He requested the Speaker to discuss the alleged security lapses that led to the Pahalgam terror attack, followed by the foreign policy post Operation Sindoor.
"Matter: Glaring security lapses that led to the Pahalgam terror attack, the questionable foreign policy handling in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the recent claim by the US President that five Indian fighter jets were shot down, and the conspicuous silence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister even after 24 public statements by the US President taking credit for India's ceasefire," the notice read.
Listing the Grounds for adjournment, Tagore added, "1. The horrific terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians has shaken the conscience of the nation. The attack exposes serious intelligence and security failures, despite repeated warnings about cross-border infiltration and terror threats in Jammu & Kashmir."

"2. In response, our brave men and women in uniform executed Operation Sindoor with unmatched courage, discipline, and patriotism. The entire House salutes their sacrifice and commitment," the notice added.
He alleged that the US President Donald Trump claimed that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was a result of trade pressure.
"3. However, the Government's handling of the post-operation diplomatic and strategic narrative has been nothing short of a foreign policy disaster. The US President has gone on record 24 times claiming that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was negotiated by him, often under the guise of trade pressure. These repeated statements have gone uncontested by India's leadership," Tagore wrote.
He added, "4. In his most recent remark, the US President claimed that five Indian fighter jets were shot down--a revelation that, if true, has not been placed before Parliament or the public. If false, it requires urgent rebuttal. Either way, this silence erodes trust in the Government's transparency on national security matters."
The Congress MP also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent amid President Trump's claims.
"5. The Hon'ble Prime Minister's complete silence on these repeated and increasingly provocative foreign assertions has created confusion, diminished India's diplomatic standing, and undermined confidence in the Government's strategic clarity," the notice read.
"6. To compound this, the Chief of Defence Staff made disclosures about Operation Sindoor on foreign soil, bypassing Parliament, raising further concerns over procedural accountability in national defence matters," he added.
He requested the Speaker to suspend other business of the House and take up the matter for discussion in the Lok Sabha.
"In view of the seriousness of the issues involved--national security lapses, erosion of sovereign decision-making, and weakening of India's international image--I request that all other business of the House be suspended to take up this matter of urgent national importance," Tagore wrote.
Meanwhile, writing to the Secretary General, Rajya Sabha, ongress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala gave a notice requesting Suspension of Business in the House.
Surjewala wrote, "Under Rule 267 (Notice of Motion for Suspension of Rules) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Council of States (Rajya Sabha), I hereby give notice of my intention to move the following motion:- I hereby give notice under Rule 267 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Subha) of my intention to move the following motion for the suspension of business listed for 21 July 2025: "That this House suspend Zero Hour and the relevant rules pertaining to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to discuss the concems arising out of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam and India's response thenugh Oporation Sindoor"."
The
Monsoon Session
of Parliament is set to begin today on a stormy note with Opposition INDIA bloc gearing to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Centre on several key issues, including Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Air India (AI) 171 crash.
The session will continue on August 21, with a break from August 12 to August 18. There will be a total of 21 sittings across 32 days.

MP Prajwal Revanna To Be Sentenced In Rape Case Today

The court on Friday pronounced Revanna guilty in the obscene video and rape case. Judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat delivered the verdict. The court is scheduled to announce the quantum of punishment on Saturday, after allowing the convict, Prajwal Revanna, and his counsel to make their final submissions on the conviction. Prajwal Revanna was produced before the court, and as soon as the verdict was pronounced, he was seen with tears in his eyes, wiping them while seated inside the courtroom. After stepping out of the court hall, he sat down in a chair in visible despair and broke down, unable to process the shock. The court deferred the judgment on July 30, citing the need for certain clarifications. After seeking inputs from both sides and issuing directions, the matter was adjourned until this day. He was arrested last year and has been in jail for 14 months. The case in question pertains to a rape complaint and other charges filed by a domestic worker from K.R. Nagar against Prajwal Revanna. The court has reviewed 26 pieces of evidence in connection with the case. Prajwal Revanna faces three other similar cases. Videos allegedly showing Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulting women and recording the acts surfaced during the 2024 Lok Sabha election period. Following this, Prajwal fled the country. A victim from Holenarasipura initially filed a police complaint against him. Upon his return to Bengaluru on May 31, 2024, he was arrested by the Bengaluru Police. His return came after public appeals from former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. Prajwal was lodged in Bengaluru Central Jail, and his multiple bail pleas were outrightly rejected by all courts. One of the videos that caused widespread outrage during the election period shows the alleged sexual assault on an elderly domestic worker at a farmhouse in Holenarasipura. In the video, the woman is seen pleading with Prajwal to spare her, stating that she had served food to his father and other family elders. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had filed cases under IPC Sections 376(2)(n) (repeated rape on the same woman), 506 (criminal intimidation), 354A(1) (unwelcome physical contact and advances, sexual demands), 354B (use of criminal force with intent to disrobe), 354C (voyeurism -- capturing images of a woman engaged in a private act without her consent), along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Police had collected strong evidence in this particular case. They recorded the statement of the victim, collected the samples of semen of Prajwal Revanna from the clothes of the victim, and also obtained the video of the sexual assault.

Trump removes official overseeing jobs data after dismal US employment report for July

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Friday removed the head of the agency that produces the monthly jobs figures after a report showed hiring slowed in July and was much weaker in May and June than previously reported. Trump, in a post on his social media platform, alleged that the figures were manipulated for political reasons and said that Erika McEntarfer, the director of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden, should be fired. He provided no evidence for the charge. 'I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY,' Trump said on Truth Social. 'She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified.' Trump later posted: 'In my opinion, today's Jobs Numbers were RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad.' The charge that the data was faked is an explosive one that threatens to undercut the political legitimacy of the US government's economic data, which has long been seen as the 'gold standard' of economic measurement globally. Economists and Wall Street investors have for decades generally accepted the data as free from political bias. Trump's move to fire McEntarfer represented another extraordinary assertion of presidential power. He has wielded the authority of the White House to try to control the world's international trade system, media companies, America's top universities and Congress' constitutional power of the purse, among other institutions.

JDS leader slams Congress over khata fee hike

BENGALURU: Former JDS MLC H M Ramesh Gowda has criticised the ruling Congress government for imposing exorbitant charges—ranging from Rs 2 to Rs 3 lakh—for converting B Khata to A Khata within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits. Gowda also termed the process as 'big bogus'. If the matter goes to court, the government will be reprimanded, he added. Addressing a press conference on Friday, he said that earlier, BBMP was levying a tax of Rs 13,800 per square meter. This tax rate has been increased by an average of 1,000% by the state government, and this will lead to an increase from Rs 3-6 lakh rupees. The state government charged Rs 250 per square meter in 2007, and under the present government led by Siddaramaiah, the rate has been increased to over Rs 2,000 per square foot, he alleged. On 25-07-2025, the state government issued an order and created confusion by announcing the issue of 'A' Khata to 'B' Khata holders. The purpose of this government is to make money, and it does not care about the people. Expressing solidarity with Gowda, senior party leader K A Thippeswamy said that a 'tax raj' is being created in the city in the name of Greater Bangalore. 'The state Congress government is looting the people of the city in the name of tax. Our party will wage all kinds of struggles against this loot,' he said.
