Don 3 update: Will Vijay Deverakonda or Karan Veer Mehra replace Vikrant Massey as the antagonist? Here's what we know
Kriti Sanon is the female lead?
About Karan Veer Mehra
The buzz around Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 just got a jolt of intrigue. Actor and Bigg Boss 18 winner Karan Veer Mehra was recently spotted outside Excel Entertainment's office, sparking speculation that he's being considered as the new antagonist opposite Ranveer Singh. This comes after reports confirmed that Vikrant Massey has officially exited the much-hyped action thriller.A source disclosed to IANS that while nothing is confirmed yet, Karan Veer Mehra is definitely on the radar. His intense transformation and powerful presence in the upcoming film Silaa have reportedly caught the attention of industry insiders, making him a serious contender for the part.Previously, there were reports that actor Vijay Deverakonda is replacing Massey, after the 12th Fail actor chose to walk away from the project. The reason? He reportedly found his role in Don 3 lacking depth and opted out voluntarily, despite being cast as a smooth-talking scamster in the Farhan Akhtar directorial. Now, with the December 2026 release timeline fast approaching, the makers are on the hunt for a replacement. Apart from Mehra, the name of Aditya Roy Kapur is also doing the rounds. Meanwhile, fans are also abuzz about reports of major cameos in the film, including the possible return of Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, who last shared screen space in Don 2 back in 2011.On the female lead front, the film also witnessed a shift. Kiara Advani, who was originally part of the project, has reportedly stepped away to prioritise her personal life following her pregnancy announcement. Taking her place is Kriti Sanon, as officially confirmed by Excel Entertainment. For Karan Veer Mehra, landing this role could mark a significant leap. Having started his career with Remix in 2004, Mehra gained popularity through shows like Pavitra Rishta and films such as Ragini MMS 2, Mere Dad Ki Maruti, and Blood Money. His recent victory on Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 and growing acclaim from Silaa seem to have positioned him perfectly for a high-profile villainous turn in Don 3.As the franchise — originally helmed by Amitabh Bachchan in 1978 and rebooted by Shah Rukh Khan in 2006 — gears up for its next chapter with Ranveer Singh, all eyes are now on who will emerge as his next formidable opponent.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra Says No One In South India Wanted Munna Bhai MBBS: 'Got One Show In Chennai'
Today it's a cult classic, but Munna Bhai MBBS was almost dead on arrival — at least outside of Mumbai. Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer behind the 2003 Sanjay Dutt hit, recently opened up about how the film had no takers in South India just days before release. Speaking on the latest episode of Creator x Creator on SCREEN, Chopra recalled, 'Munna Bhai MBBS opened to empty theatres. Munna Bhai MBBS is the movie that made me rich, but that's because nobody bought that film outside of Mumbai." He said a distributor from South India who had agreed to take the film for Rs 11 lakh backed out at the last minute after watching it. 'Those days, they used to take delivery. So he came to take delivery four days before the film's release. When he saw the film, he said, 'Sir, this film won't work even for a day. Nobody outside of Mumbai would get the language of Munna Bhai.'" The film, known for its use of Bambaiya slang, followed a gangster from Mumbai who decides to become a doctor. Despite the local flavour, Chopra said he was surprised at the lack of confidence from distributors. He even offered to return the advance amount already paid. 'The bottom line is I had no distributor for South India. I had friends — Shyam Shroff and Bala Shroff — who had a company. There was a cinema there, and I got just one morning show at 11 am in Chennai. I sold my print there for Rs 5 lakh. My final business from that one centre was in Rs 1 crore plus." He added that it took a few days for audiences to warm up to the film. 'Nobody went to see the film the first day or the second day. But when you do good work, (it'll pay). Which is where I'm anti-marketing. Not anti-marketing, but I don't really care about marketing because people will discover." Chopra drew a parallel with the response to his recent directorial 12th Fail, which also had a slow start but went on to become a long-running success. 'Even 12th Fail started with Rs 10–30 lakh. It ran for seven months in cinemas in today's time! Two months after it released, it was already on an OTT platform like Hotstar, yet people went into cinemas." Chopra, who has also produced hits like Parineeta, 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju, said it all comes down to following his gut and trusting the story over the sales pitch.

‘Munna Bhai MBBS made me rich because nobody bought that film': Vidhu Vinod Chopra recalls South distributor rejecting film with ‘Bambaiya' language
Vidhu Vinod Chopra is not only a seasoned filmmaker, but also one of the most accomplished producers of Hindi cinema. He credits the success to his instincts, having backed films like Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta (2005) and Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai franchise, 3 Idiots (2009), PK (2014), and Sanju (2018). On the latest edition of Creator x Creator on SCREEN, Chopra recalled how no distributor in South India wanted to buy Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) from him. 'Munna Bhai MBBS opened to empty theatres. Munna Bhai MBBS is the movie that made me rich, but that's because nobody bought that film outside of Mumbai,' recalled Chopra. 'I had a distributor in South of India, who had brought Munna Bhai for Rs 11 lakh. Those days, they used to take delivery. So he came to take delivery four days before the film's release. When he saw the film, he said, 'Sir, this film won't work even for a day. Nobody outside of Mumbai would get the language of Munna Bhai,' added Chopra. Munna Bhai MBBS revolved around a Mumbai-based gangster's (Sanjay Dutt) resolve to become a doctor. In the film, the titular character and his henchmen, including right-hand man Circuit (Arshad Warsi), spoke in Bambaiya, a street language of Mumbai. Vidhu Vinod Chopra recalled offering to return the advance of Rs 5 lakh that the South distributor had already paid him, even though he insisted not to in exchange of keeping it as a security for Chopra's next film. 'The bottom line is I had no distributor for South India. I had friends — Shyam Shroff and Bala Shroff — who had a company. There was a cinema there, and I got just one morning show at 11 am in Chennai. I sold my print there for Rs 5 lakh. My final business from that one centre was in Rs 1 crore plus,' revealed Chopra. 'Nobody went to see the film the first day or the second day. But when you do good work, (it'll pay). Which is where I'm anti-marketing. Two months after it released, it was already on an OTT platform like Hotstar, yet people went into cinemas,' said the filmmaker. The film, backed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production house VVC Films, earned Rs 56.38 crore at the domestic box office. Jaskunwar Kohli's Zero Se Restart, based on the making of 12th Fail, released in cinemas last year, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

This man used to be a priest, performed pooja in many houses, later gave a Rs 100 crore hit, name is..., Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor were his... Filmmaker Umesh Shukla, known for helming comedy dramas such as OMG-Oh My god and 102 Not Out, shares that he understands the fine difference between faith and blind belief. The director, who collaborated with superstars like Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, recently revealed that he used to be a priest and performed pooja at different houses. Director Umesh Shukla reveals he was a priest While talking to IANS, Shukla said, 'I come from such a Brahmin family, that till the time I graduated, I used to go to people's houses, and perform Satyanarayan pooja, Lakshmi pooja, Nishadiya and other poojas. I used to get it done, myself, as a Brahmin. I used to go, in a dhoti and kurta, and get it done. So, our ritual was there. And with regards to that, I used to ask a lot of questions to my father, and my grandfather, and in that, I used to see loopholes. So, that came in handy, while I was working on the script of OMG – Oh My God.' He further added, 'He further shared, 'The humour and satire in the film came out very well. And definitely, working with Paresh bhai, Akshay ji, Om Puri, Mithun ji, such towering personalities. Everyone was such a strong artist, with great chemistry. Telling them that such things used to happen with me, in my childhood, and now, you have to bring it up, on screen. So, those interactions were very amazing. It was a lot of fun.'
