JOHOR BAHRU, April 21 (Bernama) -- The mother of two siblings who died in an accident at the Simpang Empat Felda Ulu Tebrau traffic lights in Ulu Tiram, here last night while returning after a hari raya celebration, accepts the fate that has befallen her loved ones.
Asilah Minhat, 38, who has separated from her husband, said Nuraisyah Amalin Zaibur, 20, and Ammar Saifullah, 15, were returning home after celebrating at their father Zaibur Burhan, 47, and aunt's house in Bukit Tiram, near here.
She said the fatal incident involving her eldest daughter and second son was only known after being contacted by a friend of her son.
"Before the incident, there was no change in the behaviour or attitude of my two children...they were just normal. It was fated and I have to accept it. I cried a lot but my tears would not be able to change what has already happened. I have to accept their loss," said the single mother when met at the Forensic Medicine Department of Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), here today.
According to her, Nuraisyah Amalin had just finished sitting for the STPM examination, while Ammar Saifullah is a form three student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Felda Ulu Tebrau.
According to her, both were buried today at the Felda Ulu Tebrau Muslim Cemetery Waqf Land after Zohor prayers.
The two siblings who were riding on a Honda motorcycle died in an accident with a Toyota Estima multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at around 9.50pm.
Seri Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak was quoted as saying that during the accident, Ammar was riding the motorcycle with his sister seated behind and coming from the direction of Jalan Ledang towards Felda Ulu Tebrau.
'Upon reaching the scene, the motorcycle rider is believed to have made a right turn, ignoring the red traffic light and at the same time, a Toyota Estima driven by a 40-year-old local man, who was proceeding straight on a green light, was unable to avoid the collision and hit the motorcycle, resulting in both rider and pillion rider thrown into the opposite lane,' he said.

Data Centre Graft: MACC To Call Up 20 More Witnesses

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to record statements from 20 witnesses to assist in the investigation into the corruption case involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender in Johor worth approximately RM180 million. MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus said that, so far, they have recorded statements from 12 individuals in connection with the investigation. He said that the three suspects - the project manager of a construction company and two company directors - arrested by MACC are still under remand, while a woman suspect was released on Sunday (July 20) after her remand order ended. "So far, there have been no new arrests in this case,' he replied briefly when contacted today. The media previously reported that a project manager of a prominent construction company who was detained for investigation into a corruption case involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender was willing to burn almost RM1 million in cash to destroy evidence after being shocked by the MACC raid through Op Ways on Thursday (July 17). According to sources, during the raid conducted at his home in Petaling Jaya, a team of officers found RM100 banknotes totalling almost RM1 million in flames. As a result of a thorough inspection of the home, the MACC also found cash totalling approximately RM7.5 million stored in several pillow boxes, three Rolex, Omega and Cartier watches, as well as jewellery such as rings and gold coins. On Friday (July 18), the media reported that a contract manager, his wife and two men in their 40s to 60s were arrested by the MACC Investigation Division around the Klang Valley, believed to be involved in corruption involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender in Johor worth approximately RM180 million. -- BERNAMA
