THE PUNISHER Special Presentation Starts Filming Soon and His Main Villain Possibly Revealed — GeekTyrant
After making his official MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again , Jon Bernthal is getting ready to headline his own Punisher Special Presentation on Disney+, and things are gearing up fast.
According to Nexus Point News, production on the one-off project kicks off in mid-July and will run through the first week of August in New York.
This special marks a major return for Bernthal's take on the character, co-written by the actor himself alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Frank will also cross paths with Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day , but this standalone chapter will give him one hell of a warm-up.
So who's Castle up against this time? According to the report, the villain is none other than Ma Gnucci, a classic, grotesque antagonist from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's The Punisher: Welcome Back comic run.
For those unfamiliar, Ma Gnucci is a vicious mob boss whose war against Frank gets deeply personal after he wipes out her three sons. The story escalates to the point where Gnucci is mauled by polar bears, loses her limbs, and eventually gets kicked into a burning building. It's brutal, bloody, and exactly the kind of chaos Punisher fans live for.
Bernthal seems fully aware of what the audience expects, saying: 'I care very deeply about Frank, I'm really grateful that I'm getting the opportunity to tell the story that I think the fans deserve.
'We're giving it our all and we're trying to tell a Frank Castle story that we're going to turn our back on the audience — it's not going to be easy, it's not going to be light, and I think it's the version that this character deserves and I'm just beyond honored and grateful that we get the opportunity.'
As for how this version stacks up against the Netflix series, Bernthal added: 'It's going to be dark; Frank has no interest in breaking out the darkness. It's not going to be easy. I don't know if that's the Netflix tone then that's what it's going to be. It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that.'
While Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is wrapping up production soon, this quick turnaround suggests Bernthal may jump straight from one project to the next, keeping Frank Castle right in the thick of Marvel's street-level storytelling.
The Punisher Special Presentation is expected to hit Disney+ in 2026. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is aiming for a March 2026 debut, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to arrive in theaters July 31, 2026.

Charlize Theron Uses 1 Harsh Word To Describe Jeff Bezos And His Wedding Guests
We didn't know the next installment in the 'Mad Max' franchise was Furiosa vs. the Broligarchy. Charlize Theron kicked off her fifth annual block party for her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project— which advances and invests in the health and safety of young people in Africa — Saturday night with an opening quip that made her opinion of Jeff Bezos and his ilk crystal clear. 'I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding,' Theron told event attendees at the Universal Studios backlot, according to the Hollywood Reporter. 'But that's OK because they suck and we're cool.' After the 'Monster' star used one concise word to describe the Amazon founder and the famous attendees of his opulent Venice, Italy, wedding over the weekend, she moved on to thank her attendees for 'taking the time to be a part of this, especially when the world feels like it's burning because it is.' 'Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we're moving backwards fast,' Theron said. 'Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women's rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn't just policy, it's personal.' THR notes that as the crowd began to appllaud, she added: 'Yeah, fuck them.' Bezos aligned himself with MAGA in January, when he snagged primo seats at President Donald Trump's inauguration alongside the other leaders of the nation's biggest technology companies, including Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Apple's Tim Cook and Tesla's Elon Musk. Bezos is seemingly so chummy with the Trump family that the president's eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, attended the billionaire's wedding, which Forbes estimates may have cost around $25 million. Other attendees joining the star-studded guest list included Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom and the Kardashian/Jenner family, who weren't exactly welcomed in the Italian city. Despite Bezos and his now-wife, Lauren Sánchez, promising to donate money to Venetian charities after they tied the knot, local activist groups, including Greenpeace, protested the wedding. Critics accused the couple of exploiting a city already suffering from overtourism, rising housing prices and the threat of flooding due to environmental factors. But, unlike Trump, it doesn't seem like Theron thinks that protestors suck. The 'Tully' star noted in her speech Saturday that she feels that the 'resistance' against the president's policies is a glimmer of 'hope.' 'There is power in all of us standing up, organizing, protesting, voting and caring for each other, and refusing to accept that this is the new normal,' Theron said, per THR. 'That spirit of resistance, justice and care for each other, that's the spirit that drives the work at CTAOP.' 'And although our focus is on the youth in Southern Africa,' Theron added, 'what we're really talking about here tonight is that all lives should be valued.'

