Sergio Garcia breaks his driver on the second
The hot-headed Spaniard hooked a wayward drive into the rough at the par-5 second, and pounded the club into the grass in frustration.
The shaft buckled and then snapped, as Garcia let rip.
Somehow he still managed to make a par.
However he has to play the rest of his round without a driver.
The rules of golf mean he could have asked for a replacement to be brought out from the clubhouse if the damage had been accidental.
However because he deliberately broke the driver in a temper tantrum, former Ryder Cup star Garcia will have to play the rest of the final round with one fewer club in his bag.
Golf fans who saw the incident were outraged.
One X user wrote: "Should be kicked off the course. Damaged the tee as well.'
Another branded him a 'child', adding: 'For one bad shot it could now cost him another 14… Grow up man.'

Others were less kind. One disgruntled fan wrote: "Sergio Garcia really is a k***head."
Another blasted: "Sergio Garcia is a horrible little p****."
Former Masters champion Garcia, 45, has a history of blowing his lid on the course.

At The Open in 2017 he injured his shoulder after slamming his club into a bush.
And he was forced to use a three-iron for all his putts at the Dell Technologies Championship after breaking his putter in anger on a sprinkler head also in 2017.

Sergio Garcia: I would love to be Europe's Ryder Cup captain
Sergio García has confirmed his interest in becoming Europe's Ryder Cup captain after being backed by Jon Rahm to lead the side in Spain. Rahm named García on Wednesday as the ideal candidate to captain Europe when the contest against the United States returns to Spain in 2031 for the first time in 34 years. García, Europe's record Ryder Cup points scorer, wants the job at some point and the hosting of the event by the Camiral Resort in Girona appears to be the perfect fit. 'Yes, I would love to be a Ryder Cup captain. I don't know when because you never know what might happen,' García said. 'Obviously Spain is a possibility but I don't want to get ahead of myself or anything like that until the right time comes. It's still six years away and you never know where you're going to be at that time in your life or health-wise. But the Ryder Cup means so much to me and to be able to host another Ryder Cup in Spain is a tremendous honour. 'The Ryder Cup always has this special flavour, no matter where it is but obviously when it's in your home country, it's even sweeter. It's great news and I know that everyone is very, very excited.' The last time the event was staged in Spain — at Valderrama in 1997 — it was another Spanish legend in Seve Ballesteros who captained Europe to victory. Rahm believes the timing would be ideal for García, who will be 51 in 2031, to emulate his golfing hero. 'It's very hard to compare anybody to Seve, and I've only heard stories about what that Ryder Cup was like, but I think that it's a very obvious good choice to have Sergio be a part of this one,' Rahm said. 'There's something to say about having a local captain. I think it would do wonders for the crowd.' The complication is that García, who is preparing for Friday's LIV Golf event at the JCB Club in Staffordshire, remains part of the Saudi-backed circuit. When Henrik Stenson was appointed as Europe's captain for the last Ryder Cup in Rome he was subsequently stripped of the role over his LIV links. The DP World Tour, which makes the appointment, then ruled that players who had resigned their membership to switch to LIV had rendered themselves ineligible for future captaincy. However with a thawing of tensions — albeit no final peace accord between golf's rival factions — García is hopeful their stance will soften. 'The LIV guys were never against doing those roles. We just got put in a position where we couldn't,' he said. 'We weren't allowed and that was obviously very sad for Henrik and a few possible captains that are here. That's obviously much better now and I'm sure will keep getting better as time goes by.' The Bethpage Black course in New York will host this year's Ryder Cup in September, before Adare Manor in Co Limerick hosts the 2027 event.

