V&A announces first UK exhibition devoted to haute couture house Schiaparelli
It will also explore the present-day incarnation of Schiaparelli, which is now in the hands of creative director Daniel Roseberry.
Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art will be staged in the Sainsbury Gallery and comprise more than 200 objects, including garments, accessories, jewellery and paintings.
The exhibition, created in close collaboration with Schiaparelli, will be the first of its kind to spotlight the London branch of the house, according to the museum.
Highlights include the Skeleton dress, which features quilting resembling large bone, the Tears dress, which features a unique 'tear' print, and a hat shaped to look like an upside-down shoe – all conceived in collaboration with surrealist artist Salvador Dali.
The exhibition will reference the popularity of Schiaparelli's designs for film and the theatre with artworks by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, French poet Jean Cocteau, and US visual artist Man Ray on display.
Tristram Hunt, director of the V&A, said: 'Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art will celebrate one of the most ingenious and daring designers in fashion history.
'The V&A holds one of the largest and most important fashion collections in the world, and the foremost collection of Schiaparelli garments in Britain.
'Schiaparelli's collaboration with artists and with the world of performance make the Maison and its founder an ideal subject for a spectacular exhibition at the V&A.'
Delphine Bellini, chief executive of Schiaparelli, said: 'Elsa Schiaparelli's fearless imagination and radical vision redefined the boundaries between fashion and art.
'This exhibition celebrates her enduring influence through iconic collaborations with 20th century masters and a pioneering fusion of creativity and commerce.
'With its unparalleled collections, expertise in fashion and design, cultural reach, and ability to bridge tradition and innovation, the Victoria and Albert Museum offers the perfect setting to showcase her legacy alongside Daniel Roseberry's creations, which carry her surrealist spirit forward blurring lines with bold, sculptural designs that both honour and reinvent her vision for a new century.'
The exhibition is the latest in the V&A's series of major fashion exhibitions which includes retrospectives of Gabrielle Chanel, Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen.
Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art will run from March 21 to November 1 2026.
Tickets will go on sale in Autumn 2025.

A source told The Sun: 'Jamie was taken to hospital after an accident in the villa. 'He stepped on a screw in the garden and after chatting to the villa medics they made the decision to take him to hospital. 'Filming was briefly paused and everyone was really worried as it's quite rare anyone gets taken out of the villa. 'But after the garden was searched for any more loose screws Jamie returned all bandaged up. 'He was fine to walk - bosses were worried he'd be seen out of the villa and exposed to the outside world but it was actually fine.' The electrical engineer has since returned to filming and will be seen parting in the show's first ever Love Island Festival on the ITV2 show tonight. When entering the Casa Amor villa, Jamie only had eyes for villa favourite Yasmin. They hit it off, and are now one of the favourites to win the show, according to the bookies. Fellow bombshell Yasmin, from London, entered the show in episode five and quickly won a legion of fans for standing up to the boys for playing them at their own game. Love Island fans convinced star is AI bot in bizarre conspiracy theory She became known as YasGPT thanks to her calm but direct attitude and perfect posture. It is heavily speculated that the official Love Island live final will be on Monday August 4, which means fans have around three weeks until the series reaches its climax. But Maya Jama is returning to the villa tonight and not everyone will be pleased to see her, as she will be telling the cast that THREE people are being dumped. Viewers will watch as she tells the Islanders the public have been voting for their favourite couple - which will mean a pair will go home. However, there is a twist as a third person will also be axed which leaves the villa horrified and in tears. The Sun revealed earlier today that the trio includes a girl who has been involved in a lot of villa drama. A source said: 'Love Island fans know a dumping usually follows a favourite couple vote and it often happens during format points like themed parties - so there's no surprise in that. 'But the fact a third islander got the boot is a real shock twist and it left the cast horrified and in tears. 'They thought the cull was over after a couple were shown the door. Diogo Jota's widow shares emotional message a month after Liverpool star's tragic death
