‘Love this' cry shoppers as they run to Tesco for summer co-ord that's ‘stunning on'

The Sun26-05-2025
THE warmer weather is set to return this weekend, so it's the perfect chance to pick up a summer staple in Tesco.
The supermarket's in-house fashion label, F&F, is renowned for its stylish buys at affordable prices.

And if you're looking for a timeless but trendy co-ord to add to your outfit rotation, you've come to the right place.
Fashion fans have insisted the new Tesco polka dot two-piece looks "stunning on" and hailed it as a must-have for summer.
The black polka dot midi skirt is priced at £22.50, while the matching puff sleeve cropped top will cost you £16
Both pieces come in sizes six to 22 and are available in-store and on the newly launched F&F website.
They can be worn together, or pair the top with jeans and heels and the skirt with a Skims dupe bodysuit to get extra wear out of them.
Describing the co-ord online, the Tesco team say: "Complete with a split hem detail, this midi skirt adds a classic touch to your daily essentials.
"Designed with an all-over polka dot print, the relaxed silhouette and gathered waistband make it ideal for dressed-up events.
"Team with the matching top for a statement look.
"From its polka dot print to its short puff sleeves, this top is a on-trend piece in your dressed-up wardrobe."
Unsurprisingly, fashion fans have been in a frenzy over the monochrome buys since spotting them on the rails.
I work at Tesco and there's so much newness in store - I love it all, but a holiday co-ord is sure to be a sell out
One gushed: "Seen this in store today, it is absolutely stunning."
"Love this", chimed in a second.
A third wrote: "Bet this would be stunning on!"
"I bought this as a 5ft1 girl I love it", revealed a fourth.
A fifth cried: "Tesco you really have out done yourself…. Girls get yourself to Tesco."
Meanwhile, a sixth added: "I've bought this wearing it brunching tomorrow."
Welcomed News
While supermarket clothing used to be drab and something only your nan would wear, they are now keeping up with the likes of Zara and Mango but at a fraction of the price.
Many supermarkets list their clothing online along with homeware but there's one that didn't join the party, Tesco.
But it seems the retailer has finally listened to customers and has put their fashion items online for the first time in seven years.
Fashion ranges launched by the firm have garnered huge social media attention, with some going as far to say that it is the "new Zara".
The news has taken shoppers by storm, who are thrilled they don't have to hunt for viral items in stores anymore.
Details of the launch were confirmed in Tesco's financial results published earlier this year in April.
And shoppers have been excited for the launch, taking to social media, one wrote: "OMG I'm so glad it's coming back."
A third added: "Yes! I've missed them being online."
The supermarket launched it's fashion brand F&F online discreetly at the start of May.
Is supermarket fashion the new high street?
DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:
The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.
Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.
Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.
So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?
Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.
A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.
Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.

Jeff Stewart: Actor who played Reg Hollis in The Bill helps police arrest shoplifter

The actor who played PC Reg Hollis in hit TV series The Bill has been praised by officers after helping them arrest a shoplifter. Jeff Stewart stepped in when a thief attempted to escape on a bicycle in Southampton on Wednesday. In a statement, a Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "The thief, 29-year-old Mohamed Diallo, fell off the bike during his attempts to flee, before officers pounced to make their arrest. "To their surprise, local TV legend Jeff Stewart, who played PC Hollis for 24 years in The Bill, came to their aid by sitting on the suspect's legs while officers put him in cuffs. "In policing you should always expect the unexpected, but this really wasn't on The Bill for this week." The Bill was broadcast on ITV between 1984 and 2010 and featured the fictional lives of police officers from the Sun Hill police station in east London. Mr Stewart, who was among the original cast, appeared in more than 1,000 episodes as PC Hollis. In praising Mr Stewart's actions, the force said: "Long since retired from Sun Hill station - but he's still got it." Police from the Bargate Neighbourhoods Policing Team were alerted by staff at a Co-op store in Ocean Way to a suspected shoplifter on Wednesday. Mohamed Diallo, 29, of Anglesea Road, Southampton, was subsequently charged with five offences of theft relating to coffee, alcohol and food from the Co-op and two other Sainsbury's stores on three dates in April and July. He pleaded guilty at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday and was bailed to be sentenced on August 29.

Legendary ITV police drama star 'helps police arrest real-life criminal'

An actor who spent nearly 25 years playing a police officer on The Bill has helped combat a real-life criminal. From 1984 to 2008 Jeff Stewart took on the role of PC Reg Hollis on the ITV drama series. The police procedural focused on the lives and work of one shift of police officers of all ranks, with the storylines following situations faced by uniformed officers working on the beat, as well as plainclothes detectives. Joining the series the year it began, Jeff first appeared in the premiere episode Funny Ol' Business – Cops & Robbers. By 2007 he was the last member of the cast remaining from that first episode. His character was written off the following year, with The Bill then ending in 2010. Now, it appears the 69-year-old actor took a leaf out of his character's playbook after stepping in to stop a crime. Earlier this week Southampton resident Mohamed Diallo, 29, appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court, where details of the incident were revealed. The court was that after Diallo shoplifted and attempted to escape on a bicycle, Jeff jumped into action by sitting on the suspect's legs after he fell from the bike, while officers handcuffed him. 'In policing you should always expect the unexpected, but this really wasn't on The Bill for this week,' a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said. 'Officers making an arrest in Southampton were aided by none other than TV's Pc Reg Hollis during an incident on Wednesday 23 July. He replied: 'No, sure, man. Well, I was in The Bill for 24 years, in the TV show. Yeah, I played Reg.' Diallo was charged with five counts of theft, to which he pleaded guilty. Diallo was convicted of the theft of £17.25 worth of coffee from a Co-op on July 23, theft of £69.90 worth of coffee and food items on July 17, and £54.50 of alcohol and coffee from the same shop on July 14.
