North Carolina Reacts to Bill Belichick Announcement
There's a lot of excitement surrounding the North Carolina Tar Heels, as head coach Bill Belichick is looking to come in and improve the program after it went 6-7 last year. He has not won a bowl game since 2019.

The expectations are high considering that during his time in the NFL, Belichick established himself as one of the greatest coaches in league history. Further, on Wednesday, he was named to ESPN's "NFL All Quarter Century team."
It's certainly an impressive honor as the list comprises a total of 53 players and four coaches, all selected based on their production since 2000.
It even drew a reaction from North Carolina, which commemorated the achievement with its own X post, captioned, "Congratulations to @Belichick_B on being selected as Head Coach of the @espn NFL All Quarter Century Team!"
It's unsurprising to see Belichick chosen to represent the head coach spot, as he dominated in his 24 years with the New England Patriots (2000-2023), winning AP Coach of the Year three times.

During that time, he accumulated a 266-121 regular season record, went 30-12 in playoff matchups and helped guide the Patriots to nine Super Bowl appearances, winning six of them, which is the most for a head coach in NFL history.
It also won't be the last time Belichick is recognized for his impact in the NFL, as he's eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2026, where he is likely to be a first-ballot selection.

Now, it will remain to be seen if he can come in and make an immediate impact for North Carolina, as he and the Tar Heels are tied for the seventh-best odds (+3000) to win the ACC in 2025.

Brian Burns: Giants' defense looks great on paper, but we haven't done it yet

Ex-star WR compares Pat Surtain to Darrelle Revis: 'As consistent as it gets'
When Darrelle Revis was in his heyday from the late 2000s until the early 2010s, he struck fear into quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive coordinators alike. He was so effective that he was revered as 'Revis Island,' where wide receivers matched up with him were in no man's land with his coverage. So when Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II was recently compared to him, it was a worthy recognition. Former Atlanta Falcon star wide receiver and All-Pro WR Roddy White made the comparison in an interview with Dylan Wilkerson of Vegas Insider, noting that Surtain plays similarly to the former Jets star. "Patrick Surtain II from the Denver Broncos," White said when asked what modern-day corner he'd like to face one-on-one. "He's the guy. I've watched him a lot. He does everything well, and he travels with the other team's best guy. He reminds me of Darrelle Revis, but just a little taller. "He competes. He likes the challenge of going against the best receivers in the league and he'd be the guy I'd look forward to facing if I was still in the league. In a position where it's so hard to be consistent, he is as consistent as it gets.' While the comparison is suitable, Surtain does have one edge over Revis: Defensive Player of the Year. Although he was a seven-time Pro Bowler, four-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl champion, Revis never won DPOY as PS2 did in 2024. Jets tease potential reunion with K Nick Folk
The New York Jets entered training camp with an inexperience problem at kicker. As things currently stand, they're hosting a position battle between rookie undrafted free agent Caden Davis, and sophomore Harrison Mevis. Neither placekicker has kicked in an NFL regular season game. After a few uneven performances at training camp, Jets general manager Darren Mougey is now considering going in a different direction. The Jets hosted free-agent kicker Nick Folk on a visit, according to a report by The NY Post's Brian Costello. It would mark a reunion. Folk kicked for the Jets from 2010-16. The 40-year-old Folk most recently kicked for two seasons for the Tennessee Titans. In both 2023 and 2024, Folk led the league in field goal percentage (96.7 and 95.5). He's remained incredibly accurate since leaving East Rutherford. The Titans hired a new special teams coordinator this offseason in John "Bones" Fassel. Coach Fassel preferred a kicker with more distance, so the Titans decided against re-signing the accurate Folk, opting for the riskier leg of Joey Slye instead. As accurate as Folk has been, distance isn't his game at this point. Folk would bring considerably more reliability to the Jets' kicking game. Together, Mougey and special teams coordinator Chris Banjo must decide if they want to gamble on Mevis or Davis being a long-term solution. Signing Folk would obviously be a short-term fix.
