Mike Brown embracing lofty expectations in first comments as Knicks coach
'Nobody has any bigger expectations, first of all, than I do,' Brown said Tuesday during his introductory press conference at the team's practice facility in Tarrytown. 'My expectations are high. This is the Knicks. I talked about Madison Square Garden being iconic. I love and embrace the expectations that come along with it. So, I'm looking forward to it.'
Brown is looking beyond just ending the Knicks' 52-year championship drought, however.
'Our goal, starting with Mr. [James] Dolan to Leon [Rose] to the players, all the way down to the fans, is to build a sustainable, winning culture that produces championships. That's why I'm here,' said Brown, who's won four NBA titles as an assistant coach.
The Knicks agreed to hire Brown last week after firing Tom Thibodeau in the days following the team's elimination by the Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals, their first appearance in the conference finals in 25 years.

Brown, Taylor Jenkins, Micah Nori, James Borrego and Dawn Staley all spoke to the Knicks about their head coaching job after the team was denied permission to speak with the Mavericks' Jason Kidd, Rockets' Ime Udoka, Timberwolves' Chris Finch, Bulls' Billy Donovan and Hawks' Quin Snyder.
Brown, 55, was most recently the head coach of the Kings, with whom he earned Coach of the Year honors in his first season two years ago.
Sacramento fired him 31 games into the 2024-25 season when they were 13-18.
He first became a head coach in 2005 with the LeBron James-led Cavaliers and reached the NBA Finals in 2007.

De'Aaron Fox Trade Watch: 4 Teams Who Could Land The Spurs Star
De'Aaron Fox Trade Watch: 4 Teams Who Could Land The Spurs Star originally appeared on Fadeaway World. De'Aaron Fox just arrived in San Antonio, but his long-term future with the Spurs is far from certain. After spending years as the face of the Kings franchise, Fox was traded this February to help jumpstart a Spurs backcourt around Victor Wembanyama. Still, early whispers suggest the fit may not be permanent. If things don't click in year one, Fox could be on the move again—and several contenders would line up to make a deal. At 27 years old, Fox is one of the best young guards in the league with incredible scoring abilities and an unmatched quickness with the ball. He spent the first years of his career as the star of the show in Sacramento, but now he's playing second fiddle behind Victor Wembanyama. With just one year and $37.0 million left on his contract, Fox is up for free agency next summer, and several teams will be in pursuit with career averages of 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game on 44.6% shooting. With Dylan Harper now in the fold, Fox's future is more uncertain than ever. San Antonio could look to move him by the trade deadline for the right return. Here are four teams that could emerge as top destinations if the Spurs decide to flip their star guard: Heat Find Their Starting Point Guard The first package is designed as a mutually beneficial swap between the Spurs and Heat. In exchange for their starting point guard (who is also a former All-Star), San Antonio can add depth in the form of two versatile wing players. Proposed Trade Details San Antonio Spurs Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Haywood Highsmith, 2030 first-round pick Miami Heat Receive: De'Aaron Fox, 2032 second-round pick For the Heat, this trade gives them the All-Star caliber point guard they've been searching for. While giving up huge rotation players in Wiggins and Highsmith would be a tough sell, it might be worth it to finally settle on a long-term solution at point guard. With Fox and Bam Adebayo, the Heat could make some noise in the East and may not be far off from joining the ranks of the most elite contenders. In San Antonio, the youth movement is still alive and well. Without Fox, the Spurs can lean more on their 2025 draft pick, Dylan Harper, who will be learning the game and developing his skills alongside Victor Wembanyama. Between that dynamic and the impact of players like Stephon Castle, Jeremy Sochan, Devin Vassell, and Keldon Johnson, San Antonio can become a true force in the Western Conference. Chicago Bulls Add Star Power While De'Aaron Fox's exact trade value is unknown, the Spurs would likely only accept a deal that includes a star or a future first-round draft