Six Innovative Founders Recognised in Business Wales Start-Up Accelerator Awards
Delivered through the Business Wales Accelerated Growth Programme (AGP), the Start-Up Accelerator equips early-stage founders with the essential tools, expert support and valuable networks needed to grow and scale their businesses. To date, AGP has played a key role in driving entrepreneurial success in Wales, supporting an increase of £486 million in investment, £550 million in export sales and the creation of 13,440 jobs.
This latest cohort brought together 20 founders for a 10-week programme focused on refining business models, generating sales, and preparing for investment. The programme culminated with a showcase event, where six standout participants were presented with awards to recognise their exceptional commitment and progress.
This cohort's award winners are:
Proposition Flex Award: Natasha Page, founder of VitalAir
VitalAir develops fast, child-friendly allergy tests to address the frustration parents face when their child's mouth breathing goes unexplained or dismissed.
Sales Accelerator Award: Michele Sims, founder of Clearlypods
Clearlypods provides modular off-grid-capable wellness pods to boutique hotels and luxury venues, helping them expand their offerings quickly with high-spec, self-contained units.
Accelerator Award Winner: Sarah Alex Carter, founder of Yuple
Yuple develops intuitive speech-to-text and playback tools to address the isolation and communication barriers faced by adults with acquired hearing loss.
Fastest Sales Award: Vlad Tanasescu, founder of safeIncent
safeIncent provides a self-funded habit change app to individuals seeking personal growth, helping them stay accountable by putting their own money on the line.
Accelerator Champion Award: Pam Jones, founder of Easy Care Products Ltd
Easy Care offers a portable comfort-enhancement system designed for wheelchair users, enabling them to make small, independent adjustments to relieve pressure and enhance long-term comfort.
Most Collaborative Participant Award: Tessa Polniaszek, founder of Thinking Diversity
Tessa offers personality-informed training programs, tools and services, helping service providers understand how neurodivergence shapes communication, leadership, service design and practice.

Applications are now open for the next Start-Up Accelerator, which will run from 30th September 2025 to 12th December 2025. The programme is open to early-stage founders in Wales that are ready to take their business idea to market and scale at pace. The deadline for applications is 25th August 2025.

Australia could import LNG from 2027 with four projects underway along east coast
SINGAPORE, June 12 (Reuters) - Australia could start imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from 2027, based on developments at import terminal projects along its east coast, to address potential supply shortages. The country's competition regulator has said that the east coast may face a longer-term shortfall amid higher demand and structural decline. Below is a list of four proposed projects being advanced on the east coast, consisting of floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), which will send gas via pipelines back to the mainland for consumption. OPERATOR: Squadron Energy LOCATION: New South Wales LNG IMPORT CAPACITY: 2 million tons a year OPERATIONAL DATE: 2027 The Port Kembla Energy Terminal is already commissioned and plans to import around 2 million metric tons of LNG yearly. The project's commercial operations date has been delayed to 2027 from 2026 after operator Squadron Energy extended the sub-charter of the FSRU, Hoegh Galleon, to Egypt's EGAS until end-2026, according to a company spokesperson. The terminal is already connected to gas and electricity distributor Jemena's Eastern Gas Pipeline, according to the Australian Energy Market Operator. OPERATOR: Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific (AG&P) LNG LOCATION: Port Adelaide LNG IMPORT CAPACITY: 2 million tons a year OPERATIONAL DATE: 2027 Singapore-based Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific (AG&P) LNG has agreed to acquire Australian energy infrastructure developer Venice Energy and will develop its Outer Harbor import terminal in South Australia. The proposed terminal, pending a final investment decision, will be built by converting a 145,000 cubic metre LNG carrier to an FSRU. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with the first gas to flow into the system by mid-2027, Venice Energy said on its website. OPERATOR: Viva Energy Group ( opens new tab LOCATION: Geelong, Victoria LNG IMPORT CAPACITY: 2 million tons a year OPERATIONAL DATE: 2028 The Australian government has cleared the construction of Viva Energy Group's ( opens new tab LNG terminal in Geelong, the company said on May 30. The terminal will use an FSRU with a 7 kilometre (4.35 miles) pipeline connecting it to Victoria, with a capacity of 160 petajoules or about 2.9 million tonnes per year. First gas deliveries are expected in 2028. OPERATOR: Vopak ( opens new tab LOCATION: Port Phillip Bay, Victoria LNG IMPORT CAPACITY: Up to 50 cargoes* a year OPERATIONAL DATE: 2029 Vopak has started talks with gas suppliers and offtakers for its LNG import terminal project in Victoria and expects to make a final investment decision in 2026-2027. It aims to start terminal operations in 2029. Vopak is seeking an FSRU with a capacity of 170,000 cubic metres to regasify LNG, and gas would be transported to Victoria through a 19 km underwater pipeline. *One LNG cargo is roughly 70,000 metric tons

Mallows Bottling Diversifies with New Squash Line
South Wales-based Mallows Bottling has diversified into new territory with the launch of a five-litre squash product line – a move already delivering an estimated £700,000 in incremental annual revenue. The Llantrisant business, co-founded by father-and-son team Andy and Rhys Mallows and supported by the Business Wales Accelerated Growth Programme (AGP), has secured significant new contracts for the line, which includes a range of single and double-strength squash flavours. The expansion has created three new jobs, added new capacity, and strengthened the business' resilience in a competitive and rapidly changing drinks market. The squash line reflects Mallows' commitment to practical innovation and resource efficiency for the hospitality trade. The five-litre format reduces packaging waste by enabling customers to purchase in larger volumes, supporting efforts to cut single-use plastics and reduce environmental impact. The larger format also offers a cost-effective solution when margins are under pressure. New supply contracts have been secured with major buying group Caterforce, which has 11 members, including Castell Howell and Forest Fresh Foods. Mallows is also working with Food and Drink Wales to expand into cash & carry and the food service sector, with growing demand from hospitality buyers seeking value-for-money options as they respond to financial pressures. The squash range includes Orange, Blackcurrant, Apple & Blackcurrant, Lime, Lemon, Apple, and Summer Fruits. Interest is growing across retail and hospitality, including in the 'shooters' category—referring to small, concentrated drinks typically served in bars, where value and margin are especially important. The diversification has been supported by AGP, which has worked with Mallows Bottling to build strategic capability and expand operations sustainably. Rhys Mallows, Managing Director of Mallows Bottling, said: 'We saw a clear opportunity to offer a cost-effective, large-format squash range that meets customer needs and supports the hospitality sector during a tough trading period. 'The response has been very positive, already generating significant value for the business. It's also helped us expand the team and open up fresh routes to market.' The move follows a period of sustained growth for Mallows Bottling, which recently celebrated a £1 million sales week and has invested significantly in sustainability and new technology, backed by a seven-figure investment from the Development Bank of Wales. The company, already the largest contract bottler for spirits in Wales, offers more than 200 products across both alcoholic and non-alcoholic ranges. It employs 35 people at its 30,000-square-foot purpose-built bottling facility in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
