NEW DELHI: Former India all-rounder
Irfan Pathan
has called on pace spearhead
Jasprit Bumrah
to step up and give his absolute best, if the team needs it, in the crucial fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester.
With India trailing 1-2 in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar series, Bumrah is set to feature in his final Test of the series, beginning Wednesday — a must-win clash for the visitors.
India will bank heavily on their premier fast bowler to deliver a match-defining spell and help level the series before heading back to London for the decider.

Pathan, while expressing his admiration for Bumrah's skills, stressed the importance of pushing beyond limits when the team demands it.
He also underlined the value of total commitment at the international level, saying players should either give everything or sit out.
"I adore Bumrah; his skill is outstanding. However, I believe that when you play for India, you have to give it your all. When you talk about a five-over spell, when Root comes, you are not bowling the sixth over. You have to give it all. Either you give everything or you rest properly. When it comes to a nation or a team, when you are playing for a team, you play for them.

Injuries, rain, availability concerns: Team India on edge in Manchester | Exclusive updates ahead of 4th Test
Pathan's remarks come in the wake of Ben Stokes' heroic performance at Lord's. The England captain, named Player of the Match, bowled 44 overs — his third-highest workload in a Test — and made vital contributions with the bat, scoring 44 and 33 in the two innings. He also effected a game-changing run out of Rishabh Pant.
Despite managing a heavy workload and his own fitness concerns, Stokes dug deep to bowl a spirited 9.2-over spell on the final morning, helping his side defend 192.
He followed that up with a ten-over burst after lunch, during which he dismissed Bumrah to seal England's dramatic 22-run win and take a 2-1 series lead.
Bumrah, who returned for the third Test after being rested in Edgbaston, bowled 43 overs across both innings. But Pathan suggested India needed more, especially in high-stakes moments.
Jofra Archer's return to Test cricket after a four-year hiatus due to injuries was another example Pathan pointed to.
Archer, despite limited match practice, hit speeds of 150kph, troubled the Indian batters, and ended with match figures of 5/105 — bowling in partnership with Stokes during critical phases.
Pathan clarified that he isn't questioning Bumrah's commitment but urged him to consistently go the extra mile — much like Stokes and Archer — to help India win.

"Not questioning that he hasn't put in efforts. He has bowled overs.
There is no doubt about it. However, when it comes to going the extra mile for the team, you have to do that. Bumrah will remain at the top for a long time if he continues to win games regularly for India. You have to put in that extra effort when the team needs you. Ben Stokes did that, and Jofra did it after four years," he added.
India's squad for the 4th Test:
Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj.

Acquitted but sidelined: Carter Hart, Cal Foote, Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton and Michael McLeod await NHL decision after Hockey Canada scandal verdict

