Fortnite Super Showdown Live Event Announced – When and How to Play

Fortnite's latest Live Event has been announced for this weekend as Chapter 6 Season 3 reaches its final week. Live Events are story events in Fortnite that run for a very limited time. During this time, you can log into Fortnite to play an exclusive event that expounds on the plot of the current season, which right now is all about Superheroes.
With Superman and Robin at the forefront alongside a host of original superhero characters, this Live Event will see them taking on a strange threat, likely unleashed by the villain of this season, Daigo – another original Fortnite character. As for what you'll get to do in the event remains to be seen, but these frequently have unique game mechanics to offer.

The event is set to start on August 2, 2025 at 2:30pm ET/11:30am PT/7:30pm BST. To join in with this event, all you need to do is log into Fortnite and join the game shortly before the start time. Entry for the event is set to start at 2pm ET/11am PT/7pm BST, so you'll have plenty of time to get a spot to experience the event first-hand.
These events normally make big changes to the Fortnite map, which is why it's interesting that this season still has one week left following the event, as the season is scheduled to end on August 7. Whether this turns out to just be part one of a two-part event or something special will occur remains to be seen, but if you want to find out, you'll have to be there.

I'd be surprised if WWE didn't at least try to match what they accomplished on Saturday night with Seth Rollins' cash-in. That said, keep an eye on the TLC Six-Pack Tag Team Match. The number of athletes combined with the stipulations has my expectations freakishly high for this one. I'm hoping Nathan Frazer, nor anyone he's in a spot with, gets injured. Frazer is a bullet when he's in the ring, and sometimes I worry he's moving a little too fast. It's happened before. Hopefully, he has it all under control and his brilliance will shine through. I'm also fired up for Naomi's title defense against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley. Naomi is on a run that is similar to what Liv Morgan experienced in 2024, when she was my Female WWE Superstar of the Year. If Naomi can keep the title through the next two PLEs and continues to do the character work that she's done recently, she'll have the spot on lock. Lastly, my eyes are wide open for the Steel Cage Match between Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa. The latter has found a way to re-invent himself with some humor, and he now has another faction. I could see either person going over, but it could be time to elevate Jacob into the premier title picture. Yadadamean? Be on the lookout for a post-PLE awards piece.

‘Superman' Is About To Break A 17-Year-Old DC Curse
Box office hounds are currently looking at the horse race between Superman and Fantastic Four, the former of which will apparently top the latter unless some dramatic shift takes place in the imminent future. It's not just a 'win' for DC and the new DCU, it's something that goes well beyond that. If this happens with Superman, and it's almost certain it's about to, this will be the first time a DC movie was the highest-grossing comic book movie of a given year since 2008. Can you guess what that was? Yep, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. Of course, 2008 was also when the MCU began with Iron Man. The DCEU did not kick off until 2013 with Man of Steel, but in that five year gap there was nothing that topped Marvel (even The Dark Knight Rises), and even the biggest DCEU movie, Aquaman, did not beat out Marvel's big entry that year, Avengers: Infinity War (of course it didn't). What's the full list? I think it's interesting to take a look at. I'm going to start at 2006 just to give a frame of reference (the previous two years were Marvel too, naturally): Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, this trend is unlikely to continue. If it hits its release date, the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day is likely to crush Supergirl at the box office. After that, there are two Avengers movies that could go up against The Batman Part II one of those years, but I don't think that would beat either. Still, this is a significant achievement for Superman and DC. One that may not happen all that often from here, but with Marvel's relative declines, who knows, it may start occurring more and more.