David Bakhtiari pokes fun at Aaron Rodgers's mystery wedding
David Bakhtiari could be heading to "The Island." Then again, maybe he's already there. On Monday, the former Packers tackle tweeted a video from the recent wedding of current Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Bakhtiari added this: "Just happy at least one of my quarterbacks invited me to their wedding." Advertisement Love and Bakhtiari had limited time together. Bakhtiari started only one game in 2023, Love's first year as a starter and the left tackle's last year in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers and Bakhtiari had many years together with the Packers. Making the Bakhtiari remark even more interesting is the general haze of uncertainty surrounding the Rodgers wedding. Up to and including whether a wedding even happened. We know, we know. Rodgers doesn't want anyone to talk about his wedding. When you're one of the most famous players in the NFL, however, you don't get to dictate the terms of the attention you receive. Especially when you show up out of nowhere with a wedding ring. Before showing up without it. Before showing up with it prominently in the photo of you signing a contract with your new team. With Rodgers cloaking so much of his life in mystery, it's impossible to know when, where, or who he married. Or if he even is married. Advertisement Maybe the ring is a Costanza-style sociological experiment aimed at seeing whether women will hit on guys who wear wedding bands. Regardless, Bakhtiari went there. We don't know much, but we know Rodgers won't be happy about it.

The 5 best new Android apps and games you need to try this July
Andy Walker / Android Authority Keeping up with the latest and greatest apps and games is difficult, but I'm here to help. One of my interests is uncovering and testing new Android apps and games, and each month for the past few years, I've detailed the best new products you should try. The July edition includes my new favorite productivity app, yet another unique Android launcher, and a new Marvel game for superhero fans. If you're looking for recommendations, our list of the best Android apps and best Android games can be found at the respective links. Let's jump right in. Here are the best new Android apps and games you should try in July 2025. What is your favorite new Android app or game this month? 0 votes Fomodoro NaN % Marvel Mystic Mayhem NaN % Mur Launcher NaN % Phantom Tower NaN % One of SEGA's retro titles NaN % Another app or game (mention them in the comments section). NaN % Fomodoro A clean, Material-inspired interval timer to bolster your productivity. Price: Free Free Developer: Arijit-05 I'm constantly battling to refine and maximize my work life. In years past, I relied on a Pomodoro timer to keep my mind engaged, but I never found an app that enticed me to use it. Fomodoro is that app. Perhaps I appreciate its use of Material Design elements, making it look and feel like a part of Android. The timer itself packs in all the Pomodoro items you might need, including adjustments for setting focus and break lengths. A stats section also outlines streak lengths and other motivational productivity details. Marvel Mystic Mayhem Marvel fans, assemble! Price: Free, in-app purchases start at $0.99 Free, in-app purchases start at $0.99 Developer: Exptional Global Marvel I'm not going to pretend that Marvel Mystic Mayhem is my kind of game, but there are plenty of things I really like about this new title. For one, the cutscenes resemble comic book pages with striking visuals. There are plenty of heroes to play as (and battle against), from the Hulk to Scarlet Witch. The game is a team-based auto-battler. Each character's list of attacks is triggered by swiping on a card. The gameplay can feel nebulous, and I never found tactics to play all that big of a role. Nevertheless, some Marvel fans and those who enjoy the game's RPG elements will get a kick out of it. Mur Launcher This new Android launcher takes a leaf from Windows Phone's playbook. Price: Free, in-app purchases from $0.99 Free, in-app purchases from $0.99 Developer: Incendiary Pigs I'm a simple man: I see a promising new launcher, I include it on this list. Mur Launcher is the latest to pique my interest, and that's all down to its unique concept. The developer is heavily inspired by Windows Phone, especially Metro UI, which really comes through in the launcher's tile-like aesthetic. The big difference is that these tiles can include multiple elements, from live information, widgets, and simple icons. I gave it a whirl for a day, and while I do see the potential in the concept, the app isn't quite ready for prime time. It only just rolled out its open beta, so there's a long road still to go, and I'm eager to revisit it in a few months. Phantom Tower Why do we climb the tower? I'm not sure, but we do. Price: Free, in-app purchases start at $0.99 Free, in-app purchases start at $0.99 Developer: Horien Studio Phantom Tower is a rather cute but frantic roguelike that sees the protagonist slowly ascending a 100-floor tower by defeating waves of enemies. The game includes RPG elements, so expect resource collection, gear mods to boost base stats, and various power-ups called glyphs. As you can probably imagine (and see for yourself with the trailer above), gameplay is fast-paced, but attacks feel weighty, and enemies can be genuinely terrifying when they swarm you. It's certainly a fun game to pass the time, and thanks to its relatively low asking price, it's not too demanding on the wallet, either. SEGA's Classic free titles They're SEGA classics. They're free. What more do you want? Price: Free Free Developer: SEGA Nick Fernandez / Android Authority This month's last title isn't a new Android game nor a single title. However, it's something that you'll want to grab for your phone before it's too late. A list of nine retro SEGA titles is currently free to download, and probably won't be available on the Play Store for much longer. They're being discontinued in the coming weeks. I've snagged and tucked them safely in my Play Store library. Gems include Crazy Taxi Classic, Sonic CD Classic, Streets of Rage Classic, and Virtua Tennis Challenge. Consider this your final warning if you haven't grabbed them all yet. Have you encountered a new Android app or game that I should have included? Let me know in the comments below. Got a tip?
