Hype Malaysia3 days ago

Despite the many controversies involving ticket resellers, merchandise prices and a confirmed track release, the upcoming BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) 'DEADLINE' World Tour is nothing short of anticipated, making this the most awaited group comeback of the year. Having been on hiatus since 2022, this world tour will be one to remember.
Today (26th June 2025), BLACKPINK released its official trailer for their 'DEADLINE' world tour, finally featuring the full quartet in a 27-second video opening up the vibes to their world tour. It's giving Coachella summertime fun, as the members ride off in Cadillacs and cowboy boots, officially kickstarting promotions for the tour.
The trailer opens up with Rosé (로제) making a phone call to the other members before speeding off into her own short montage. One by one, members Jennie (제니), Lisa (리사), and Jisoo (지수) are introduced as they speed off into palm trees and deserts, seemingly having the time of their lives. The first leg of their world tour starts off with a 2-day show at Goyang Stadium, Seoul on 5th and 6th July 2025, where they will be live releasing their comeback single.
Netizens are clearly excited about the release trailer, with over 300,000 views in just 3 hours! Amid the excitement, fans are still calling out YG Entertainment to release BLACKPINK's comeback single on 4th July before their first leg of shows. Twitter user @/popculturedose commented, 'This is cute BUT WHERE IS THE MUSIC?? Don't piss me off'. Some netizens have also pointed out Lisa's lack of screen time with user @/snowenaj commenting, 'Lisa's screentime though. Her face was not even properly shown, what can I expect of YG?'.
Despite Malaysia not being added to the list of shows for their 'DEADLINE' world tour, are you still pumped for their comeback?

Not (just) like Jennie: ‘KPop Demon Hunters' director/writer clarifies Blackpink's Jennie only one of many references

SEOUL, June 28 —There has been a lot of online speculation as to which K-pop idol specifically inspired the K-pop idol groups Huntrix and Saja Boys in Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters. The show has proven to be quite a hit, with a very warm reception from K-pop fans. Unfortunately, if there's one thing fans are a little too good at is starting conflicts between fandoms, so it's not surprising that writer and director of the show Maggie Kang decided to clear the air in a post on X. 'Rumi was inspired by many leading ladies, some not even K-Pop. Names are going around (individual idols + groups) bc we only said 'yes' as they were mentioned by interviewer to us but list of inspo for both Huntr/x & Saja Boys is endless. This has been clarified by us to press,' Kang said. She said it in a post quoting an X account stating that the character Rumi of Huntrix was reportedly inspired by Blackpink's Jennie. Hopefully the online vitriol doesn't scare off Kang from making more stories from the Kpop Demon Hunters universe. Right now Netflix is already selling merchandise from the show and has even opened preorders for a plush version of the blue tiger Derpy.

ATEEZ Makes Debut On The Billboard Hot 100 With Title Track 'Lemon Drop'

The Billboard 100 charts, also known simply as the Hot 100, are the standard music industry record charts of popular streamed tracks around the world. Predominantly championed by songs from the US, recent years show the emergence of K-pop groups on the charts, such as the likes of BTS (방탄소년단) and Stray Kids (스트레이 키즈). In a winning feat, ATEEZ (에이티즈) have made their appearance on the Billboard 100 charts with their title track 'Lemon Drop' on 24th June 2025. Debuting at No.69 on the Hot 100, the win for ATEEZ marks them as the third K-pop boy group to appear on the charts, alongside BTS and Stray Kids. Notably, 'Lemon Drop', the title track to their 12th mini album 'Golden Hour: Part 3', also appears on other Billboard tallies. They debuted at No.1 on Billboard's 'World Digital Song Sales' chart, while the album stole another No.1 spot on the 'Top Album Sales' chart and 'World Albums' chart. 'Lemon Drop' also made headlines with their feat at No. 9 on Billboard's 'Digital Song Sales' chart. Netizens flood the comments with congratulations and love for the group. Twitter user @/WiseTroof commented, 'From the underground to the Hot 100, ATEEZ did not just join the list, they earned their place in gold. The climb is real, and so is the impact'. Despite their groundbreaking achievement, netizens have also come out to speculate the standings of the Billboard 100 with Twitter user @/DelindaMangwa commenting, 'No radio, no US chart entry, no Spotify entry. How did ATEEZ debut at 69? I'm really curious!'. Despite speculations and controversies, we wish ATEEZ a big congratulations on being the 3rd K-pop boy group to appear on the charts!
