Data Centre Graft: MACC To Call Up 20 More Witnesses
MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus said that, so far, they have recorded statements from 12 individuals in connection with the investigation.
He said that the three suspects - the project manager of a construction company and two company directors - arrested by MACC are still under remand, while a woman suspect was released on Sunday (July 20) after her remand order ended.
"So far, there have been no new arrests in this case,' he replied briefly when contacted today.
The media previously reported that a project manager of a prominent construction company who was detained for investigation into a corruption case involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender was willing to burn almost RM1 million in cash to destroy evidence after being shocked by the MACC raid through Op Ways on Thursday (July 17).
According to sources, during the raid conducted at his home in Petaling Jaya, a team of officers found RM100 banknotes totalling almost RM1 million in flames.
As a result of a thorough inspection of the home, the MACC also found cash totalling approximately RM7.5 million stored in several pillow boxes, three Rolex, Omega and Cartier watches, as well as jewellery such as rings and gold coins.
On Friday (July 18), the media reported that a contract manager, his wife and two men in their 40s to 60s were arrested by the MACC Investigation Division around the Klang Valley, believed to be involved in corruption involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender in Johor worth approximately RM180 million.

DOE intensifies patrols, drone surveillance to fight open burning and haze
KUALA LUMPUR: As a proactive measure, the Department of Environment (DOE) has intensified ground patrols and physical monitoring in fire-prone areas, particularly agricultural lands, peatlands, bush areas, abandoned plantations and landfills identified as high-risk. DOE director-general Datuk Wan Abdul Latiff Wan Jaffar said the department has been conducting patrols and enforcement operations to prevent open burning, which contributes to haze, especially during the current hot and dry spell. "Since July 8, 2025, the delegation of authority to various enforcement agencies has come into effect. This strategic initiative is aimed at strengthening enforcement actions on the ground, particularly in addressing the issue of open burning, which contributes to haze situations. "This delegation of authority allows swift, integrated and more comprehensive actions to be implemented quickly by the relevant agencies," he said in a statement yesterday. As of July 21, 2025, the DOE had conducted 4,121 ground patrols and 640 drone surveillance operations. Enforcement actions included 58 directives, 27 court proceedings and 59 compounds issued against parties found to have committed open burning offences this year. Wan Abdul Latiff said that for improved preparedness and coordination, the National Open Burning Action Plan and the National Haze Action Plan were activated on Feb 26 to streamline agency responses nationwide. "In addition, joint patrols and monitoring efforts are also being conducted with strategic partner agencies such as the Civil Defence Force (CDF) and other enforcement agencies at the state and district levels," he said. He urged the public not to engage in any form of open burning, particularly for agricultural purposes such as land clearing, waste disposal or use of abandoned land. "Stern action will be taken against individuals or parties found to be in violation of Section 29A of the Environmental Quality Act 1974. Offenders convicted of open burning can be fined up to RM1 million or imprisoned for up to five years, or both. "In addition, a compound of up to 50 per cent of the maximum fine may be imposed for each offence," he said. "At the same time, all operators of industries such as quarries, palm oil mills, premix plants and other industrial sectors are required to ensure their air pollution control systems are functioning properly. Emissions from chimneys must be constantly monitored and controlled to prevent air pollution that could affect public health," he said. He added that the DOE remained committed to enhancing monitoring and enforcement efforts, while collaborating with stakeholders to maintain national air quality standards. Missing man found drowned in Sungai Long
KUALA LUMPUR: A young man reported missing since last Thursday (July 17) was found drowned in Tasik Bukit Enggang, Sungai Long in Kajang on Monday morning. Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said his team received a report at 7.30am from a local man fishing at the lake. He said a team of police and Fire and Rescue Department personnel went to the scene to help recover the victim's body, which was found floating in the middle of the lake about 10 feet (3.05 metres) from the banks. "Investigations found that the victim was a 25-year-old local man who was reported missing last Thursday in Puchong. A Honda RS150 motorcycle and a black helmet, believed to be the victim's, were also found on the side of the road near Monkey Canopy, Sungai Long," he said in a statement yesterday. Naazron said the body was sent to Kajang Hospital for a post-mortem, with drowning confirmed as the cause of death. A physical examination also found no signs of injury linked to criminal elements. "A sudden death investigation is underway.
