Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stated that the coalition government stands by those in need and provides relief to affected families through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. He informed that over the past year, a total of Rs 1, 88, 91, 144 has been sanctioned for 147 beneficiaries within his constituency.
He further lauded Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his humanitarian approach and prompt response in assisting families suffering from health issues. Beneficiaries, their family members, and local leaders participated in the programme.

A man from China's Anhui province spent more than 4.3 million yuan (Rs 4.9 crore) over two years at a hair salon for unlicensed detox and wellness services, only to suffer serious health complications and be denied a refund, a local report said. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), it all began in April 2023 when Cheng visited a new salon branch in Hefei, the provincial capital. During the launch event, a salon manager invited Cheng inside, where another staff member encouraged him to try a 'beautician's massage.' Cheng told the South China Morning Post that the session turned out to be the start of a persistent and high-pressure sales campaign. He said he was regularly forced to top up his salon account through emotional manipulation. 'They were all young boys and girls, kneeling and saying they were poor and couldn't even afford rent, relying on customers to help support their parents. Older beauticians nearby would consistently urge customers to top up, stating that the staff earned commissions based on performance,' the SCMP quoted Cheng as saying. The salon's offerings included a range of unverified treatments, such as 'skin-breaking needle detox', massages costing 500–600 yuan per body part, and 'belly dampness removal' sessions priced at up to 2,000 yuan. Cheng also underwent multiple enema procedures, marketed as 'bowel cleansing', with one course reportedly priced at 300,000 yuan (Rs 36.2 lakh). While promised results included weight loss and a youthful glow, Cheng said the treatments left him with chronic diarrhoea and unhealed needle wounds. When he discovered that the salon was not licensed to perform medical procedures, he demanded a refund. However, he was turned down. Cheng has since filed a complaint with local authorities. According to SCMP, the Hefei police confirmed on July 9 that a joint investigation with market supervision officials is now underway to probe the salon's alleged illegal medical practices.

Odisha CM's grievance cell records 91% resolution rate
BHUBANESWAR: With resolution of around 91 per cent of the complaints received at the chief minister's grievance cell till the 12th round, the grievance redressal mechanism of the state government has proved to be a big success. The grievance cell of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had received 11,516 complaints till the 12th round held on July 7 out of which 10,502 complaints have been resolved. The remaining complaints are in the process of being addressed, officials said. Majhi who heard public grievances in Unit-II area of the city on Monday provided immediate medical assistance to three critically-ill persons from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Since the revival of the CM's grievance cell last year, 51 people have received Rs 55 lakh in medical assistance through the system. As usual, the chief minister began the day by meeting differently-abled persons first and addressing individual complaints outside the grievance cell. He then attended to the people waiting inside the hall. He directed the secretaries and other senior officials of departments concerned to ensure prompt disposal of all grievances. Nine ministers including Revenue minister Suresh Pujari, Law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Health minister Mukesh Mahaling, Commerce and Transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Housing and Urban Development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Panchayati Raj minister Rabi Narayan Naik assisted the chief minister.
