College coach escorted off range for wearing shorts at Augusta National: 'Pants tomorrow'
Thurmond hadn't planned on going to the Tournament Practice Area, but when he saw former ASU player Kevin Yu on the range, he wanted to say hello.

"I went out on the range without thinking, gave him a hug," said Thurmond. "After about one shot and one quick hello, they came out and said 'I'm sorry, sir, you can't be on the range with your shorts.' "
When Thurmond reunited with his phone, which was in the pocket of his pants in the car, he had texts about the incident. Word had gotten around. He eventually sent out a tweet about it.
"My bad, it was a mistake I made," Thurmond said while out watching Ballester play a practice round. "I want to follow the rules here when I'm at Augusta and do everything right. Lucky to be here and appreciate everything here. I just made a mistake."

Patrons can wear shorts, of course, outside the ropes. But there's a no-shorts policy for players and coaches on the course and practice areas at Augusta National.
Three years ago, Masters participant Talor Gooch, then a rookie, wore shorts while working on his putting and was approached by one of the club's pros in short order. It wasn't long before a pair of rain pants arrived.

Lottie Woad wins Scottish Open, her first LPGA event as a member
It's officially Lottie Woad Summer on the LPGA. The 21-year-old Englishwoman won the Scottish Open on Sunday, becoming the first person to win her initial LPGA event as a member since 2018. She shot 67-65-67-68 over four days, playing almost flawless golf. She had at least five birdies in each of her rounds, and had three total bogeys (and no doubles) during the week. She's from Farnham in Surrey, and enrolled at Florida State in 2022. Her breakout came two years later, with the ANWA win, NCAA runner-up finish and a top-10/low amateur finish at the Women's Open. Jin Young Ko was the last LPGA pro to earn a win in her first start as a member. Rose Zhang won the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open in her first event after turning professional, but she did not yet have her tour card. The Scottish Open was originally scheduled to be streaming only in the United States on NBC Sports, but the LPGA worked with NBC to get two hours of the final round broadcast on CNBC.

Popular analytics model projects Colorado football win total for 2025 season
In just a few days, we will be into August, which means the 2025 season is right around the corner. As we prepare for the 2025 season, power ratings and projection models take center stage. We have gone in-depth with ESPN's SP+ and FPI, but there are also other projection models worth mentioning. One of those is analytics guru Parker Fleming (@statsowar on X), who recently released his model's projected win totals for every Football Bowl Subdivision team. Colorado's projected win total, according to the model, is 6.1, which aligns with most predictions, as well as our own. The Buffaloes' win mark sits at No. 11 in the Big 12 behind Arizona State (8.5), Kansas State (8.3), Utah (7.7), Baylor (7.5), Iowa State (7.4), Kansas (6.9), BYU (6.9), Cincinnati (6.6), Houston (6.6) and TCU (6.3). Colorado faces seven of those teams listed above, showing the difficulty of their 2025 schedule. ESPN's FPI projected the Buffs to win 6.5, aligning closely with Fleming's model. Our Buffaloes Wire record prediction had Colorado going 6-6, with wins over Georgia Tech, Delaware, Houston, Wyoming, Iowa State and Arizona, and losses to BYU, TCU, Utah, West Virginia, Arizona State, and Kansas State. Colorado appears to have six solid win opportunities on their schedule, making bowl eligibility seem like the floor for 2025.