pick. Their demands are out of range for most teams, but the Bulls can create a formidable package centered around their 2029 first-round pick. Proposed Trade Details San Antonio Spurs Receive: Patrick Williams, Kevin Huerter, 2029 first-round pick, 2030 second-round pick Chicago Bulls Receive: De'Aaron Fox As a young team on the rise, the Spurs will prioritize players who can help build up their future. And while Patrick Williams and sharpshooter Kevin Huerter are not the most lucrative additions, they have the potential to improve with a fresh start. At the very least, their shooting abilities should help space the floor for Wembanyama, who already has the paint under lock and key. If that wasn't enough, the Spurs will also be getting two draft picks to use at their discretion. In exchange, Chicago gets their first star point guard since the departure of Derrick Rose. As a team stuck in purgatory, the addition of Fox has the potential to revitalize the Bulls and elevate their position in the East. While they'd still be far from contention, this trade would at least give the Bulls someone to build around in hopes of moving up the standings. Celtics Create New Big Three In The East One of the biggest stories of the summer is the deconstruction happening in Boston. A slew of injuries last season has shifted their timeline, but they can still make moves that will increase their standing when Tatum and Brown return in 2026. Proposed Trade Details San Antonio Spurs Receive: Derrick White, Sam Hauser, 2031 first-round pick Boston Celtics Receive: De'Aaron Fox The Spurs will have a lot of trade options for Fox, who is one of the most coveted guards in the NBA. If their goal is to become a championship team, they could do a whole lot worse than Derrick White and Sam Hauser, who have the experience, skills, and temperament to make a real impact in San Antonio. Plus, that 2031 first-round pick will give them another asset to add to their growing stockpile. Of course, the Celtics make out as the true winners here. This trade lets Boston add a dynamic point guard without touching their superstar duo—forming a legitimate Big Three in the East. While the 2024-25 campaign may already be doomed for Boston, they could be a real title threat with Fox, Brown, Tatum, and potentially Anfernee Simons running the show. Pelicans Acquire Help For Zion Williamson In the West, the New Orleans Pelicans have been struggling for a while now, and they desperately need to find some help for their disgruntled superstar (Zion Williamson). Their moves so far have not panned out, but De'Aaron Fox would not be a bad choice for them if they're willing to pay the steep price. Proposed Trade Details San Antonio Spurs Receive: Trey Murphy III, Jose Alvarado, Yves Missi, 2028 first-round pick, 2030 first-round pick New Orleans Pelicans Receive: De'Aaron Fox, 2032 second-round pick If the Spurs want maximum pick return, this would be the deal to accept. While Trey Murphy III, Jose Alvarado, and Yves Missi would make fine additions to the rotation, the real incentive for the Spurs to make this move is the idea of adding two first-round draft picks. It not only gives them a chance to further upgrade their young core, but it also gives them more assets to use in a win-now trade. The Pelicans' situation with Zion Williamson has reached a crossroads, and adding another star to the mix is likely the first major step to improvement. With a true, elite-level point guard running the offense, New Orleans could finally have a breakthrough in the West for the first time in years. What Is The Future For De'Aaron Fox? De'Aaron Fox may be in San Antonio for now, but his name is one to watch as the season unfolds. With free agency looming and the Spurs loaded with backcourt talent, it's only a matter of time before teams start circling. Whether it's Miami, Boston, Chicago, or New Orleans, Fox would be a difference-maker on any roster, and the trade market could heat up fast if the Spurs decide to move on. For now, it's all just a waiting game for Fox and the Spurs. As the offseason continues to play out, we'll get a clearer picture of what kind of plans they may have for this upcoming campaign and beyond. Whether they trade De'Aaron or not, the Spurs are out to compete, and they will do whatever it takes to appease their French superstar, Victor story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 24, 2025, where it first appeared.

