulatory and legislative changes across the UAE has positively enabled family businesses to be better prepared for succession. However, it is estimated that only 20 per cent of family businesses in the Middle East are managed by the third generation,' Al Bastaki added.
