Caitlin Clark secured the first piece of hardware of her pro basketball career yesterday as the Indiana Fever won the Commissioner's Cup title in a win over the Minnesota Lynx.

Clark was unable to play due to her lingering leg injury but veteran guard Aari McDonald and backup Sophie Cunningham were able to make up the difference with a combined 25 points and 10 rebounds. The end result was a 74-59 win and the franchise's first trophy since their 2012 WNBA title.
After the game, the team was in a celebratory mood and while Clark may have been too hurt to step onto the hardwood, she wasn't too sore to enjoy some alcohol.
Video from the Fever locker room shows Clark shot-gunning a Truly hard seltzer as her teammates egged her on. After slamming the empty can to the ground, they all cheered.
Fans were pretty impressed that Clark was able to shotgun her drink:

"First time seeing someone shotgun a truly," one user pointed out.
"Thursdays game is gonna be an absolute train wreck lmao," another predicted.
"CC is drinking to all the haters, especially the other @WNBA players. #9," a third declared.
"She's from Iowa. They be getting drunk as hell out there lol."
"That girl's from Iowa. Of course she knows how to shotgun a beer and look like a goat doing it."
"That's that country girl party girl coming out! Dude I bet she is a killer in beer pong."

Five different members of the Fever scored double-digit points in yesterday's win over the Lynx. Star forward Natasha Howard led the team and the game with 16 of those points, while Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, McDonald and Cunningham all had 12-13. Cunningham had almost as many points as the entire Lynx bench combined.

Tuesday's game was the third in a row that the Fever played without Caitlin Clark. They've now gone 2-1 in that stretch.
Over the next 11 days the Fever will play five straight games at home. If they can come out of that five-game stretch looking solid, maybe they can start treating Clark as a luxury rather than a necessity and give her more time to recover.

Sophie Cunningham's Immediate Reaction After Getting Grabbed by the Neck in Fever Game

Sophie Cunningham's Immediate Reaction After Getting Grabbed by the Neck in Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Still without Caitlin Clark, who has now missed 10 games in 2025, Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever eyed their 10th win of the WNBA season. Advertisement On Saturday, the Fever (9-8) faced Kelsey Plum and the Los Angeles Sparks for the second time this year on their home court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Julie Vanloo recently signed with the Sparks after being waived by the Golden State Valkyries. She saw two minutes of action in Thursday's win over the Liberty, but saw much more action against the Fever. With 1:25 remaining in the first quarter, Vanloo was getting some early action. She showed off her hustle by diving for a loose ball, only to meet Cunningham on the ground. Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham© Grace Smith/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Cunningham came up with the ball while Vanloo, also going for it, grabbed the Fever guard by the neck. Despite the contact, no foul was called, and officials ruled it a jump ball. Advertisement As the two guards got up, Vanloo appeared to say something to Cunningham with a smile. Cunningham responded with a smile and a laugh as she walked away. No harm done. Cunningham won the jump ball and was fouled by Vanloo five seconds later, sending her to the line for two free throws. She made one, but Vanloo responded 11 seconds later by sinking a 23-foot three-pointer to give the Sparks a 21-20 lead. Vanloo has bounced around the WNBA since joining the league in 2024. She spent her rookie season with the Washington Mystics, averaging 7.4 points and 4.3 assists. But she was selected by the Valkyries in December's expansion draft. Advertisement She played nine games with Golden State this year, averaging 4.6 points and 4.1 assists per game. She was unexpectedly released by the team last week. LA Sparks Roast Indiana Fever With Perfect Sophie Cunningham Reference originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the WNBA announced its upcoming expansion to Philadelphia, Detroit and Cleveland, most people around the league were excited by the news. Advertisement But not everyone was on board. One of the league's most outspoken voices, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, made headlines when she questioned two of the new markets. 'I do think that Miami would have been a great one,' Cunningham said. 'Everyone loves Florida. Nashville is an amazing city. Kansas City, amazing opportunity. But man, I don't know how excited people are to be going to Detroit or Cleveland.' Cunningham and the Indiana Fever were in action Saturday against the Los Angeles Sparks. After pulling off an 89-87 win, the Sparks wasted no time roasting Cunningham with a perfect jab on social media. "List of cities Indiana has beef with: Detroit, Cleveland, Los Angeles." Advertisement That marked the second win for the Sparks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in just over a week. Their previous victory came on June 26, when they beat Indiana 85-75. The Fever were once again without Caitlin Clark, who missed her fifth straight game due to a groin injury. In her absence, Aliyah Boston stepped up with 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead Indiana.
