TV And Movie Recs: 28 Years Later, Jurassic World Rebirth
Welcome to Screen Time! I'm Nora, and if there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I love watching TV and movies. I also absolutely love being absorbed in fandoms.
This week, it's a little more movie-focused, as I dive into what movies you should watch this weekend, including a documentary from Mariska Hargitay that made me weep. I also share what's all over my FYP — like the Superman cast being my favorite new cast — and what we've got going on over on BuzzFeed Celeb's YouTube channel, plus more. Thanks for joining me!
It's a long weekend here in the US, so here's a super-sized weekend rec list:
28 Years Later — watch for: Jodie Comer being, well, Jodie freakin' Comer
In theaters now
It only took me one (1) of these before I mentioned Jodie Comer. My friends will honestly be shocked that it took me this long. The third installment in this series, Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later follows Spike (Alfie Williams), who has grown up on an island off the coast of northern England, away from the mainland that has been ravaged by the Rage Virus. With his mom, Isla (Jodie Comer), getting sicker, Spike decides to leave his dad (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) behind and take Isla to the mainland in hopes of finding a mysterious doctor (Ralph Fiennes).
If you couldn't tell, you need to see this movie for Jodie. She never misses, in my opinion. Her performance as Isla made me uncontrollably sob more than I'd like to admit, and I just think she brings such raw, human emotion to a character in an extraordinary setting. Also, this is Alfie's very first movie, and he's outstanding. If you're a zombie movie fan, I think this is worth watching, and if you're a Jodie fan, it's a must-watch. Also, it's currently my second favorite 2025 movie behind Sinners.
Jurassic World Rebirth — watch for: Jonathan Bailey in his slutty little glasses

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth reboots the Jurassic Park series once again, this time with Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and more. The film follows Zora Bennett (Johansson), who is recruited to collaborate with paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Bailey) and Duncan Kincaid (Ali) to infiltrate a forbidden island that was once used as a dinosaur research facility.
It's a Jurassic Park movie after all, so expect a lot of tense dinosaur moments. However, this movie was kind of lacking for me, and I think Kong: Skull Island did the same plot much better. So, I'm curious what you all think! But, if there's one thing I'm always going to love, it's Jonathan Bailey, so I did enjoy him and his 'slutty little glasses.' And, I just love how much Scarlett loves Jurassic Park, like she used to sleep in a Jurassic Park tent in her bedroom growing up. LIKE, IT'S SO CUTE! So, I want her to be able to make another one of these movies because her love for it is so wholesome.
Ironheart — watch for: Dominique Thorne and a WandaVision theory finally coming true

It's no secret that a lot of people are feeling some Marvel fatigue, but I am here to tell you that Ironheart is worth binge-watching. Executive produced by Ryan Coogler, the show follows Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), who has returned to Chicago with her iron suit and ends up getting involved with Parker Robbins/Hood (Anthony Ramos) and his crew. Dominique is such a breath of fresh air as Riri, and I love seeing her really own this space in the MCU and create such a flawed hero you want to root for.
The show really dives into grief and the lengths we go to after losing someone close, and I think it's just a great message on top of some amazing superhero moments. Also, the show FINALLY makes a longstanding WandaVision theory a reality, and as someone who has been screaming about [spoiler] since 2021 with my WandaVision Easter eggs posts, I feel vindicated. I feel alive. I WILL need an Ironheart Season 2.
My Mom Jayne — watch for: Mariska Hargitay continuing to be the best of us

I wouldn't consider myself a huge documentary person, but I love old Hollywood, so My Mom Jayne was an immediate watch for me. Directed by Mariska Hargitay, the film explores Jayne Mansfield's rapid rise to fame in the 1950s, her relationships, and her sudden death at just 34 years old. A lot of people might not realize that Mariska is Jayne's daughter, so it's a documentary that allows Mariska to really come to terms with who her mom was outside of Hollywood's 'smartest dumb blonde.'
It's just a moving portrait of family and grief, and it even includes Mariska finally revealing that Mickey Hargitay wasn't actually her biological father, a secret she's held onto for 30 years despite it being a much-discussed Hollywood rumor. I sobbed through this movie, especially when Mariska's husband, Peter Hermann, surprises her with Jayne's piano.

