Browns LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah mentioned among the best NFL off-ball linebackers
As the 2025 NFL training camps approach, the true voices of the NFL conducted a survey to rank the top 10 players at various positions. The latest results have come in from their rankings of the top 10 best off-ball linebackers at the professional level. The survey audience consisted of NFL executives, coaches, and scouts, according to senior writer Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. If the Browns defender were healthy and eligible for a spot on the top-10 list, he would've earned enough votes to be ranked as the 6th-best off-ball linebacker. Due to his injury and inability to play for the entire 2025 season, he was given an honorable mention instead. Despite his long-standing injury, Browns star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah still earned an honorable mention from his peers. He last played against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8 of the 2024 regular season. In his last full season, he recorded 101 combined tackles and 3.5 sacks with an 84.2 pass-rush PFF grade. He was named as the first honorable mention to not make the top-10 list. The Cleveland Browns—and now clearly most of the NFL—believe Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is still one of the most talented linebackers in football. The neck injury that ended his 2024 and recently announced 2025 seasons has left reasonable doubt about his future on the field. Despite his absence, many around the NFL still think very highly of the Browns defender. Analyst Offers Revealing Take on Browns' Second-Round Pick
Analyst Offers Revealing Take on Browns' Second-Round Pick originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns selected UCLA linebacker Carson Schwesinger with the No. 33 overall pick after also going defense with their first pick, regardless of the team's pressing need for offensive playmakers. Advertisement However, with the uncertain future of starting linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, it was a pick necessitated by immediate need. Cleveland insider Terry Pluto believes it was the right move and that Schwesinger could make an immediate impact. 'He could be … special right away: That's what I heard about Carson Schwesinger, the team's second-round pick from UCLA," Pluto wrote. "The Browns believe he can start immediately at middle linebacker. He quickly picks up the defensive schemes. They love his speed. They believe he is as advanced at this early stage as Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah during his rookie season." Schwesinger only had four missed tackles in all of 2024. Of all 47 FBS players who posted at least 100 tackles, his four missed were the fewest of all of them. Advertisement He could be an immediate help for a Browns defense that missed a ton of tackles last season, especially if JOK remains sidelined for an extended period. The Browns are clearly focused on their quarterback issues this offseason, and rightfully so. But the special attention general manager Andrew Berry paid to the defense this offseason could pay dividends early in 2025. Especially with the extension of star pass rusher Myles Garrett on the books. Browns Fans Dealt Bad News in Latest Record Predictions
Browns Fans Dealt Bad News in Latest Record Predictions originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns finished dead last in the AFC North this past season with a very disappointing 3-14 record. So for the most part, there is nowhere to go but up this season. Advertisement In a recent article by NFL Spin Zone's Sayre Bedinger, he predicts the record of every AFC North when the end of the 2025 season rolls around. And for the Browns, he predicts them to finish with the same record they did last season. "Let me be clear about something here: I think the Browns will be lucky to win three games," Bedinger wrote. "I will happily eat crow later this season if the Browns end up outkicking their coverage here. The reality facing this team in 2025 is that they have a bad offensive line, a bad quarterback situation, a lot of young players getting broken in, and they are missing one of their best defensive players already. This is not making fun of the Browns for the sake of doing so. They are just in a rough situation." Star edge rusher Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will not be able to play in 2025 due to a neck injury that he sustained this past season, so the team will be without one of their better players on defense. As for the offense, the Browns have five quarterbacks on their roster, and it is not abundantly clear which one should be the starter. With veterans like Joe Flacco, and then somewhat promising rookies like Shedeur Sanders, it is really a toss up in Cleveland's QB room. Advertisement The team has nothing to lose, so they will be looking to prove the doubters wrong and surprise some people in 2025. Browns LB Jordan Hicks dubbed Cleveland's most underappreciated player
The Cleveland Browns are going to need veteran linebacker Jordan Hicks to step up big this season as the team deals with the year-long absence of Pro Bowler Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. However, one analyst believes Hicks may just be the Browns' most underappreciated player anyway. Highlighting one player from each team, Tom Blair identified their most underappreciated player. And for the Browns, it was none other than the 32-year-old starting middle linebacker. Advertisement Here is what Blair had to say on the eldest member of the Browns' linebacking corps: "Hicks joined up with his old Eagles boss, defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, when he signed in Cleveland last year, and aside from some time missed with injuries, he continued to do what he's done for most of his career: put up numbers. In 12 starts, he generated 78 tackles and two sacks, earning the sixth-best defensive grade on the team from Pro Football Focus. And while expectations around the Browns might be low, the veteran is in line to play an important role again in the absence of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah." Hicks joins a corps that now consists of 33rd overall pick Carson Schwesinger, former undrafted free agents Mohamoud Diabate (who found success in some starts a year ago) and Winston Reid, and veterans Devin Bush and Jerome Baker. With a history with defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, it will undoubtedly be Hicks' role to be the glue guy in the room. Can the veteran step up to the task this season? Browns Pro Bowler JOK Career In Jeopardy
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah's 2025 NFL season is over before it even started ... and the news may get worse from there. The Cleveland Browns placed the Pro Bowl linebacker on the Reserve/PUP list on Monday, meaning he will miss the entire 2025 season. Advertisement this all stems from a 2024 neck injury that ended his campaign early, and there was some understanding that he might not make it back for this year. And indeed, now Owusu-Koramoah will turn his attention will turn to a lengthy rehab. 'Jeremiah's health is of the utmost importance to us and although he has made progress towards recovery, we've made the decision to place him on Reserve/PUP,' said Browns general manager Andrew Berry in a statement. 'Jeremiah has the full support of our team, and we expect him to continue to be a part of the organization even though he will not return to the field this year.'' And then, notably, the statement added, "We will not make any predictions on Jeremiah's football future at this time.' Advertisement That is an acknowledgement that JOK, at 25, might be at the end of his career. During his third season in the NFL, Owusu-Koramoah enjoyed a breakout campaign in as he posted 101 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two interceptions and made the Pro Bowler. Seen as a bookend to Myles Garrett, the Notre Dame product was signed to a deal paying him $12.5 million per year. JOK himself also issued a statement. 'I'm grateful to the Browns organization for their full support, and to the world-class doctors guiding me through recovery,' Owusu-Koramoah said. 'While I won't suit up this season, I'm focused on what I can control—my healing, my mindset, and my faith. The body may rest, but the calling never sleeps. I've given my heart to this game. I don't know what's next, but I'll continue trusting my medical team, serving the community, and backing my brothers on the field.' Related: Browns Draft Decision Pummeled By Analyst
