Opposition should acknowledge government's strength and efforts
He dismissed claims that the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, merely looks strong because the opposition is weak.
On the contrary, he said the strength of the MADANI Government stems from the hard work of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, as well as the unique multi-ethnic composition of its component parties, all working towards a better future for the country.
'The government has planned various initiatives and strategies, including programmes aimed at laying a strong foundation to revitalise the nation's economy and improve the people's well-being.
'We are not saying everything is perfect, but the government is making efforts to introduce clear policies to enhance public well-being in various areas such as the quality of education, healthcare and equitable direct assistance to the people,' he said.
He said this when met by Bernama at the Korban Perdana MADANI Programme and Kenduri Rakyat for the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency at the Dewan Terbuka Masjid Al-Taufiqiyah Chuar Kati here today.
Muhammad Kamil said Anwar and the Cabinet are fully committed to improving the country's economic performance while maintaining political stability.
'We can see the indicators today — such as economic growth, unemployment rate, poverty level, inflation, trade and investment, as well as the country's fiscal position.
'The unemployment rate is stable, and poverty and inflation rates have declined. The Gross Domestic Product and total trade are both expanding, showing that our country is now on the right track,' he said.
He added that these achievements prove the effectiveness of the MADANI Government's economic policies and governance in ensuring inclusive and resilient development.

Kelantan Cultivating Onions To Reduce Reliance On Imports By 2030
GENERAL KOTA BHARU, July 15 (Bernama) -- A large-scale onion cultivation project spanning 30.85 hectares across seven districts in Kelantan is expected to reduce Malaysia's reliance on imported onions by 2030. Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said Malaysia currently imports all of its onion supply from countries such as India and China. 'For example, in 2022, we imported 685,400 metric tonnes of big and small red onions worth RM1.58 billion. This clearly reflects our heavy dependence on foreign sources,' he said in a statement via a video posted on his Facebook page today. He said the state government, through the Agriculture, Agri-Food Industry and Commodities Committee, is taking steps to strengthen the agriculture sector. This includes onion farming, with several projects approved, ongoing, or in the pipeline in Bachok, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, Jeli, Kuala Krai, Machang and Tanah Merah. In addition, the Kelantan Department of Agriculture has allocated RM100,000 to the Kelantan State Agriculture Development Corporation for onion cultivation at Agro Valley Rong Chenok in Pasir Mas. Mohd Nassuruddin added that a one-hectare pilot onion farming project was launched in Kuala Krai last year, in collaboration with local entrepreneurs and the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar). The project is expected to generate RM1.4 million in returns by 2025. Based on this progress, he said the aim is to gradually cut down on onion imports, and by 2030, produce up to 30 percent of the country's supply locally.

Anwar says judiciary appointments to be announced by Conference of Rulers tomorrow, urges end to ‘negative perception'
PUTRAJAYA, July 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said that Malaysians can expect an announcement on the appointment of top judiciary leaders by the Conference of Rulers tomorrow. He said the announcement can hopefully dispel the 'negative perception' from Malaysians surrounding the issue. 'There are of course concerns expressed, and I must take note of that. First is the delay of appointment and secondly is the perception that some appointments to the key positions in the judiciary may be somewhat compromised,' he said in his speech at the International Conference On Governance And Integrity 2025 here. 'I can assure you that is not the case. I'm sure my legal friends can respect the fact that we must work based on the law and facts. Not perception. Leave the perception issue to the politicians, then only we can continue governing.' Anwar reiterated that he had a lengthy discussion with the Conference of Rulers on the matter this morning. Maori tourism model seen as boost for Orang Asli growth
ROTORUA: The Maori community's success in transforming their village into a global tourism hotspot could serve as a blueprint for Malaysia's Orang Asli settlements, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. During his visit to Rotorua, he highlighted the potential of adopting similar strategies to elevate Orang Asli tourism and socio-economic development. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, revealed plans to designate an area in Melaka as an international-class tourism centre for the Orang Asli community. 'Insya-Allah, there will be an area in Melaka designated as an international-class tourism centre for the Orang Asli community,' he said after a roundtable discussion with Maori business leaders. The deputy prime minister emphasised the government's inclusive approach, ensuring no minority group is left behind in national development. He noted that New Zealand prioritises indigenous welfare despite Maori heritage now being present in 70 per cent of the population through intermarriage and cultural integration. Ahmad Zahid, appointed as the coordinator for minority communities, pledged structured and sustainable support for the Orang Asli. 'I will ensure that this community is not left behind,' he said.
