While Block has not admitted any wrongdoing, it agreed last month to resolve the lawsuit with a $12.5 million payout.
Who qualifies for the Cash App settlement?
According to CNET and Newsweek, the settlement only applies to residents of Washington state who received these marketing messages between November 14, 2019, and an undetermined end date.
Block is expected to notify eligible people via email or physical mail based on phone records.
An estimated 2 million people may fall under this class, according to CNET's reporting.
How much could you receive?
Payouts will depend on how many people submit valid claims. If all 2 million eligible recipients participate, each could receive between $88 and $147, CNET and Newsweek reported.
How to apply?
No official claim form or deadline has been announced yet. However, eligible users are encouraged to watch for an official notice from Block and submit claims promptly once the window opens.
This is not the first time Block has faced such allegations. In 2024, the company paid $15 million in a separate class action over data misuse, and later faced $175 million in penalties from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for security lapses.

Boss buys Rs 5 lakh artwork from artist who abused her employee. What happens next leaves Internet in awe

An employer has earned widespread admiration online after taking a striking stand against an artist who had allegedly mistreated one of her team members at her restaurant. A video that has since gone viral on the subreddit Amazing captures the powerful moment she retaliated in a dramatic fashion. In the footage, the woman is seen purchasing a piece of artwork by renowned artist Romero Britto for a hefty sum of $5,000 (approximately Rs 5 lakh), only to immediately destroy it right in front of him. The artist, clearly stunned, watches as his own creation is shattered. The post's caption explains the background—the woman had once encountered the artist behaving rudely to one of her staff members while dining at her restaurant. The incident, though perhaps long past, clearly left a mark. The viral clip captures the woman confronting the artist and expressing her fury, shouting, 'Never go to my restaurant and disrespect an employee… never!' at the shell-shocked artist. Viewers flooded the comment section, praising the employer's commitment to her team. Many lauded her courage and leadership, saying she had earned lifelong loyalty from her staff. Several commenters remarked on the emotional weight of the moment. One noted how visibly shaken the artist appeared as he saw his own work demolished—the symbolic destruction resonating more deeply than words ever could. Another user pointed out that the act likely did more damage to his public image than to the artwork itself, speculating that such a viral incident could potentially tarnish his professional reputation. The employer's fearless move prompted many to reflect on the qualities of true leadership. Commenters shared how such actions build unbreakable trust among employees, reinforcing the idea that good leaders inspire unwavering loyalty. For some, she represented the kind of boss people would go to extreme lengths for, simply because she had demonstrated character, conviction, and a sense of justice. Stories of Other Inspiring Bosses Emerge The viral moment also led others to share their own positive experiences with exceptional employers. One user recounted how they told their boss they'd follow him into any situation—a bond forged from mutual respect and a work culture built on fairness and hard work. This boss, described as humble, intelligent, and deeply dedicated, was the type of leader who led by example—arriving early, giving generously, and creating an environment where employees genuinely wanted to contribute to his success. Such examples show that when leaders prioritize respect and loyalty, the impact ripples far beyond the workplace. Govt works on plan to deregulate licensing requirements to transform Delhi into an 'investment destination'

In a push to enhance ease of doing business in Delhi , the Centre has urged the Lieutenant Governor to implement reforms aimed at easing licensing norms and establishing a single-window clearance system to position the capital as an 'investment destination', reported ToI. A major proposal under consideration is the elimination of mandatory health trade, general trade, and factory licences currently issued by the MCD and NDMC to commercial establishments across the city. Sources told TOI that the Centre has described these as "low-hanging fruits" that can be quickly "fructified" through executive orders or notifications, without the need to amend existing laws. The push comes days after LG VK Saxena cleared a proposal withdrawing Delhi Police's powers to issue licences to seven categories of businesses — swimming pools, eateries, hotels, guest houses, discotheques, video game parlours, amusement parks and auditoriums. Live Events Officials said a recent presentation was made to the Prime Minister, highlighting reforms already introduced by the Lieutenant Governor to streamline business regulations in Delhi. Impressed by Saxena's efforts, the PM directed officials to ensure that traders are no longer entangled in bureaucratic red tape while setting up operations. According to officials, the deregulation cell conducted an extensive review of existing laws and held multiple rounds of consultations with representatives from the Delhi government, MCD, NDMC, DDA, RERA, and the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. These discussions, along with an analysis of best practices from other states, shaped the final set of recommendations aimed at untangling the regulatory web created by overlapping agency jurisdictions. One of the reforms — exempting GST- or FSSAI-registered businesses from mandatory Shops and Establishment Act registration — can be implemented via a labour department notification, reported TOI. To streamline the process, the cell has suggested designating either MCD or NDMC as the nodal agency for all business-related licences. It has proposed that applicants be required to visit only one office for all approvals. It further recommended transferring powers to issue FSSAI and weights and measures licences to the civic agency and designating the MCD commissioner or NDMC chairperson as commissioner of food safety and controller of legal metrology. "Any other licence for commercial activity currently handled by Delhi govt should also be brought under MCD to ensure a single point of contact," the cell said. The recommendations noted that these reforms would pave the way for a truly effective single-window clearance system. The Lieutenant Governor has been advised to bring all key stakeholders — including MCD, NDMC, FSSAI, GST, ESIC, EPF, fire services, and the DPCC — onto a unified platform to streamline approvals and coordination.
