Analyst Offers Revealing Take on Browns' Second-Round Pick

Cleveland insider Terry Pluto believes it was the right move and that Schwesinger could make an immediate impact.
'He could be … special right away: That's what I heard about Carson Schwesinger, the team's second-round pick from UCLA," Pluto wrote. "The Browns believe he can start immediately at middle linebacker. He quickly picks up the defensive schemes. They love his speed. They believe he is as advanced at this early stage as Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah during his rookie season."
Schwesinger only had four missed tackles in all of 2024. Of all 47 FBS players who posted at least 100 tackles, his four missed were the fewest of all of them.

He could be an immediate help for a Browns defense that missed a ton of tackles last season, especially if JOK remains sidelined for an extended period.
The Browns are clearly focused on their quarterback issues this offseason, and rightfully so. But the special attention general manager Andrew Berry paid to the defense this offseason could pay dividends early in 2025.
Especially with the extension of star pass rusher Myles Garrett on the books.

Not only did they get Kyren Williams under contract for three more years with a $33 million extension, but they put together a solid practice against the Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard. Sean McVay said it himself after practice: "Today was a good day for the Rams." Based on reports from Oxnard, the Rams won this practice with their NFC foes. The defense shut down Dallas' ground game, while the passing attack seemed to excel against Dallas' secondary. Jimmy Garoppolo continues to have a great summer and Williams put all of his talents on display just hours after signing the biggest contract of his life. Here are six key takeaways from the Rams' practice with the Cowboys. Kyren Williams shows why the Rams extended him Earlier in the day, Williams and the Rams agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension. Hours later, Williams showed exactly why he was worth the money. He broke off a long touchdown run up the middle, displaying good speed through the hole – something that was lacking at times last season. He also put linebacker Damone Clark on his back while blocking for Jimmy Garoppolo, putting in the effort as a blocker. Kinchens' highlight-reel play was a big hit on Jalen Tolbert after the receiver caught a bubble screen, laying out the Cowboys wideout in the flat. Lake's play might've been even better.
