Pat McAfee reveals real reason for mysterious television absence as he furiously fires back at critics

Daily Mail3 days ago

Pat McAfee has revealed the true reason for his mysterious absence from WWE television for nearly the entire month of June - he's burnt out.
McAfee has been missing from WWE's television programs since the 'Money in the Bank' premium live event, which took place on June 7.
McAfee, 38, has served as the color commentator for the company's flagship weekly show, Monday Night RAW, alongside Michael Cole for the last several months. McAfee has not appeared in his normal role since the June 2 broadcast.
Speaking on his weekday show, McAfee detailed why he has stepped back from the WWE and a hint as to when he could return.
'I will not be commentating. Continuing to just like kinda catch up on life as a whole. You know, Post-Money in the Bank, Pre-Night of Champions. Feels like a good time,' he said.
'I was getting pretty exhausted there. So, shoutout to everybody in WWE looking out for me, too. Very very thankful.'
McAfee stepped out from his role as a broadcaster to wrestle current WWE World Heavyweight Champion in May and did not miss any time with his storyline injuries.
The popular broadcaster has taken long breaks from the WWE before, typically returning to the company at their annual 'Royal Rumble' event in late January or early February.
WWE has not confirmed McAfee's return to the air for 'Night of Champions', with the show taking place in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
Most WWE talent working the show, which is still slated for production in the Middle East, despite tensions between Israel and Iran in the area, will leave the United States days before.
McAfee broadcasting his show as normal will be an indicator whether he will return to the announcer's table at the event, where John Cena is defending the WWE Championship against CM Punk, or after talent are back in America.
McAfee's weekday show aired live from his typical studio in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Dodgers hand Royals record-tying 11th straight home loss

June 28 - Shohei Ohtani hit a leadoff homer and added a tying-RBI triple, as the Los Angeles Dodgers won their fifth straight, edging the host Kansas City Royals 5-4 on Friday night. The Royals matched a club-record 11-game home losing streak. Ohtani sent an enticing 1-2 changeup from Noah Cameron (2-4) into the right-field fountains for his 29th homer -- and 12th in 28 games against the Royals. However, Kansas City led 4-3 entering the fifth, when Ohtani victimized Cameron, again. After Enrique Hernandez walked to open the inning, Ohtani found the right-field gap for a triple that evened the contest. Steven Cruz entered and promptly gave up an RBI single to Mookie Betts -- the Dodgers' fourth and final hit, but enough for their ninth win in 11 games. The Royals loaded the bases with one out in the ninth against Tanner Scott (18 saves), who got rookie Jac Caglianone to ground into a first-pitch 4-6-3 game-ending double play, capped by Freddie Freeman's stellar pick at first base. Kansas City is 0-11 at home in June, equaling the team's longest such slide set in 2023. Bobby Witt Jr. hit a two-run homer and Kyle Isbel doubled twice, but the Royals dropped their sixth straight overall. Down 1-0, Kansas City answered in the bottom of the first. Maikel Garcia roped a two-out double and eventually scored on Salvador Perez's single to left. The Dodgers regained the lead with their own two-out magic in the second. With a man on, Max Muncy jumped on another Cameron pitch that went over the center-field wall for a 3-1 edge. The Royals further made Los Angeles starter Dustin May work in the bottom of the second. John Rave walked, stole second, went to third on Freddy Fermin's grounder and scored on Isbel's double that right-fielder Teoscar Hernandez appeared to misread. Witt followed by clearing the left-center field wall to put Kansas City ahead by one. Cameron yielded just three hits, but three walks and all five runs over a career-low four-plus innings in his ninth start. May, meanwhile, lasted four, allowing those four runs and six hits. Lou Trivino (3-0) pitched 1 2/3 innings for the win. --Field Level Media

Fans roast 'painfully bad' NHL Draft change that sparked cringeworthy moment live on-air

