Ahly's Ashour celebrates Egyptian League top scorer and best player awards - Egyptian Football

Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour has marked a memorable season by celebrating his Egyptian Premier League Top Scorer and Best Player awards, vowing to maintain his high standards in the upcoming campaign.
"I am happy and proud of winning the Egyptian Premier League Best Player and Top Scorer trophies," Ashour wrote on his official Instagram account on Sunday.
"Individual awards don't come without effort — they require hard work and support from many people," he added.
Ashour was crowned the 2024/25 Egyptian Premier League top scorer after netting 13 goals, an impressive tally that contributed significantly to Ahly's title-winning campaign.

"I would like to thank Ahly's great fans for their constant support. They are always behind me," said the 27-year-old.
"I promise to give my best in the coming season to meet the fans' expectations and help the club win more titles," he concluded.
Ashour is currently recovering from a broken clavicle, an injury he sustained during Ahly's participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup last June.
He is expected to return to full fitness within two weeks after completing his rehabilitation programme following surgery.
The 2025/26 Egyptian Premier League season officially begins on Friday, 8 August. Defending champions Ahly are set to start their league campaign against Modern Sport on Saturday, 9 August.

Bayer Leverkusen extends Patrik Schick's contract until 2030 - World

Bayer Leverkusen has extended a contract for Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick until 2030, the German Bundesliga club said on Monday. Schick's original deal was to expire in 2027. The announcement came after a string of key players left the club this off-season. They include midfielder Granit Xhaka, attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, right back Jeremie Frimpong and defender Jonathan Tah — all crucial to Leverkusen's league and cup double in 2024. Also, coach Xabi Alonso departed for Real Madrid. Schick was Leverkusen's top scorer last season with 27 goals in 45 games and scored a total of 64 goals in the Bundesliga for the club since his arrival in 2020. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who was appointed in May to replace Alonso, is faced with a big rebuild due to the departures. Leverkusen's off-season spending so far has gone on American attacking midfielder Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven and former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, while the club's also signed Brentford's highly-rated goalkeeper Mark Flekken. 'Bayer 04 is working hard to assemble a top team for the future,' Schick said. 'I firmly believe that we will continue to play a significant role in the Bundesliga and in Europe.' Atalanta Rejects Ademola Lookman's Statement

Rana Atef Serie A side Atalanta rejected their Nigerian star Ademola Lookman's statements, in which the player accused the club of "not honoring promises" about his transfer. Lookman claimed that the club had pledged to sell him abroad this summer; however, they blocked his move to Inter Milan. The situation escalated as Lookman submitted an official transfer request, which he confirmed in a lengthy statement posted on his Instagram account. In the statement, he said the club had promised to allow his departure this summer if a suitable offer arrived, but is now obstructing his move to Inter Milan 'for reasons I do not understand.' According to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta saw the matter differently. The club claimed the promise dates back to last summer, when Lookman asked to be left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid due to interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The club clarified, according to the report, that the agreement was to allow the player to leave for a non-Italian club if an ambitious and lucrative offer came in. In the same context, Atalanta CEO Percassi said, 'The pact with Lookman was made one year ago when we rejected €20m from PSG'. 'We told him: we'll let you leave in 2025 for a super top club and not in Italy. Now, the situation [with Inter] is different... and as always, it's us deciding' Atalanta stated they would have been more flexible had Lookman attempted to join Arsenal, Chelsea, or PSG, rather than a direct Serie A competitor like Inter. Atalanta insisted that if Lookman is to move to Inter, it must be for the right price—specifically €50 million, instead of the current offer of €42 million plus €3 million in bonuses. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Kick-off time of August Egyptian League games adjusted due to heat: EPL - Egyptian Football

The kick-off time of the Egyptian Premier League's new season games in August has been adjusted due to high temperatures, the Egyptian Pro League (EPL) announced on Monday. 'For the sake of players and fans upon the request of clubs and after arrangement with authorities, the kick-off time of league matches during August has been changed. Games will start at 6pm and 9pm instead of 5pm and 8pm,' read an EPL statement. The 2025-2026 season will kick off on 8 August and feature 21 teams competing in a two-phase format. Defending champions Ahly will begin their campaign against Modern Sport, while their fierce rivals Zamalek will face Ceramica Cleopatra. In the league's first phase, each team will play 20 matches in a single round-robin format. The top seven teams will then advance to a title-deciding championship group, while the remaining 14 clubs will battle to avoid relegation in a separate group. At the conclusion of the second phase, four teams from the lower group will be relegated. Final rankings in both groups will take into account the points accumulated in the first phase and the results of direct encounters within each group.
