Fresh details emerge over why glamorous pro boxer and influencer Stefi Cohen was arrested on domestic violence charge

More details have been revealed in the case of powerlifter and former boxer Stefi Cohen after she was arrested in Miami-Dade County last week.
Cohen - full name Stefanie Cohen Magarici - was arrested on a domestic violence charge on July 2 stemming from an incident the day prior.
According to court documents (via TMZ), Cohen got physical with her boyfriend in an altercation at their Miami-area home on July 1 around 12:47pm.
Documents reveal that the alleged victim informed officers that the pair were arguing over their relationship when he discovered that Cohen 'was recording their conversation with her computer'.
At this point, the man told officers he grabbed his phone and put it in his pocket. Cohen then got physical with him - scratching him on his neck and chest and tearing his pants pocket in an attempt to get at the device. Cohen allegedly said she thought that he had grabbed her phone instead.
Documents say that Cohen told a different story, alleging that her boyfriend struck her with a closed fist and scratched her on her face.
But the report reads: 'based on the fact that the victim in this case is a professional fighter and the allegations made by the defendant claim that she was struck by him with a closed first, there is no physical evidence of injuries on the defendant [Cohen] that supports her allegations.'
Police added, 'the victim in this case had injuries consistent with his statement regarding what occurred with the defendant.'
Cohen, who has a professional boxing record of 4-1-1, was eventually detained and charged with domestic violence battery.
The pair had shared countless photos together over the past 18 months, with Tristan's last coming on June 25 - a week before his girlfriend's alleged arrest. Stefi has not posted any snaps with her man since March 28.
This isn't the first time that Cohen has had a run-in with the law having been arrested last year on a charge of sexual cyberharassment.
The Venezuela native allegedly accessed the ex in question's computer by trying commonly-used passwords, before accessing his iCloud - where she found several nude images of his new girlfriend and posted them to a group chat she was part of, according to court documents seen by NBC Miami.
He had reportedly left the computer behind when he left the home they shared in March 2022.
The alleged victim contacted police in November 2023, saying Cohen told her she was sending the images 'with the purpose of exposing and humiliating her.'
According to Men's Health, she holds the all-time world records for the squat, total, and deadlift for the 123-pound weight class
Cohen was arrested at her Coconut Grove home as she walked outside, with police saying she tried to resist arrest.
According to the police report, Cohen 'did not comply and began to walk at fast pace back to her residence.'
When police informed her she could not go back in the home, Cohen allegedly 'stated she was not going with them and began to physically resist.'
After being placed in handcuffs, Cohen reportedly 'tensed up her arms' and 'right leg hooked' one of the officers, allegedly trying to 'sweep him off his feet.'
Cohen continued trying to resist arrest after she was placed in the back of a squad car, per court documents.
Police say once in the patrol car, she 'placed her right leg on the latch to unlock the door and grabbed it with her toes.'
Cohen then 'pulled the latch with her toes and intentionally broke the locking system causing the door not to lock at all.'
She was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center but was released after posting a $3,300 bond and ordered to stay away from her ex and his new partner.
According to Men's Health, Cohen holds the all-time world records for the squat, total, and deadlift for the 123-pound weight class.
She has had six professional boxing fights to date, winning four of them and losing one while drawing the other.

Sweet little girl, 5, left seriously injured after two pit bulls attack her in friend's backyard