Dylan Harper Could Make De'Aaron Fox Tradeable In The Coming Years
Dylan Harper Could Make De'Aaron Fox Tradeable In The Coming Years originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Dylan Harper's arrival in San Antonio has already begun to stir questions about the long-term future of De'Aaron Fox with the Spurs. A recent quote from an anonymous Western Conference scout brought that tension to the surface, stating: 'Harper has some Ginobili to his offensive game. If the 3-point shot ever becomes a true weapon, he makes Fox expendable and gives San Antonio a nice trade asset.' That's a bold assertion, but it's grounded in context. Fox joined the Spurs in a blockbuster three-team trade in February, forming what looked like the backcourt-frontcourt dream pairing with rising superstar Victor Wembanyama. And to his credit, Fox delivered early results, averaging 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in just 17 games before a left pinkie injury required season-ending surgery. Though it was a small sample size, his on-court chemistry with Wembanyama gave Spurs fans hope that a new era was underway. But this is the NBA, and things change fast. Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, isn't just a top prospect, he's an elite three-level scorer who could reshape San Antonio's timeline. At Rutgers, Harper averaged 23.5 points per game on an impressive 52% shooting from the field, along with 36.4% from deep and 75.9% from the free throw line. More importantly, he plays with the kind of mature, controlled aggression that makes scouts salivate. He doesn't just score, he creates. His tight dribble, control over tempo, and ability to get buckets from anywhere on the floor have drawn comparisons to crafty guards like Ginobili. And Harper isn't just a scorer. He's averaging 4.4 assists per game, showing he can distribute even while carrying the scoring load. His change of pace and one-on-one scoring toolkit, highlighted by crossovers, hesitations, and spin moves, makes him a potential offensive engine for years to come. That brings us back to Fox. The 26-year-old guard is on the final year of his contract, due $37 million this season. He's eligible for a massive four-year, $228.6 million extension and has publicly stated he's open to staying in San Antonio long term. The Spurs, according to multiple reports, are hopeful he signs. But Harper's presence complicates things. If Harper thrives, he could fill the same primary playmaking role Fox currently occupies, at a fraction of the cost and with more long-term upside. Fox is still an All-Star caliber player, but the math changes when you're building around a generational big man like Wembanyama. If Harper proves he can run the offense, shoot from distance, and thrive next to Wembanyama, San Antonio could shop Fox as a premium trade asset, one who could return depth, picks, or a wing star better suited to complementing Wemby. For now, the Spurs are playing it safe, developing Harper while keeping Fox as the present-day lead guard. But make no mistake: the countdown has begun. If Harper explodes as expected, San Antonio's future may belong to the rookie and not the story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 24, 2025, where it first appeared.

NBA Fans Erupt After Spurs Beat Jazz At The Buzzer At Summer League
NBA Fans Erupt After Spurs Beat Jazz At The Buzzer At Summer League originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The San Antonio Spurs' Summer League campaign continues to impress as they rolled to another win on Monday night. Coming off a dramatic 91-89 overtime win against the Utah Jazz, the Spurs improve to a tournament-best record of 3-0. The Spurs vs. Jazz game was one of the most exciting games in this year's edition of the tournament. With the game headed down to the wire after a miraculous dunk by Kyle Filipowski to tie the game in OT, Spurs forward Riley Minix came up with the shot to put an end to matters. Off an inbounds pass by Harrison Ingram, Minix turned over his left shoulder to knock down a smooth contested fadeaway from the baseline to win it all. After a steady back-and-forth over four quarters, the Spurs nearly edged out the Jazz to secure the victory, and fans couldn't get enough of it. With adrenaline rushing through their veins after watching the buzzer-beating game-winner, several fans took to social media to share their reactions to the game. "Bruh, that ending was wild," said one fan. Another fan chimed along by repeating, "Oh my, what an ending." One fan made a very detailed observation of the players' reactions and said, "You can see the pure joy and relief on their faces." Meanwhile, another fan was quite critical of the Spurs' performance, saying, "That was such a summer league ending to a game. Spurs were lucky to have a shot at winning it; their D completely collapsed on the previous play, and it could easily have been a 3 instead of a dunk." "Looks like Ray Allen against the Spurs in the Finals," added another fan, bringing up a sad memory for Spurs fans. "That was wild! You never know what to expect in those final moments," said another fan, cheering along. "Nasty for the dub," added another. One fan shared an interesting conspiracy and said, "That finish was straight-up chaos. Spurs-Jazz delivered all the drama—NBA scriptwriters working overtime!" Another fan just showed pure love for the game and commented, "SL guys hooping like it's GM7 of the finals. Peak basketball." "Gotta love summer hoops," claimed another fan. The game saw some impressive performances by the talented young players. No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper led the Spurs' starting lineup in scoring with 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists. He was closely supported by Ingram and Minix, who had 15 points and 13 points, respectively. Carter Bryant, San Antonio's newest defensive stopper, had a low-scoring game of only five points. But with two blocks and a steal, he continued to make an impact on the floor. Utah saw some truly spectacular outings today. Playing without Ace Bailey, the Jazz saw No. 32 overall pick Kyle Filipowski take over yet again. The Jazz big man is having a generational run at Summer League as he added another solid performance to his tally, notching 35 points and 11 rebounds for the game. Although Utah had more balanced scoring from their starting rotation, they saw virtually no contributions from their bench. Meanwhile, San Antonio saw David Jones-Garcia step up to the plate once again, as he recorded 28 points, six rebounds, and four assists on the night. After this win, the Spurs are third in the tournament, coming up behind the Charlotte Hornets and the Sacramento Kings. With an unbeaten record and an immensely gifted core, San Antonio will hope to continue their winning streak in their next game against the Hornets on story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 15, 2025, where it first appeared.
