Friends star's cult comedy gets surprise revival 20 years after debut
A cherished cult comedy classic has been given a surprise renewal for a third season - a whole two decades after it originally aired Friends star Lisa Kudrow will return to one of her most beloved roles - but it's not Phoebe Buffay. Best known for her 10-year stint on the beloved NBC sitcom as well as recent roles in Time Bandits and Netflix 's No Good Deed, Kudrow is reprising one of her first projects after Friends' conclusion in 2004. HBO has officially confirmed their hit comedy series The Comeback will return for a third and final season. In this sharp satirical look at the glitzy world of showbiz, Kudrow portrays Valerie Cherish, a B-list television actress who briefly found fame with her sitcom I'm It! in the late 80s and early 90s. The Comeback originally aired in 2005 with its first season following Valerie after she's cast in a new network sitcom called Room and Bored and agrees to record her return to acting in a companion documentary series. Almost 10 years later, a second season aired in 2014 and featured Valerie's career taking a darker turn. This time, she's cast as a fictionalised version of herself in Seeing Red, an HBO drama about the abuse she suffered from Room and Bored's producer Paulie G (Lance Barber). Seth Rogen portrays himself in the series as he's cast as Mitch in Seeing Red, the character based on Paulie, and often comes to Valerie's aid when the real Paulie shows his true colours. A teaser trailer was released by HBO featuring Kudrow in character as Valerie confirming she's returning for a new show, but maintains this will be 'the last time'. Created by Michael Patrick King, writer of Sex and the City and the creator of its sequel series And Just Like That…, The Comeback's final season will head into production this summer for a 2026 release date on HBO and HBO Max. Executive Vice President of HBO & Max Comedy Programming, Amy Gravitt said in a statement: 'No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor. 'On the 20th Anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO and we can't wait to see that.' And Kudrow and King added: 'Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape. Neither of us are surprised she did.' The Comeback season 3 will premiere in 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.

Another A-list star snubs SATC reprisal on And Just Like That amid Kim Cattrall's feud with Sarah Jessica Parker
Kyle MacLachlan said creative differences have kept him from appearing on the Sex and the City spinoff And Just Like That. The Emmy-nominated actor, 66, explained on Wednesday to Us Weekly his rationale in not yet reprising the role of Trey MacDougal, the ex-husband of Kristin Davis ' character Charlotte York, on the HBO series. 'Listen, I would love to come back and have fun,' said the actor, also known for his work as FBI special agent Dale Cooper on the iconic 90s mystery Twin Peaks. The veteran actor, appearing at a God's Love We Deliver's event in New York City on the late June evening, delved into detail about the creative differences he had with producers regarding a comeback to the franchise amid tension between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall. 'What they suggested to me, I said, "I think there should be more." So I just said, "I wonder, if the relationship that Charlotte and Trey had demands a little more than their first idea."' MacLachlan told the magazine about what he thought would be a good destination for the Trey MacDougal character. 'I had suggested that Trey has maybe moved to Napa and has a very successful winery and label there - you can see where I'm going with this. He said, 'But no, I actually haven't said anything yet ... it'd be very interesting.' MacLachlan said that 'regardless' of if he returns or not, he think's the show is 'doing great.' The actor, who has been seen in films such as Echo Valley, Showgirls and Blue Velvet, had kind words for the principle cast of the HBO series. And Just Like That has seen Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Davis reprise their respective roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and York. Said MacLachlan: 'They're all lovely. And I adore them.' Cattrall has not appeared on the rebooted show regularly amid years of tension with Parker. The star did make a shock comeback to the franchise for the reboot two years ago. She reprised the iconic role of Samantha Jones in the 11th episode of the second season, titled The Last Supper Part Two: Entree. The episode featuring Cattrall - who reportedly made $1 million for one day of work on the reboot - was first broadcast August 24, 2023. Sex and the City initially aired June 6, 1998, focusing on 'four female New Yorkers [who] gossip about their sex lives (or lack thereof) and find new ways to deal with a woman in the late 1990s,' a logline for the series read. It turned out to be a huge smash hit for HBO, and ran for 94 episodes over six seasons, racking up a total of seven Primetime Emmys.

Star Wars health and safety boss with MBE for ‘cultural awareness' sues after sacking for calling colleague ‘white man'
A STAR Wars health and safety boss with an MBE for cultural awareness is suing after being sacked for calling a colleague "white man". Sadi Khan, who worked on The Acolyte, was the first woman of colour employed as a head of health and safety on a Walt Disney series. 2 2 The single mum from Nottingham is suing the production company for unfair dismissal after being sacked for referring to a colleague as a 'white man'. She worked for Blue Stockings, which is owned by the Disney subsidiary Lucasfilm. She is suing Blue Stockings for unfair dismissal, sex and race discrimination, harassment and victimisation after she was dismissed for gross misconduct in November 2022. Ms Khan also worked as the health and safety co-ordinator on Disney's controversial remake of Snow White. The mum, who is of Pakistani heritage, claims she was sacked after blowing the whistle on unsafe working conditions. She was awarded an MBE in 2018 for cultural and religious awareness and training and services to the vulnerable. Ms Khan told an employment tribunal in Reading: 'If it was Tom Cruise saying they have to take health and safety seriously, they'd have listened to him, but they took no notice of me," The Times reported. She claimed there was a 'campaign' against her. The tribunal heard Ms Khan was sacked for referring to a bloke who was hired in a more senior role as a 'white man' and for 'making inappropriate comments' to her colleagues. But she insisted she said it in a "factual" way, and didn't mean for it to be derogatory. Blue Stockings denies the allegations, and the case continues.
