Great news for Tyler fans! Tyler the Creator's new album has officially been announced. The album is titled Don't Tap the Glass and is set to drop on Monday, July 21. The announcement generated considerable buzz following a week of subliminal messages from the rapper. Source: Rodin Eckenroth / Getty
According to The Hollywood Reporter , the news broke in characteristic Tyler fashion: during a performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday night. The rapper directly announced the album title to the audience, creating immediate excitement. Further solidifying the announcement, an installation designed to recreate the album's cover, prominently featuring its title, was also displayed. The news was then officially confirmed by Tyler himself via an Instagram post on Saturday morning, which included the release date for Tyler the Creator's new album.
'Don't Tap the Glass' will be Tyler's ninth studio album. Its release comes less than a year after his previous project, Chromakopia , which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October 2024. Chromakopia had a number of high-profile features, including Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red, Daniel Caesar, Doechii, GloRilla, LaToiya Williams, Lola Young, Santigold, Schoolboy Q, and Teezo Touchdown. Notably, Chromakopia was also released on a Monday, going against the industry's standard midnight Friday drop. This means Don't Tap the Glass , released through Columbia Records, will be his second project to deviate from the traditional release rollout.
Tyler has a distinct philosophy behind his preference for early-week releases. In a 2023 interview with Nardwuar, he provided insight into his reasoning.
'I think we should put music out again on Tuesdays instead of Fridays, for some reasons,' he explained. 'My reasoning is, I know people think because of the weekend, they can listen to stuff, and the streams go up. And the streaming people are like, 'Oh, the streams go up on the weekend!' But I think it's a lot of passive listening, at parties or people get the time to go to the gym, so they're not really listening.'
'To work on an album for so long and put so much energy into it and for it to be released at midnight…just seems so disrespectful,' he added.
Elsewhere in the interview, the rapper also discusses his frustration with finding places to seriously discuss his work.
'We need to get back to talking about music,' Tyler said. 'We need to stop f***ing going sneaker shopping or f***ing deepthroating hot wings for an hour. Talk about your album, talk about music.'
Beyond his prolific and critically acclaimed music career, Tyler is also making significant strides in the film industry. Earlier this year, he completed filming on Josh Safdie's highly anticipated movie, 'Marty Supreme,' according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film features a star-studded cast, including Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow, and is scheduled for release by A24 on Christmas Day 2025. This project will mark Tyler's feature film acting debut, adding a new dimension to his already diverse portfolio as a Grammy-winning artist, producer, fashion designer, and creative director.

Popular rock frontman ‘doing great' amid battle with stage 4 cancer

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of 3 Doors Down, had a positive update for fans amid his ongoing battle with stage 4 cancer. 'A lot of folks asked how I was doing the other day. I'm doin' great fam! Almost every day, I feel a little better,' Arnold wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday, July 6. 'Things seem to be going great. Thank you for every prayer you all have prayed. With so much faith behind me and my own faith within me, I have no doubt of the outcome of this fight,' the singer wrote. 'God will continue to fight this [battle] for me……..and God doesn't fail. I love y'all!" Arnold's post was met with tons of supportive comments from fans and fellow musicians alike. 'Praying for you brother,' former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre wrote. Meanwhile musician Drew Jacobs commented, 'My heart is with you brother' and country artist Jason Micheal Carroll wrote, 'Still sending love and prayers, bro.' Arnold, 46, revealed his diagnosis with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common type of kidney cancer, on May 7. The cancer 'affects the tubules that filter waste from your blood' and 'involves surgery to remove the tumor or your entire kidney,' according to the Cleveland Clinic. The frontman said the stage 4 cancer had metastasized into his lung. Despite the grim diagnosis, the singer felt optimistic. 'I have no fear. I really sincerely am not scared it at all, but it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer and we're sorry for that,' Arnold said in an Instagram video. The singer also asked fans to pray for him whenever they can. 'Thank you guys so much,' he said. 'We love you. See ya.' Arnold, alongside Matt Roberts and Todd Harrell, formed 3 Doors Down in Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1996. The band is best known for its 2000 debut single 'Kryptonite,' which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was included on 3 Doors Down's multi-platinum debut album 'The Better Life.' The band continued its success with its sophomore album 'Away from the Sun' in 2002. The multi-platinum project debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the hit singles 'When I'm Gone' and 'Here Without You.' The band's third and fourth studio albums, 'Seventeen Days' and self-titled fourth album both debuted atop the Billboard 200 and were certified platinum certification by the RIAA. The band's fifth and sixth albums album, 'Time of My Life' and 'Us and the Night,' peaked at No. 3 and 14, respectively. LeBron James Makes Cameo in New Tyler, the Creator Music Video as Rapper's Album Drops Monday

If you blink, you might miss Lebron James' cameo in Tyler, the Creator's new music video. In the music video for the rapper's song "STOP PLAYING WITH ME" released on Monday, July 21, Tyler, 34, dances around a room surrounded by two giant speakers and crumpled newspaper blowing around. He also speaks directly to the camera, wearing a leathery sweatsuit with a furry collar and blue rubber gloves. A blue and red poster that reads "NO GLASS TAPPING" can be seen in the background, referring to his new album title, DON'T TAP THE GLASS, which dropped Monday. At a couple of points in the short but high-energy music video, the Los Angeles Lakers star and his business partner Maverick Carter could be seen nodding their heads along to the beat. "F40, this the brand-new coupe/Stuff it with bitches, it's what the f--- I do/Caught the plane with Mav, Bron there too," Tyler raps in the second verse of the song when the duo appear. James, 40, wore a pixelated patterned denim jacket and matching bucket hat covering his eyes — but the 6'9" NBA star is admittedly hard to miss. "STOP FKN PLAYING WITH ME!!!! 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤," James posted on X to celebrate Tyler's music video. Days before, he seemed to have teased a collaboration with the rapper. "👀 LFG!!!!! 😤😤😤😤," he wrote, quoting Tyler's X post about July 21. Pusha T and Malice of the rap duo Clipse also have cameos in the video. Tyler posted about DON'T TAP THE GLASS on Instagram on July 21, reflecting on how the album should encourage movement, like it did during his listening party. "I asked some friends why they don't dance in public and some said because of the fear of being filmed," he began. "I thought, damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost. It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme all for having a good time." The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! "I just got back from a 'listening party' for this album and man it was one of the greatest nites of my life. 300 people, no phones allowed, no cameras, just speakers and a sweatbox. Everyone was dancing. Moving. Expressing. Sweating. It was truly beautiful," Tyler continued. The musician, whose real name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, said that he played the album front to back twice, and noticed how pent-up energy "finally got released," and we "carved the idea of letting more of it out." "There was a freedom that filled the room. A ball of energy that might not translate to every speaker that plays this album, but man, did that room nail it." He wrote that the album "was not made for standing still." "Any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it. Only at full volume." The two-time Grammy winner is wrapping up his Chromakopia Tour which kicked off in February, making stops throughout North America. Up next for him are the final stops in Montreal, Toronto and Newark. DON'T TAP THE GLASS is available to stream. Read the original article on People
