Kondapalli fort comes alive with yoga enthusiasts
Hundreds of people gathered at Kondapalli Fort on the outskirts of Vijayawada at the break of dawn on Saturday to take part in the Yogandhra programme organised by the NTR district administration.
District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that the administration has been organising programmes as part of the month-long Yogandhra campaign in every village, mandal, tourist and historic sites since May 21. The administration had also organised such programmes at the Gandhi Hill, Pavitra Sangam, and Haritha Berm Park in Vijayawada.
Mr. Lakshmisha encouraged people to practise yoga every day for 45 minutes for a healthy life. 'Yoga is panacea to all the lifestyle problems youngsters are falling prey to, such as BP, diabetes, hormonal imbalances and stress,' the Collector said while adding that the aim of organising such programmes is to increase awareness among the people about its benefits.
Later, A.P. Non-Gazetted Officers' Association State president A. Vidyasagar thanked the administration for organising such programmes and encouraged public to make yoga a part of their lives.
The fort came alive with cultural programmes, conducted by the Amaravati Yoga and Aerobics, as part of the programme. Students from the Sirisha Yoga Academy and Government Nursing College impressed the enthusiasts with their Operation Sindoor-themed performance.
District officials, public, students, members of the A.P. State NGO members took part.

These projects, pivotal to economic growth and public welfare, were reviewed with a focus on timelines, inter-agency coordination and issue resolution. He underscored that delays in project execution come at the dual cost of escalating financial outlays and denying citizens timely access to essential services and infrastructure and asked officials to adopt a results-driven approach to translate opportunity into improving lives. During a review of the Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), he called upon all states to accelerate the development of health infrastructure and said equitable access to quality healthcare must be ensured for poor, marginalised, and underserved populations. The Kalinga Kala Kendra Trust, in collaboration with the Odisha government, hosted a four-day Raja Mahotsav in Pune PUNE: The vibrant traditions of Odisha came alive in Pune as the Kalinga Kala Kendra Trust, in collaboration with the Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Government of Odisha, hosted the four-day Raja Mahotsav at Balgandharva Rangmandir. The event celebrated womanhood, menstrual health, and Mother Earth's fertility through cultural performances, traditional rituals, and community participation. In a statement issued by the organisers, the event was conceptualised by Dr Mamata Mishra, classical dancer and founder-president of the Trust, and aimed to highlight menstruation as a sacred and powerful process. Highlights included Odissi and folk performances, symbolic rituals, Raja-themed recitations, and a grand crowning ceremony of women and girls as 'Raja Queens.' Traditional Odia delicacies such as Poda Pitha and Chhena Poda were served, and swings were decorated with idols of Jagannath, Subhadra, Lakshmi, and Krishna. A second swing honoured the feminine spirit, marking its cyclical connection with nature. Mass yoga events mark International Yoga Day in Tenali and Vijayawada; officials highlight health benefits
GUNTUR: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nandendla Manohar took part in a large-scale Yoga event organised in Tenali on Saturday to mark International Yoga Day, under the State government's 'Yogandhra' initiative. The programme was organised by Tenali Municipality and witnessed enthusiastic participation from all sections of society. The Minister actively performed various Yoga asanas alongside trained instructors and participants, motivating citizens by joining them in their practice. Hundreds of residents, including government employees and youth, gathered at the venue from as early as 6:30 am to participate in the hour-long session. Addressing the gathering, Minister Manohar emphasised that Yoga offers a sustainable path to healthy living without reliance on medicines, noting that it forms an integral part of India's cultural heritage, contributing to both physical and mental well-being.