Rory McIlroy's caddie outearns two Masters winners this year with hefty paycheck
Harry Diamond has been Rory McIlroy's caddie for the best part of a decade and was the first person to embrace the Northern Irishman after he won the Masters Rory McIlroy's childhood mate and long-standing caddie, Harry Diamond, has been by his side through thick and thin. The 41-year-old was the first to congratulate McIlroy after the world No. 2 clinched the Masters, completing the Grand Slam and ending an agonising 11-year wait for a major. The Holywood duo first crossed paths on the putting greens of their local golf club. Although Diamond isn't a professional golfer himself, he's raked in more cash than many top players in recent years. In 2025 alone, it's estimated that McIlroy's right-hand man has pocketed around £1.2million. This figure is based on McIlroy's winnings of roughly £12.2m, as it is standard practice for a caddie to receive about 10% of their player's prize money. Diamond's projected 2025 earnings exceed those of former Masters champions Zach Johnson and Danny Willett, who have bagged around £651,000 and £397,000 this year, respectively. However, it's also possible that Diamond receives a weekly wage topped up with a bonus of around 7-10 percent. Naturally, only Diamond and McIlroy can confirm or refute the specifics of their arrangement, but the above is generally accepted as the norm in the sport. One thing's for sure; McIlroy would find it very odd to compete in a major without his mate by his side. The five-time major champion didn't hold back on his appreciation for Diamond after clinching the Masters title. In a heartfelt interview at Augusta, McIlroy recalled a pivotal moment shared with his close confidant during the tense play-off hole against Justin Rose. McIlroy had just missed what could have been the winning putt on the 18th when he and Diamond prepared for the additional challenge. Recounting the experience, McIlroy said: "After scoring, Harry and I were walking to the golf cart to bring us back to the 18th tee. "He said to me, 'Well, pal, we would have taken this on Monday morning.' I'm like, 'Yeah, absolutely we would have.' That was an easy reset. He basically said to me, 'Look, you would have given your right arm to be in a playoff at the start of the week.' So that sort of reframed it a little bit for me." In the aftermath of his victory, McIlroy was quick to acknowledge Diamond's role in his success. He added: "I've known Harry since I was seven years old. "I met him on the putting green at Holywood Golf Club. We've had so many good times together. He's been like a big brother to me the whole way through my life. "To be able to share this with him after all the close calls that we've had, all the c**p that he's had to take from people that don't know anything about the game, yeah, this one is just as much his as it is mine. "He's a massive part of what I do, and I couldn't think of anyone better to share it with than him."

Mikel Arteta reveals where Max Dowman must improve to earn regular Arsenal minut
Mikel Arteta says Max Dowman must continue to raise his 'physical levels' in order to give himself the best possible chance of becoming a first-team regular at Arsenal. Though Dowman, 15, is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for Arsenal, the attacking midfielder is already being tipped for a bright future in the game by coaches and team-mates alike. The England Under-17 international has been training with Arteta's first-team with increasing regularity over the last 12 months and was taken to the Gunners' warm-weather camp back in February. This summer, Arteta included Dowman in Arsenal's squad for the club's pre-season tour of Asia – and the teenager came on as a second-half substitute in the side's 1-0 win over AC Milan this afternoon. After the victory, Arteta's men took part in a pre-arranged penalty shootout after the final whistle, which Milan won 6-5. While Arsenal failed with four of their spot-kicks, Dowman stepped up and cooly sent Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani the wrong way to further enhance his burgeoning reputation. The north London giants finished the contest with four academy graduates on the pitch – and six in total across the match – and Arteta was delighted with the contribution his young stars made in Singapore. 'It's very good. There is a lot of work in our academy with the coaches and the people involved,' the Arsenal head coach told reporters. 'It's a moment to give opportunities, to reward them, and they certainly took the chance today in difficult circumstances against a very big team. 'But it's incredible that, at 15 years old, they can perform at that level.' Asked whether he was especially pleased with Dowman's performance, Arteta added: 'I'm very happy with all the kids. 'I think they are able to play at that level, at 15 years old, in my opinion, because of the environment and the culture that is within the team. 'When somebody makes you feel so comfortable, so confident straight away, you can go and do it. 'At least it gives you the best chance, then you have the qualities that this kid has to actually deliver against an opposition like this.' Arteta has no doubts that Dowman has the talent to be able to force his way into the first-team at the Emirates down the line. But the Spaniard believes the teen will have to use the 'good platform' he has been given to continue to grow and meet the physical demands and challenges he will face in senior football. Asked whether Dowman could be set for more minutes in the first-team next season, Arteta responded: 'We don't know. 'With all the young kids, they are in and around the team constantly they are really getting used to the dynamic, the demands and, especially, they are raising the physical levels because of the demands. 'To be able to perform and impact the game at that level, it demands really, really high physical standards. 'They are getting there. I give them a good platform and then they will have to earn it.' Bukayo Saka's 53rd-minute goal was enough to seal Arsenal a narrow victory in Singapore – before the friendly shootout – and Arteta was happy to see the forward get on the scoresheet as he builds up his match fitness ahead of the new season. 'Overall, very happy with the performance, especially with the attitude, the quality, the domination that we showed,' he continued. 'Obviously, to win as well and regarding the individuals, a lot of them showed that they are ready at a really good level. 'Bukayo is one of them. We have pushed him through the summer as well to catch up on a lot of things that he had to, to give himself the best chance to exploit his qualities.' On the absence of Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes, Arteta explained: 'Jurrien is still not there, he isn't fully training yet with us. 'Gabi had a little niggle in training and because of the fact he's been out for so long as well, we have to manage him and minimise the risk.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