Photo by Brian Babineau/NHLI via Getty Images The hockey world was stunned this week when a Canadian court delivered a not guilty verdict in a case that has dominated headlines for years. Five players connected to the 2018 Hockey Canada scandal—Cal Foote, Dillon Dube, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, and Michael McLeod—were cleared of criminal charges on Tuesday in London, Ontario. Yet the verdict hasn't brought an automatic return to the NHL. Instead, the league has hit the pause button, opting to review the judge's findings before making any decisions. For fans and teams desperate for clarity, this uncertainty has sparked one question: what happens next for these players? NHL calls allegations 'unacceptable' as Gary Bettman reviews verdict in Hockey Canada scandal involving Carter Hart and four others Hours after the ruling, the NHL released a statement from its New York offices addressing the situation. The league didn't mince words: 'The allegations made in this case, even if not determined to have been criminal, were very disturbing and the behavior at issue was unacceptable,' the league wrote. 'We will be reviewing and considering the judge's findings. While we conduct that analysis and determine next steps, the players charged in this case are ineligible to play in the League.' The statement highlights an important reality: when it comes to personal conduct, the NHL doesn't simply follow the courts. Its policy operates independently of legal outcomes. That's why these players haven't appeared in an NHL game since the 2023-24 season, when they were ruled ineligible due to a conduct policy violation—not a conviction. Which Hockey Canada players are impacted—and when could the NHL reinstate them? The five players at the center of this story—Foote, Dube, Hart, Formenton, and McLeod—now face an uncertain future. While their legal battle has ended, the league's review process could take days or even weeks. If Commissioner Gary Bettman reinstates them, expect a rush of interest from NHL teams. Among the group, Carter Hart is the biggest name. The 27-year-old goaltender boasts more than 200 NHL starts and would instantly become a top free-agent target for clubs desperate for depth in net. The other four—Foote, Dube, Formenton, and McLeod—are also expected to land new deals quickly if given the green light. What this means for the NHL While the verdict closes a major legal chapter, the league's decision will shape its reputation for years. Fans and media are watching closely: does the NHL prioritize its integrity policy, or does it open the door for second chances? The courtroom may have delivered its verdict, but the NHL still holds the final say. Until Bettman and his team complete their review, these five players remain sidelined, and their futures hang in the balance. One thing is clear: the next move by the NHL will be among the most scrutinized decisions in recent memory. NFL Super Bowl ticket scandal: 100+ players fined for flipping tickets above face value

Credit : Nick Tre. Smith/Icon Sportswire via Getty You'd think the real action happens on the field, turns out, some NFL stars were busy running a whole resale hustle off it. The league just dropped a bombshell, fining more than 100 players and nearly two dozen club employees for flipping their Super Bowl 59 tickets for profit. Yep, that golden ticket turned into a scandal. The league isn't laughing, fans are roasting, and now the internet has a new favorite buzzword: Ticketgate. NFL cracks down on over 100 players and staff for reselling Super Bowl tickets According to AP's Rob Maaddi, this isn't just a minor slap on the wrist. The NFL investigated and found that dozens of players and team employees resold their Super Bowl 59 tickets above face value, violating league policy. Players are hit with fines worth 1.5x the ticket's value, while employees are being charged 2x the face value. What makes it messier? Many sold their tickets to so-called "bundlers" aka third-party brokers who scoop up multiple tickets and resell them at jaw-dropping prices. This goes against everything the NFL stands for (on paper, anyway). The punishment is serious, some may lose Super Bowl access for two whole years If you thought a fine was the worst part, think again. The league announced that those involved in the scandal will lose access to Super Bowl tickets for the next two years unless they're playing in the game. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Anne Hegerty And Her Partner, Who You Will Easily Recognize Sport Pirate Undo So, unless you're on the field come February, no golden ticket for you. The NFL made it clear this isn't just about money. It's about trust, image, and fairness especially when loyal fans are already priced out of attending one of the biggest sporting events on Earth. The NFL has had its share of controversies, but this one hits differently. It's not about violence, PEDs, or cheating, it's about players treating fans like customers in a resale shop. The message from the league is loud and clear: if you mess with the system, you lose the perks. With Super Bowl tickets being one of the most valuable perks in the league, the fact that over 100 people risked it? Wild. What started as a low-key ticket flip has turned into one of the offseason's most unexpected scandals. The NFL isn't just fining players, they're sending a message to the entire league. And if the memes are any sign, "Ticketgate" might go down in NFL history as the most bizarre flex-gone-wrong ever. FAQs: Q: Why are NFL players being fined? A: They violated league policy by reselling Super Bowl 59 tickets above face value. Q: How much are the fines? A: Players pay 1.5x the face value; employees pay 2x. Q: Are they banned from Super Bowl events? A: Yes, offenders can't access Super Bowl tickets for the next two years unless they're in the game. Q: How did the NFL find out? A: Through internal investigations that traced ticket bundles and unauthorized resales. Q: Is the case still developing? A: Yes, more fines or bans could be coming as the investigation continues.
