Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi to hold its annual art exhibition from tomorrow
A showcase of the art of our times, the exhibition intends to encourage artists to present their works to a larger audience in a professional setting, interact with art lovers, and stay up to date with today's art trends — a platform for exhibiting the latest works of artists from the Tricity, professionals and students. The Akademi had invited entries from artists of the Tricity for the exhibition, both in student and professional categories, and a jury selected 162 works in both categories.
Three artists in the professional category, Vishal Rawat (sculpture), Reena Bhatnagar (painting), and Pankaj Saroj (watercolour), received Rs 50,000 each, with merit awards for both professional and student categories. The works are diverse in mediums, treatments, subjects and philosophy, be it sculptures, paintings, photographs, graphics, printmaking, installations, drawings, with the artists experimenting with materials, presentation, use of colours, textures and subjects. The works, depicting many emotions, everyday life, human interactions, and journeys, both internal and external, strive to create a dialogue, with a room for interpretations and reflections.
The exhibition will be on from July 23 to August 31, 11 am to 7 pm.

Dhadak 2 maintains a weak hold at the box office Dhadak 2, which serves as the remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018), had a below-par weekend trend. The romantic drama has been maintaining a weak hold since its release. While the movie received positive word of mouth, its appreciation is not translating into box office numbers. The film is locking horns with Son of Sardaar 2 at the box office. The Ajay Devgn-led comedy film has performed better than the Dhadak sequel. Meanwhile, holdover releases like Mahavatar Narsimha and Saiyaara are scoring better than both the new movies in the Hindi markets. Dhadak 2 In Theatres Dhadak 2 plays in theatres now.