The widow of Diogo Jota has taken to social media for the first time since the Liverpool footballer's tragic passing. Rute Cardoso posted a touching photograph on Instagram showing the couple hand-in-hand at their wedding, which occurred just a fortnight before Jota, aged 28, and his brother tragically lost their lives in a car accident. "1 month of our 'until death do us part'," Cardoso penned alongside the image. "Forever, your little white girl." The couple was blessed with three children: two sons named Dinis and Duarte, and a daughter whose name hasn't been disclosed. The devastating incident that claimed the life of the Liverpool striker and his sibling, Andre Silva, happened in Spain on the early morning of Thursday, July 3. Spanish authorities have indicated that all current evidence suggests Jota was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini during the crash. Family and friends of the brothers, along with both former and current Liverpool players and teammates from Jota's national squad, gathered in Portugal to pay their respects at the funeral. New Nintendo Switch 2 bundle announced as console breaks another sales record
Mega Dragonite is the first new mega evolution in over a decade (The Pokémon Company) The Nintendo Switch 2 is being bundled with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as the latest Pokémon Presents reveals new surprises. The Pokémon Company has held its latest Pokémon Presents showcase, and the results were strangely underwhelming. Anyone hoping for a Gen 10 tease, or a surprising new spin-off, will have come away disappointed, as it mostly featured only updates on mobile games and a new Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer. It was not without a few surprises, but the most significant of the lot wasn't actually shared during the showcase: a new Nintendo Switch 2 bundle that'll be available for pre-order in less than 24 hours. The news was revealed on Nintendo's social media accounts, once the showcase wrapped, and as you can probably guess, it will include both the console and a copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It will launch the same day as the game on October 16. Nintendo doesn't specify if the bundled game will be a physical or digital version, but it's almost certainly the latter, if the Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza bundles are anything to go by. Expert, exclusive gaming analysis Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. There's also no pricing at the moment, but with pre-orders opening tomorrow on July 23, you won't need to wait long to find out. Although we can estimate based on the prices of the other two Switch 2 bundles. While the Mario Kart World bundle costs £429.99, and thus saves money on the game itself, the Donkey Kong Bananza bundle is £454.98, which is exactly how much you'd spend if you bought the Switch 2 console and a digital copy of the game separately. Assuming Nintendo is handling the Pokémon Legends: Z-A bundle the same way, it would cost the same amount as the Donkey Kong one, since the Switch 2 version of the game is priced at £58.99. The Switch 1 version is cheaper at £49.99 and can be upgraded to the Switch 2 version, but with the additional fee, you'd only be saving £1. Every new announcement at Pokémon Presents July 22 A proper teaser for Pokémon's collaboration with Wallace & Gromit studio Aardman was shown, confirming the two companies are producing a stop-motion animated series called Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures Of Sirfetch'd & Pichu that will start in 2027 and is set in the UK-inspired Galar region from Pokémon Sword & Shield. A permanent outdoor attraction called PokéPark Kanto is scheduled to open in early 2026 in Japanese amusement park Yomiuriland. Exact details of what it entails are slim, but it's described as 'a space where pokémon will always be, and where people and pokémon can have fun together.' A new mobile app called Pokémon Friends is already available on Switch as well as the Apple and Google Play stores, and offers simple pokémon-themed puzzles that reward you with in-game plush toys you can use to decorate rooms with. A new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A revealed some of the new characters you'll meet, as well as rogue mega evolutions, where certain wild pokémon are able to mega evolve without a trainer. It also confirmed the game's first new mega evolution – Mega Dragonite – and that pre-orders net you a Ralts that can later mega evolve to Mega Gardevoir. This announcement comes after it was reported by Japanese outlet Yomiuri that, according to data compiled by Famitsu, the Switch 2 has broken another sales record, pushing more than 1.5 million units in Japan one month after its June launch. If accurate, this would mean the Switch 2 is selling three times faster than its predecessor and has even outpaced the PlayStation 2, the best-selling console of all time, in its first month in Japan. What's more staggering is that, according to analyst Dr Serkan Toto, Famitsu's data doesn't include units sold directly by Nintendo, so the real sales figure is even higher. Nintendo itself has yet to formally share any sales data, but after it smashed records worldwide the company is likely to exceed its target of 15 million Switch 2s sold by the end of March 2026.