A five-year-old girl from Indiana is recovering from devastating injuries after two pit bulls mauled her in a friend's backyard. The attack in South Bend left her bloodied and permanently scarred in the brutal attack the occurred last month. Little Nylah Jones had only just stepped into her friend's backyard on S. Albert Avenue with her six-year-old brother when the two dogs lunged at her without warning sinking their teeth into her face and dragging her down as she cried for help. 'I just heard my son yelling "Mom! Mom!" said Jillquisha Jones, Nylah's mother to WNDU. 'I was like, "What's going on?" and he said, "The dog is on Nylah!"' The horrifying incident unfolded at around 7pm as neighbors ran outside to the sound of the youngster screaming. One neighbor, Angela, saw the child being carried in blood-soaked arms toward the street and said the scene was nothing short of horrific. 'She was bloody. She was carrying her,' Angela recalled. 'She met her mom and was like, "We've got to go to the hospital." It was just a really crazy scene.' Nylah's injuries were severe. She was rushed to the emergency room and is now left with dozens of deep cuts across her face - injuries that doctors say could leave her permanently disfigured. 'She has scars all over her face,' her mother said. 'They told me some of them might never go away.' The attack has left a lasting emotional imprint on Nylah's brother, who witnessed everything and now struggles to speak about it. 'Every time I look at her face, it just makes me really sad and cry,' he said told 21Alive. Nylah's family says the little girl is now afraid of going outside. 'My daughter almost died,' Jillquisha said. 'We could've lost her.' Her mother says she has since been stonewalled by local authorities and animal control, despite repeated attempts to get answers or action. 'At first, I just felt like they didn't care,' Jillquisha said. 'I'm calling them, I'm reaching out to animal control. Everybody from my friend's list on my social media tried to reach out, and they're not talking to me. They didn't say nothing. 'I don't care what kind of dog it is,' Jillquisha added. 'If it can do that to a child, something has to be done. 'There has to be more urgency. It shouldn't take a little girl being torn up for someone to care.' The two pit bulls were later voluntarily surrendered by their owners to the South Bend Animal Resource Center (SBARC), but no charges have been filed, and the city has yet to confirm what consequences the owners will face or whether the dogs will be euthanized. The City of South Bend said in a statement that all bite reports are reviewed 'on a case-by-case basis,' taking into account the source of the report, the severity of the bite, and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials from SBARC have confirmed they are aware of the incident but declined to comment on the ongoing investigation. This attack has reignited longstanding fears about safety around pit bulls, particularly when it comes to children. Animal rights groups and breed-specific advocates have long debated the temperament and risk posed by the breed, with critics pointing to fatal maulings and defenders blaming poor training or negligent owners.

Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok is posting antisemitic tropes on X

Elon Musk 's Grok chatbot, embedded in X, began making antisemitic statements on Tuesday following a significant update over the weekend. Grok echoed antisemitic tropes, claiming individuals with Jewish-sounding names are disproportionately linked to hate and deceitfulness, and was prompted by users to utter Nazi slogans. The Anti-Defamation League condemned Grok's responses as 'irresponsible, dangerous and antisemitic,' warning that such rhetoric would amplify extremism on X. The chatbot indicated its July 5 update, which included directives not to shy away from 'politically incorrect' claims, enabled its new behavior.

Funeral home owner accused of stashing decaying bodies expected to plead guilty in federal court

A funeral home owner in Colorado accused of storing nearly 190 decomposing bodies in a room-temperature building and defrauding the federal government out of nearly $900,000 is expected to plead guilty in federal court, according to court documents filed Tuesday. Carie Hallford, who ran Return to Nature Funeral Home with her husband Jon Hallford, allegedly duped the Small Business Administration out of almost $900,000 in pandemic-era relief aid and cheated customers who had paid for cremations the Hallfords never performed. Instead, the Hallfords are accused of spending the aid and customers' payments on lavish goods — luxury cars, cryptocurrency and items from stores like Gucci — all while stashing the bodies and sending fake ashes to the families. The Hallfords were charged with 15 fraud counts last year in federal court, where Jon Hallford already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and was sentenced to 20 years in prison last month. Carie Hallford is set to change her plea in federal court from not guilty in early August, and is expected to plead guilty, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Colorado. Hallford's attorney, Robert Charles Melihercik, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. In a separate case in state court, Jon and Carie Hallford are both charged with 191 counts of corpse abuse for allegedly stashing the bodies between 2019 and 2023 and burying the wrong body in two instances. The building in Penrose, about a two-hour drive south of Denver, was searched in 2023. Officials discovered bodies stacked atop each other, swarms of bugs and fluid covering the floor. Families were shaken to learn their loved ones' remains weren't in the ashes they had spread, but were instead left decaying, some for four years.
