United Arab Emirates (UAE) Strongly Condemns Attack on United Nations (UN) Mission in Central African Republic
The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the attack targeting the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), near the town of Birao, which resulted in the death of a Zambian peacekeeper and the injury of another.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) underscored the UAE's strong condemnation of these criminal and terrorist acts, and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability.
The Ministry reaffirmed that targeting UN and humanitarian missions constitutes a blatant violation of the principles of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, stressing the UAE's full support for the vital role of MINUSCA in promoting security and stability in the Central African Republic.
The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the victim, and to the government and people of Zambia, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured peacekeeper.
The Ministry further expressed its solidarity with the United Nations and its humanitarian missions, and the countries contributing to international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region and worldwide.

Political consultations between UAE and Pakistan discuss deepening cooperation

In this context, the UAE welcomed Pakistan's active role as a non-permanent member of the Council and was briefed on Pakistan's preparations for its forthcoming presidency of the Council in July 2025. Both sides underscored the value of continued coordination on Security Council matters and reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing peace, stability, and constructive solutions to regional the multilateral arena, they reviewed the two countries' close cooperation in ensuring the success of the 2026 UN Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the UAE and sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular consultations in order to advance common objectives for the mutual benefit of their peoples. The consultations included the attendance of Hamad Obaid Alzaabi, the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, and Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE, among other officials from both sides.

Israeli drone strike on car in south Lebanon kills one, says health ministry
An Israeli strike on southern Lebanon has killed one person, the Lebanese health ministry said on Saturday. The health ministry said that an "Israeli enemy" drone strike on a car in Kunin, south Lebanon, killed at least one man. It comes a day after Israel killed a woman and wounded 25 other people in attacks across south Lebanon. Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said the woman was killed in an Israeli drone strike on an apartment in the southern city of Nabatiyeh. Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee said on social media that the army "did not target any civilian building". Israel has repeatedly breached a November ceasefire reached with Hezbollah, bombing areas of Lebanon on a frequent basis since then. Under the ceasefire deal, Hezbollah was to pull its fighters back north of the Litani river, around 30km from the Israeli border, leaving the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers as the only armed parties in the region. Israel was required to fully withdraw its troops from the country, but has kept them in five locations in south Lebanon that it deems "strategic".

UN welcomes Democratic Republic of Congo-Republic of Rwanda peace agreement signing
28 June 2025 16:01 NEW YORK (AGENCIES)THE UN Chief welcomed the signing of a peace agreement on June 27 in Washington, DC, by the governments of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda, facilitated by the United States.'This Agreement is a significant step towards de-escalation, peace and stability in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes region. I commend the United States for its leadership in facilitating this process, in coordination with the State of Qatar and the African Union Mediator, his Excellency, Faure Gnassingbé of Togo. "I acknowledge the contributions of the five co-facilitators designated by the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community,' he said in a statement.'I urge the parties to honour in full the commitments they have undertaken in the Peace Agreement and pursuant to Security Council resolution 2773 (2025), including the cessation of hostilities and all other agreed measures,' he added. 'The United Nations, including through the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, remains fully committed to supporting the implementation of the agreement, in close coordination with the African Union, regional and international partners.'
