'A celebration for the people of Southampton': new music festival set for spring
A brand new music festival is coming to Southampton in May.
Playing the Field Festival at Eastleigh Football Club's Silverlake Stadium over the spring bank holiday weekend, will feature the likes of Feeder, The Coral and The Hoosiers.
The event, set to become an annual fixture, promises a great live music line-up, globe trotting DJs, local music legends and other activities.

Saturday May 24 is a family-friendly event with children of all ages welcome. Sunday May 25 is Dance in the Field day with the event open to strictly over 18s only.
Organisers, from city venues and brands including Engine Rooms and Orange Rooms, promise it will rival the biggest festivals, but all on our door step.
With a number of acts still to be announced, the line-up also includes Joel Corry, High Contrast and Fish Octagon.
The Under Cover Stage will feature top tributes to Oasis and Blur, alongside Mersey Britpop Bible, Mania the Abba tribute, Swiftogeddon and Sabrina Carpenter.
In The Big Top, enjoy D.O.D, Alan Fitzpatrick and Boogie Wonderland, hosted by Soul 45.
(Image: Newsquest) Other highlights include a silent disco, the world's largest bouncy castle, street food stalls, craft bars and cocktails, circus school, a fun fair, and character meet and greets.
A VIP area will feature a private tent with cosy seating, and a premium drinks service.
A spokesperson for Playing the Field Festival said: "This event is designed for everyone in the family, offering fun-filled activities, amazing entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere. Don't miss out on this celebration for the people of Southampton."
Welsh rockers Feeder formed in the 90s and have released 12 studio albums, 12 compilations, four EPs, and 43 singles while accumulating 25 top 75 singles between 1997 and 2012. Their biggest hits are Buck Rogers, Echo Park and Tumble and Fall.
The Coral are also 90s and 00s favourites. Hear hits like Pass It On and Shadows Fall and Dreaming Of You.
Worried About Ray will be included in a lively set from rockers The Hoosiers.
Early bird tickets for the event, which runs from midday to 10pm both days, are on sale now at playingthefieldfestival.co.uk .

Pop star's latest album cover slammed for depicting ‘humiliation ritual'
Sabrina Carpenter's latest album cover has drawn criticism from fans and media personalities alike. The 'Espresso' singer shared the cover art for her new album, 'Man's Best Friend,' on Instagram Wednesday, June 11. The cover shows the 26-year-old on her hands and knees, with one hand on the leg of a man who has her by the hair. In an interview with Rolling Stone that was done before the album cover was revealed, Carpenter said she was 'living in the glory of no one' knowing anything about the upcoming project. 'I can not care,' Carpenter told the outlet. 'I can not give a (expletive) about it, because I'm just so excited.' While World Music Views said on Facebook 'Man's Best Friend's' cover 'suggest a tongue-in-cheek commentary on power dynamics, gender, and self-possession,' many fans found it repulsive, offensive and degrading to women. 'Are we really gonna use 'irony' as an excuse here?,' one Instagram user commented on Carpenter's post. 'There's NOTHING ironic about this picture.' 'It's not a very empowering image for women,' another user commented.
