Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd surged 10 per cent in early trade on Friday; Key points for investors
Glenmark Share Price: Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd surged 10 per cent in early trade on Friday, scaling a new all-time high of Rs 2,094 apiece, after the company announced a major licensing agreement involving its innovation subsidiary.
In a regulatory filing post market hours on July 10, Glenmark said its step-down wholly-owned subsidiary, Ichnos Glenmark Innovation (IGI), had signed a global licensing pact with AbbVie. The investigational drug, ISB 2001, is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
Under the terms of the agreement, AbbVie will obtain exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize ISB 2001 across key developed markets, including North America, Europe, Japan, and China. Glenmark will retain commercialization rights across emerging markets such as the rest of Asia, Latin America, Russia/CIS, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
Glenmark's IGI Therapeutics SA will receive an upfront payment of $700 million and may earn up to $1.225 billion in additional milestone payments tied to development, regulatory clearances, and commercial success. The deal also includes tiered, double-digit royalties on net sales.
The US FDA granted ISB 2001 orphan drug designation in July 2023 and fast-track designation in May 2025 for treating relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. These designations are expected to speed up the drug's development and approval process.
Roopal Thakkar, M.D., EVP of R&D and Chief Scientific Officer at AbbVie, said, 'Multispecifics, including trispecific antibodies, are a new frontier in immuno-oncology. This partnership underscores our commitment to advancing novel treatments for multiple myeloma, where unmet medical needs still exist."
Cyril Konto, M.D., President and CEO of IGI, added, 'ISB 2001 showcases the power of our BEAT® protein platform to create next-generation multispecifics™. This agreement is a defining moment in IGI's journey and accelerates the drug's path to patients."
Stock Performance and Analyst Take
Glenmark Pharma shares have surged over 14% in the past five sessions, 28% in one month, and more than 51% over the past year. Despite the rally, Nomura has maintained a 'Neutral' rating on the stock with a price target of Rs 1,500, implying over 21% downside from its previous close of Rs 1,904. The brokerage noted that the deal is the largest licensing agreement signed by an Indian pharmaceutical firm and exceeded its expectations in value.

Auric will get 10,000 acres for expansion, says secretary of department for promotion of industry & internal trade

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Amardeep Singh Bhatia, the secretary of Centre's department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) at the Centre, announced on Saturday that the Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric) will undergo further expansion on 10,000 acres of land. "Auric will play a key role in the path to achieving a $30 trillion economy for India by 2047. It has been playing a pioneering role by emerging as a vibrant manufacturing hub," Bhatia said during his visit to Auric at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Auric is a greenfield industrial smart city taking shape over 10,000 acres as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The industrial city is being developed in Bidkin and Shendra nodes, with the Bidkin node already attracting significant investments from electric vehicle manufacturers, among others. Bhatia added that Centre plans to establish 100 additional industrial cities like Auric across the country. "In order to achieve the $30 trillion economy target, we have to grow at the rate of 9 to 10% every year. The development of manufacturing hubs is crucial to achieve this," he said. P Anbalagan, the principal secretary of the state industries department, who accompanied the Union secretary, said, "The necessary notification would be issued in the next two to three months, paving the way for the expansion of the AURIC." Bhatia also visited the Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC), emphasising that Indian startups should focus on building world-class products. "The Indian startups need to focus not just on India but on global markets. The country has emerged as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally," he said, praising MAGIC for securing more than 20 patents for startups and supporting tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Speaking on the occasion, Anbalagan announced that 15 new policies would soon be introduced by state govt, covering sectors such as defence, event management, logistics, deep technology, and special MSME support. "Funding worth Rs 3,000 crore will be made available across various domains for startups. Additionally, the 'MAITRI 2.0' portal will soon be launched, offering approvals for over 120 services through a single-window system," he said.

Family of brain-dead youth donates organs, saves 3 lives

1 2 Chandigarh: The PGI witnessed another inspiring moment as the family of a young engineering student turned personal tragedy into hope for others by donating his vital organs. Navneet Singh, 23, a resident of Gangath village, Nurpur, Kangra, suffered a severe head injury after accidentally falling from a rooftop on July 3. Despite receiving intensive medical care at PGI, he was declared brain dead on July 11. Amidst their grief, Navneet's father, Janak Singh, made the courageous decision to donate his son's organs. "Deciding to donate my son's organs was the hardest choice we have ever faced. But knowing that his organs would give others a chance to live has brought us some comfort in our sorrow. We are proud that Navneet's legacy will continue through these lives," he said. Following the family's consent, PGI's transplant teams retrieved Navneet's heart, kidneys, and pancreas. The kidneys and pancreas were transplanted into two critically ill patients at PGI, while the heart was allocated to a matching recipient at RML Hospital, New Delhi, through the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), as no suitable recipient was available at PGI. To ensure timely transport of the donor heart, a dedicated green corridor was created from PGI to Chandigarh International Airport, Mohali, and onward to New Delhi. The heart was successfully transplanted into a 26-year-old patient admitted at RML Hospital. At PGI, the department of renal transplant surgery, led by Prof Ashish Sharma, performed a simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplant on one recipient. This marked PGI's 63rd pancreas transplant — the highest number of such procedures performed by any institution across Indian states and union territories — curing the patient of Type I diabetes. The second kidney was transplanted into another patient suffering from end-stage renal failure and undergoing long-term dialysis.
