Lisa Ann Walter says she's ready for a 'Parent Trap' reboot under one condition
Speaking at an Abbott Elementary event in Los Angeles, Walter shared what would convince her to revisit the fan-favourite role. 'One-hundred percent if Nancy Meyers wrote it,' she said, referring to the director and co-writer of the 1998 Disney remake.
Walter also insisted any reboot should include Lindsay Lohan and Dennis Quaid, and thoughtfully honour the absence of Natasha Richardson, who portrayed the twins' mother. 'Dennis has said that he doesn't think it's doable without Natasha, and I understand that,' she explained. 'If it was written beautifully, maybe it's doable.'
The actress remains close with co-star Elaine Hendrix and occasionally hears from Lohan via Instagram. She even kept in touch with Quaid during the pandemic, delivering meals to his home.
Walter added that although her own kids weren't obsessed with The Parent Trap, they've had their own experiences with its legacy. 'All of my boys have said that girls have dated them specifically because Chessy is their mum,' she joked.
Reflecting on the film's lasting impact, Walter said, 'People still dress up as the characters to this day.' She believes a new version, if made with care, would resonate with longtime fans.

Mephisto officially debuts in Ironheart finale as Sacha Baron Cohen surprises cast and fans
Marvel's 'Ironheart' has finally introduced one of its most speculated villains: Mephisto. After years of fan theories and speculation, the demonic character made his on-screen debut in the series finale on Disney+, confirming long-standing rumors about actor Sacha Baron Cohen's role. Speaking to TheWrap, series lead Dominique Thorne revealed that even the cast had been kept in the dark. 'The name in the script kept changing,' she said. 'It wasn't until we shot that final scene, I'm sitting face to face with Sacha Baron Cohen, where I'm like, 'Oh, he said it. It's Mephisto.'' While fans initially believed Parker Robbins' mystical powers came from Dormammu — a powerful entity introduced in Doctor Strange — the finale overturned that theory, revealing Mephisto as the true force behind the magic. Thorne noted that the creative team was mindful of fan anticipation surrounding the character and aimed to deliver a memorable and impactful reveal. In the final moments of the episode, Riri Williams (Thorne) appears to make a deal with Mephisto to bring back her best friend, Natalie — a decision driven by deep personal loss. As the scene closes, Riri bears ominous magical markings on her body, mirroring those seen on Robbins, suggesting major consequences ahead. When asked whether this marks a turn to the dark side, Thorne responded cautiously: 'We might need to keep an eye on her.' She acknowledged the emotional complexity of her character's choice, especially for a young adult dealing with unresolved grief. While Thorne expressed interest in exploring a darker character arc, she also emphasized Ironheart's significance as a symbol of hope for young viewers. As fans speculate on where Riri's journey will go next, one thing is certain — the MCU just got a lot darker. 'Ironheart' is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.

India reverses ban on Pakistani channels and celebrities' accounts
Listen to article India has lifted the ban on Pakistani YouTube channels and artists' social media accounts, allowing Indian viewers to once again access to Pakistani content. Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, Yumna Zaidi and Danish Taimoor are among the celebrities whose accounts have been reinstated. However, several accounts are still inaccessible to Indian users, including those of Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Wahaj Ali, Iqra Aziz, Farhan Saeed and Hania Aamir. After the April 22 shooting, which targeted tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and left 26 civilians dead, India had imposed restrictions on Pakistani YouTube channels and the social media profiles of several Pakistani actors and celebrities. Tensions between India and Pakistan further escalated in May when the Pakistan Air Force shot down six Indian jets in retaliation for missile strikes on its territory. The conflict also disrupted the release of Fawad Khan's film Abir Gulaal, starring Vaani Kapoor, with a ban. Posters featuring Pakistani stars Mahira Khan and Mawra Hocane were also removed from Bollywood movie posters on streaming platforms. Read: Instagram accounts of Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Ali Zafar blocked in India Indian social media users confirmed that the ban has been lifted by sharing screenshots of previously blocked Pakistani channels and accounts. Not even 3 months into the ban and Pakistani channels are back, many Pakistani actresses' Insta accounts unbanned in India, reports say India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match in September 🙏🙏 — Prayag (@theprayagtiwari) July 2, 2025 Before that, Indian users attempting to view the profiles of Pakistani actors were met with a message stating: 'Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content'. Several Indian media outlets, including India Today and Hindustan Times, also reported the lifting of the ban, confirming that access to Pakistani YouTube channels and some celebrity Instagram accounts has been restored. Earlier, Sardaar Ji 3, a Punjabi horror-comedy starring Diljit Dosanjh, became the center of controversy due to Hania Aamir's involvement. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the Film Federation of India had reportedly urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to block the film's release due to her involvement. Ahead of the film's international release, actress Neeru Bajwa reportedly unfollowed Hania on Instagram and removed all promotional content related to the movie from her profile. Many interpreted it as a response to growing criticism in India over the inclusion of a Pakistani actor, especially amid renewed nationalist sentiment following the Pahalgam attack in IIOJK.
