Lincoln residents question open gates after fire forces evacuations on Fourth of July
Residents in a Lincoln neighborhood are praising the quick response of firefighters after a brush fire forced them to evacuate on the Fourth of July, but many are now questioning why gates leading into the development were left open during the holiday. The fire broke out Friday evening near Bickford Ranch Road and Sierra College Boulevard, burning on the edge of a Toll Brothers development and prompting evacuations on Poppy Hill and Lyles Lane. "There's gates, so you wonder why they're not closed, especially on the Fourth of July when there's people up here, empty streets, empty lots," said one resident who was evacuated overnight. Some neighbors believe closing the gates could have prevented the fire from spreading so close to homes. "If the gates were closed, I don't think any of this would've happened," another resident said. Others described the tense moments when they rushed home and saw the flames. "We live right down the hill, and you could see the flames and smoke," said one evacuee. "The fire engines actually responded super quick." Cal Fire Placer County Fire Battalion Chief Jeremy Rochholz said steep slopes, grass, oak woodland, and downed limbs created dangerous conditions and helped the fire hold heat. "With the slope and the fuels here, we have some grass oak wood area and we have some downed limbs that adds a little more and really holds the heat," Rochholz explained. Despite those challenges, no homes or major structures were damaged. "We got lucky this time," Rochholz said. "No structures or nothing of major property value was damaged, which was beneficial. As you know, with the winter we had, it really shows at any point we can have devastating wildfires." While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, residents are calling for changes. CBS13 reached out to Toll Brothers for comment about why the gates were left open but did not hear back. A worker at the site said the gates typically remain open during the day for construction crews and that the development does have private security. Neighbors said they hope the developer makes changes to prevent a similar scare in the future.

So when Wallen played his two-night stint at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, as part of his I'm The Problem Tour, ticket holders expected the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year to make a grand entrance with someone iconic in tow. Unfortunately for folks, that wasn't the case during night one of the two-show run as Wallen chose to walk out to the stage solo — a rare event. But, night two was a different story. On Sunday, June 29, the 'Love Somebody' hitmaker surprised fans when he invited NFL legend and former Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre to take part in his pre-show routine. The pair had fans screaming as they strolled out together, with attendees catching a clear view of the spectacle on the jumbotron. A fan video shared on TikTok shows the moment in action and features the words 'Just when we think Morgan Wallen is walking out alone, he makes Wisconsin go wild with Brett freaking Favre,' spread across the screen. The clip shows Wallen walking solo, wearing a ball cap, jeans, and a dress shirt. 'Broadway Girls' can be heard playing over the loudspeaker as he meets Favre halfway. The two can be seen shaking hands before sharing a hug and a smile. 'The legend himself,' one follower commented below the video, including two heart emojis in their message. 'The way I would have simply passed away,' another follower wrote, with a third person adding, 'The GOAT.' Wallen's back-to-back shows at Camp Randall Stadium were quite a treat for folks as no other artist has performed at the facility, which is home to the Wisconsin Badgers, since 1997. 'Superman' is ready to fly! Speaking to Access Hollywood, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, who star as Superman and Lois Lane in the upcoming DC Studios blockbuster, revealed why it's hard for them to recall their first impressions of one another. 'I don't think either of us remember our first impressions of each other because it was such a whirlwind. You were operating on very little sleep. This was at the screen test in L.A., and we had both spent the morning working with other great actors on the scene. And then we were kind of thrown together as an afterthought,' Corenswet began, adding, 'I describe it as we shook hands, said hello, sat down, bickered for ten pages. James [Gunn] said, 'All right, that's enough.' And, then we went our separate ways.' The costars also noted that they connected further over a breakfast after they were cast, with Brosnahan adding that their chemistry read was 'pretty magical.' Plus, the actor revealed that his wife, Julia, and their baby daughter came to visit the set a couple of times. 'I do have some lovely pictures of me holding my baby in her little Superman costume while I'm in my Superman costume, and Ira was in his superman costume – the dog. And Nick has a wonderful video that he took of me pushing her in her stroller, where the backdrop of the set comes down to about waist height. And just below that you can see me in the boots and the cape flying behind me, pushing the stroller back and forth.' The 31-year-old additionally shared that he's became a pro at changing diapers – even doing so with one hand! 'Superman' flies into theaters July 11.
