Marathi actor Tushar Ghadigaonkar passes away at 34; Remembered for his work in TV, films and theatre
Marathi actor Tushar Ghadigaonkar was found dead at his residence in Mumbai's Goregaon West on June 20.
The 34-year-old artist's sudden demise has left the Marathi entertainment industry and his fans in shock.
Found unresponsive at home
As reported by ANI, according to the Mumbai Police, a distress message was received from the control room stating that an unconscious person was discovered in Room No. 102, R4 building on Ram Mandir Road.
The police found Tushar lying unresponsive on the ground when they arrived at the scene. He was immediately taken to Trauma Care Hospital, where the medical officer declared him "brought dead".
Police investigations revealed that Tushar had been struggling with alcohol addiction and had been under mental stress for the past year.

A statement from his family members confirmed that they harbored no suspicion or complaint regarding the circumstances of his death. The statement read, "A message was received from the main control room stating that an unconscious person was found in Room No. 102, R4, Ram Mandir Road, Mumbai's Goregaon West, and police assistance was required. Upon reaching the location, an unconscious individual was found lying on the ground.
He was transported to Trauma Care Hospital, where the medical officer examined him and declared him brought dead."
His impactful performances
Tushar made a name for himself with performances in popular Marathi television shows. Some of his prominent works include Lavangi Mirchi, Man Kasturi Re, Sukhacha Sarinni He Man Baware, and Sakha Mazha Pandurang on Sun Marathi.
His role in the Marathi series Tumchi Mulgi, directed by Bhimrao Mude, brought him considerable recognition.
In Hindi cinema, he was seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production Malaal, playing the friend of the main lead.

'Tushar, Tujh Harvanam Mhanje Aapla Sanglayanch Harvanam Jhalaam,' he wrote.
Tushar had married Siddhi in 2022, sharing joyful pictures of the event on social media with the caption, 'New season begins.'

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 5 (ANI): BJP MLA Sankar Ghosh on Saturday doubted if West Bengal's Higher Education authorities would fully enforce the High Court's order shutting down student union offices in colleges and universities. He called them 'spineless' before the ruling TMC. 'Without student union elections, how can a union room function as a component of the college or university? All these issues are well known to the college or university authorities... They are spineless in front of the ruling party, TMC,' Ghosh told ANI. 'Now, the High Court has passed an order. But after such an order is passed, who will execute it? The principal governing body, run by the TMC party office, holds executive authority. They likely won't close the union room permanently, just temporarily for show. The main issue is that West Bengal's entire administrative system is broken,' he added. The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the West Bengal Higher Education Department to ensure that the union rooms in all colleges and universities in the state remain locked till the time the students' union elections in those institutes are conducted and the results declared. The Court passed the order in the case of a law student's alleged rape in the student union room of the South Calcutta Law College. Earlier, the High Court sought a response from the West Bengal Government on three Public Interest Litigations (PILs) regarding the alleged gangrape. The Court also questioned why the governing body of the college was not included in the case. On July 2, Kolkata Police stated that the Detective Department of the police force would take over the investigation in the alleged gang rape case. Earlier, BJP's fact-finding committee member Manan Kumar Mishra stated alleged that the police were 'hiding' the family of the rape survivor and not allowing anyone to meet the security guard, who is the fourth accused in the incident. He further alleged that there was an attempt to 'tamper' with the First Information Report (FIR) to change the name of the accused. (ANI)

"I'm stuck in lift...I can't breathe...Please save me": UPSC aspirant dies in Delhi's Karol Bagh fire
New Delhi [India], July 5 (ANI): A 26-year-old UPSC aspirant died of asphyxiation after being trapped in a lift during a major fire at a retail store in Delhi's Karol Bagh on Friday evening. The victim, identified as Dhirendra Pratap Singh, was found dead inside the elevator nearly eight hours after the fire broke out. Just before his death, Dhirendra sent a desperate message to his brother on WhatsApp, saying, 'Bhaiya, I'm stuck in the lift...I can't breathe... please save me.' He also made calls pleading for help, but was not rescued in time. His body was recovered from the lift at around 2:30 am by rescue teams. Dhirendra, a native of Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, had been living in a PG accommodation in Karol Bagh and was preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. He had recently cleared the Prelims and was preparing for the Mains exam. He held a Political Science degree and was pursuing his Master's. Speaking to ANI, Vikram said, 'My brother had gone to Vishal Mega Mart to shop in the evening. At 6:51 PM, I received a WhatsApp message from him saying he had been trapped inside the lift and was struggling to breathe. He called me too and said, 'Mujhe bacha lo, main lift mein phas gaya hoon, saans phool rahi hai'.' 'He was the most disciplined and hard-working person. He wanted to serve the country as a civil servant. Instead, due to someone else's carelessness, he died a painful death,' said his brother Vikram Singh, holding back tears. He alleged that the store staff did not respond and that they switched off the power and fled. 'No one tried to rescue him. Even the police did not respond initially. We kept pleading for help till late at night. It was only at 2:30 AM that the store acknowledged someone was trapped inside,' he added. Dhirendra's sister, Dr Swati, said, 'My brother is gone, but their mall will reopen. People use lifts with trolley bags every day in malls. Why did no one check if anyone was inside? They turned off the power and left. Their store will be repaired, but my brother won't come back,' she said. According to Delhi Fire Service officer Ravi Nath, a fire call was received at 6:44 PM on Friday from Vishal Mega Mart. 'It's a ground plus three-floor structure. One male body was recovered from the lift around 2 AM. The cause of the fire, availability of fire safety equipment, and status of fire NOC are under investigation,' he said. (ANI)

Journalist injured in attack in Assam's Dhemaji, CM Himanta says police probe on
A journalist was injured after being allegedly attacked by a mob while covering panchayat election-related news in Dhemaji district, police said on Saturday. CM Sarma said there was no unity among journalists in the state.(ANI) Madhurjya Saikia, who works for an Assamese news channel, was injured when he was attacked by a mob of over 25 people, armed with sticks, in Dimow Pathar on Friday, they said. In a complaint lodged at the Silapathar police station, Saikia alleged that leaders of a local outfit were behind the attack on him. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and an investigation started, a police officer said. Saikia, who was severely injured in the attack, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dibrugarh. The Takam Mising Porin Kebang (Mising students' union), meanwhile, rejected the allegations levelled by the journalist. In a Facebook post, TMPK president Tilak Doley claimed that neither he nor any member of his organisation was related to the incident. He maintained that TMPK holds the press in the highest regard. Asked about the incident, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said it is for the police to find the guilty and arrest them. This is the second such attack on journalists in the state within a week. Local TV journalist Bimaljyoti Nath and his colleague were attacked in Dhekiajuli on June 29. The two journalists were assaulted when they were returning after covering news of alleged illegal mining activities. CM Sarma said there was no unity among journalists in the state. "If we take the Dhekiajuli incident, one section of people were attacked and another media group is protecting the attackers," he said. "There is no unity among you all. You have become like us – BJP, Congress, AGP and UPPL. In fact, there is more unity among us," he told reporters in Baksa.