The 2025 NHL Draft decided to go 'de-centralized' after years of having every team making their picks in one location. The results were not as smooth as the league hoped. In a manner similar to the NFL Draft, the NHL decided to let all the teams make their selections from their own offices rather than travel to one arena to announce the picks. While that opened up the floor for certain movie producers (Seattle Kraken owner Jerry Bruckheimer), musicians (Buffalo natives The Goo Goo Dolls), and even pro wrestlers (WWE 's Bayley, a fan of the San Jose Sharks) to announce picks rather than NHL commissioner Gary Bettman [all while subtly promoting themselves or their work], it was the 'Draft House' concept which generated the most backlash. In drafts of old, players would be able to greet the general managers and team executives of the hockey club which selected them on-stage and in person. With all the prospects attending the draft in LA and the teams elsewhere, that wasn't feasible. Wanting to continue that tradition, the NHL decided to set up video calls between team leaders and their new prospects, After each player was picked, they would walk behind the stage to a giant screen where - hopefully - they'd be able to have a natural, joyful conversation with the people they now represent. Instead, it led to many, many awkward moments where the technology betrayed the concept, players and executives stumbled over their words, and questions forced conversations that were met with muted reaction and delays. The most reviled concept was the 'Draft House' where players would speak to executives who selected them on a giant screen, replacing the in-person interaction from years past The NHL "Draft House" experience is only getting worse. 🏒📺🎙️😬 #NHL #NHLDraft — Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) June 28, 2025 The worst example was when the Boston Bruins had the seventh overall pick. After taking Boston College prospect James Hagens (with the selection being announced by Adam Sandler as 'Happy Gilmore' ahead of the character's movie sequel), the player was escorted to the 'Draft House' where he faced a giant screen with team executives Cam Neely and Don Sweeney. After an ESPN reporter asked a leading question to get either Neely or Sweeney to respond, the two executives did not speak. A second attempt was made to try and elicit some reaction from the two struggling executives, but nothing happened and the broadcast was forced to make an awkward pivot. This was just one of many interactions which led to social media blasting the inefficiency of this year's draft, the poor concept, and what some believed was a failed attempt at making their draft process similar to the NFL's. Some meme accounts compared it to a scene from Star Wars: The Force Awakens or the character 'Zordon' from Power Rangers - both of which involving figures that dwarf others. NHL podcaster and writer Pete Blackburn posted, 'This whole NHL Draft presentation is some of the most bizarre, sloppily thrown together s**t I've ever seen in pro sports. Every second is more bizarre than the last.' One fan said, 'They tried to make the NHL Draft a spectacle into the NFL Draft. It's failing miserably.' Another remarked, 'I cannot stress enough how terrible this draft format is. Like painfully bad. How the NHL can continue to overthink things every single event is beyond me.' Former NHL goaltender Andrew Raycroft even joked, 'Give me the old draft back'.

Katie Price left humiliated after being forced to delete 18th birthday tribute to daughter Princess

Katie Price was left humiliated after being forced to delete her 18th birthday tribute to daughter Princess on Friday. The glamour model, 47, who shares the influencer with ex Peter Andre, took to her Instagram Stories to mark the milestone, but her kind words came 48 hours too early. Katie posted a sweet snap of young Princess, who turns 18 on Sunday, and gushed: 'Happy 18th birthday to the most amazing daughter and my best friend @princess_andre I love you so much'. The post was then swiftly taken down before the mum-of-five, who is currently in Dubai, replaced it with another snap of the birthday girl. She wrote: '2 days until Princess turns 18 can't believe it xx'. Earlier this week Princess looked the spitting image of her famous mother as she posed for a stunning selfie. She sported a curly-haired looked similar to her mother in her heyday for the snap after getting ready for a Dua Lipa show. Fully glammed up with a full face of W7 Cosmetics makeup, Princess cracked a smile for the camera as the sun beamed down on her. 'What a beauty...' read the caption penned by Princess's beautician. The curly-haired look brought back memories of Katie, now 47, who donned a similar haircut when she shot to fame back in the 1990s. Pictures of the former glamour model taken during her modelling days in 1995 show her sporting frizzy light-brown locks while clad in a white two-piece skirt and top. Katie has indeed sported a number of different hairstyles over the years. After rising to stardom with her natural curly hair, during her Jordan days Katie would regularly straighten her brown locks. She later dyed her hair blonde, actually sporting a braided look during her time on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004 - when she met Princess's father Peter Andre, 52. It comes after Princess opened up about her private life in a rare interview, revealing that she's 'not a big drinker' ahead of her big birthday. She told Ok! Magazine that she isn't a huge fan of drinking because she'd 'never want to embarrass herself'. 'I'm not really a big drinker or party-goer,' the 17-year-old revealed. 'I'll never put myself in a position that would make me look bad.' Princess also opened up about her split from her boyfriend of two years last month. 'I'm feeling good. I've always kept my personal life personal so I don't talk too much about it but now is the time to focus on me.' It was reported in May that she had split from her partner after her busy career left 'no place for a man'. While her former flame remains unnamed, Princess declared last year that she was 'in love'. According to The Sun Princess, who kept much of her relationship out of the public eye, will be doing the same with the 'tough' break up. A source told the publication: 'They just grew apart, they were each other's first love so it has been tough but there are no hard feelings.' 'He's still on good terms with both Katie and Peter, Princess is really concentrating on her career right now and there's no place for a man'. Princess' reps declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline. The teen first went public with their romance when she invited him along to her mother Katie's 45th birthday celebrations in Brighton in May 2023. Katie then appeared on Jamie Laing's Private Parts podcast, where she opened up on her thoughts about the romance. Discussing her Christmas plans at the time, she revealed: 'Princess and her boyfriend are coming up with me for the weekend.' Jamie excitedly interrupted: 'Princess has a boyfriend!' causing Katie to reply: 'I know, Ed. He's alright actually.' Describing their relationship, she continued: 'I watch them, and they argue, then they laugh. They argue like proper little teenagers. 'They're both like jealous of each other and it's like, 'Oh shut up you two!' They are funny together, they're like a little married couple.'
