Farmer pleads not guilty to posting offensive comments on Facebook
Mohammad Faisal Mohd Yusof, 37, entered the plea when the charge was read before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.
He was charged with knowingly posting and initiating the transmission of offensive comments via the Facebook account 'Mohd Faisal Yusop' with intent to annoy others.
The post was allegedly uploaded at 12.40 am on Feb 9 and came to the attention of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at around 1.40 pm the same day at MCMC Tower 1, Jalan Impact, Cyber 6, Cyberjaya.
The charge, framed under Section 233 (1) (a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and punishable under Section 233 (3) of the law, provides a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to one year or both, upon conviction.
MCMC deputy public prosecutor Fadhli Ab Wahab proposed bail of RM15,000 with one surety, citing the accused's failure to attend the case mention on April 30, which resulted in a warrant of arrest being issued.
However, the single father, who is unrepresented, pleaded for a lower bail amount, saying he had no fixed income and was supporting three children as well as his parents.

SUNGAI PETANI, July 13 — A newborn baby boy was found abandoned with no clothing or covering, on rocky ground by the roadside at Taman Cempaka Indah, Bukit Selambau, yesterday morning. He added that following the discovery, a 17-year-old male secondary school student has been remanded for two days, from yesterday, to assist with the investigation. 'A 19-year-old female, believed to be his partner, has been admitted to the hospital for further examination and treatment. Police hunt three men for cable theft in Dengkil area
POLICE are hunting three men suspected of being involved in a cable theft case after a video recording of their actions went viral on social media today. Sepang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman reportedly said his team received a report from Telekom Malaysia (TM) at 6.55pm after the 56-second video spread on Facebook since noon yesterday. 'The video recording showed a black Proton Perdana car carrying three men pulling cables at a residential area in Dengkil. 'Initial investigations found that the car used by the suspects had fake registration numbers and the stolen cables were 100-pair overhead copper cables measuring 200 metres long with estimated losses of RM10,000,' he told Kosmo, when contacted. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code. Members of the public with information can contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector B. Earlier, a video recording showed three men fleeing after being caught on camera while pulling cables in a lane at a residential area in Dengkil.

Leak of alleged Judicial Appointments Commission meeting minutes online triggers calls for probe
KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — An alleged excerpt of a Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting minutes from May has been leaked on social media. The excerpts, which appear to have originated on Reddit, are now circulating on Facebook and X. The minutes, which are classified, appear to contain allegations similar to those in a leaked police report lodged on behalf of a senior judge in June. 'Madness! If this document is true...' Public Accounts Committee chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said on Facebook. The police report was made after Malaysiakini contacted the judge on June 12 seeking comment on allegations that the judge was accused of judicial interference during a JAC meeting in May. Mas Ermieyati, who is also the Masjid Tanah MP, said while it is unknown whether the leaked document is real or fake, it carries very serious allegations. 'The government must answer and an investigation must be launched,' she urged. The allegations against the senior judge, as well as concerns about alleged interference in the appointment of judges after Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat retired as chief justice, have sparked outrage. Last week, nine PKR lawmakers led by Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli called for a royal commission of inquiry as well as the Parliament Special Select Committee on reforms to probe the allegations. Rafizi claimed that a scandal as bad as the VK Lingam judge-fixing episode may be in the making. The Malaysian Bar will be marching on Monday to hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim calling for an RCI among other demands. Meanwhile, Anwar will meet with Pakatan Harapan MPs regarding the scandal on Monday as well. The Attorney General's Chambers has downplayed concerns about the judiciary, saying a comparison to the Lingam scandal was unwarranted. It also said that the allegations against the senior judge were just pure speculation about 'procedural irregularities'.