Project Hail Mary released its first trailer this week, and it's easily one of my most anticipated movies of 2026. I just finished the book a few weeks ago, and I highly encourage reading it before the movie. I am so hyped, as is the rest of my timeline:
Based on the book by Andy Weir, Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a teacher who is suddenly recruited to become an astronaut in order to help save Earth's dying sun. The story unfolds with us seeing how Ryland ended up in space, as he wakes up with amnesia, unsure of what happened to him and how he got to space. You can watch the trailer below:
This week, over on BuzzFeed Celeb, we had the adorable cast of Squid Game Season 3 — Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yu-ri, and Yim Si-wan — play with puppies while answering all of our questions about themselves and the final season of the hit Netflix series. They were so wholesome, the puppies were absolutely chaotic, and it made me love this cast even more. We talked about which scenes they couldn't get through without laughing, what it was like working with T.O.P., the celebs they've been surprised to find out are fans of Squid Game, and so much more.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth' roars to top of the box office
Dinosaurs are alive and well at the box office as Universal's 'Jurassic World Rebirth' trampled competitors, grossing $147 million domestically over five days of the Fourth of July weekend. The fourth installment of the 'Jurassic World' series outperformed early estimates of nearly $80 million for the three days and $135 million for the five days. It nearly matched its predecessor from 2022, 'Jurassic World Dominion,' which grossed $145 million in its first three days before raking in over $1 billion worldwide. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' is another win for Hollywood, which has effectively rebounded from a sluggish start to 2025. The box office is up more than 14% year-to-date compared with last year, according to Comscore, which collects box office data. The summer season, which Comscore begins tracking on the first Friday in May, is faring even better — up 15% compared to 2024. 'Jurassic Park Rebirth' is the seventh film in the franchise, which began with Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park' in 1993. The original movie would go on to gross $924 million worldwide, or $2 billion when adjusted for inflation. While 'Jurassic World' was a new era for the franchise, calling the fourth film 'Rebirth,' and casting Scarlett Johansson, likely reinvigorated the brand, according to Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst at Comscore. 'This brand will never go extinct because it continues to thrill audiences,' he said. 'It's most impressive to have a franchise three decades old, topping the chart once again.' 'Jurassic World Rebirth' knocked Apple and Warner Bros. Pictures' 'F1' down a peg to No. 2. 'F1' grossed $26 million domestically this weekend, a 54% drop from the week prior. The racing movie starring Brad Pitt opened last weekend to roughly $55.6 million domestically and $144 million worldwide. Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of CNN. ''F1' is interesting because it's absolutely killing it at the international box office,' said Dergarabedian. '(It's) a sport that is more internationally centric than in the United States.' 'Jurassic World Rebirth' and 'F1' will face fierce competition next week when Warner Bros.' 'Superman' opens in theaters. Analysts expect 'Superman' to gross over $100 million in its opening weekend. 'The best thing for 'Superman' is the success of 'Jurassic' and 'F1.' The rising tide raises all ships,' said Dergarabedian. Shawn Robbins, director of analytics at Fandango and founder and owner of Box Office Theory, said the releases of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' 'Superman,' and Disney's 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' (July 25) could account for about a quarter of the domestic box office this summer. Robbins added that 'F1,' 'Jurassic World Rebirth' and 'Superman' will likely attract similar audiences of young men. 'Superman' could also appeal to families and younger audiences. 'It's summer. It's the time when multiple films can coexist, so if any of them are going to do it, this is a good set of movies to pull it off,' he said.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth' Roars With $147 Million Domestic Opening
'Jurassic World Rebirth' led the holiday-weekend box office, grossing $147.3 million in the U.S and Canada over the Fourth of July stretch, a strong showing for the seventh installment of the franchise. The movie brought in an estimated $318.3 million at the global box office during the five-day period. The film from Comcast's Universal Pictures stars Scarlett Johansson as the leader of a team working to extract dinosaur DNA for a miracle medicine.

Dancer, 12, celebrates double world championship win
Isla won twice at the World Freestyle Championships in Blackpool [Family handout] A 12-year-old girl says it was "mind-blowing" to walk away from a dance competition as a double world champion. Isla, from Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset, competed at the World Freestyle Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on 28 and 29 June. Advertisement She entered the freestyle solo and slow dance categories, facing up to 60 dancers from countries including South Africa, Ireland and Norway. Isla, who trains at Dynamics School of Dance in Bristol, said: "It's like living in a dream." Isla's mother said her daughter's achievement at this age was "crazy" [Family handout] Isla's mother Fiona said she was "absolutely shocked" by the result, especially as her daughter had only recently taken up dance. "To achieve something like this, being so young, is crazy," she said. Fiona said her daughter was so nervous after a win on the Saturday of the competition as she waited to compete in a final the next day.
