Trainer Chris Waller quietly rolls out star mare Via Sistina at Randwick trials
As expected, the Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner was given a quiet hitout, finishing at the back of the field along with high-profile stablemate Fangirl.
Trainer Chris Waller is preparing both mares for a return in the opening major of the Sydney season on August 23, while his Australian Derby winner Aeliana and top filly Lady Shenandoah, who is set to barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Friday, could also resume there.
Tuesday's 850m heat was taken out by The Novelist with Godolphin pair Tom Kitten and Zardozi finishing fifth and sixth respectively.
Aeliana was given an easy time in her heat, finishing at the tail of the second Group Trial taken out by Palmetto, with the former's stablemate Autumn Glow third and Golden Slipper runner-up Wodeton sixth.
Waller is looking forward to seeing the progression Wodeton can make into his three-year-old season and has earmarked the Golden Rose (1400m) as a likely target for the Coolmore colt.
'It's exciting for the two-year-olds turning into three,' Waller said.
'He looks like he has come back really well and he'll go towards a Golden Rose.
'I think 1400 will suit him.'
Wodeton had five starts as a juvenile, scoring at Rosehill on debut in January and placing at his next three starts before rounding out his preparation with a fourth in the ATC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) in April.
Waller has still to settle on where Wodeton will run first-up but anticipates he will be ready to resume next month.

Trainer Allan Kehoe aiming high with exciting youngster Shaggy in the spring
Trainer Allan Kehoe is confident stable star Shaggy is ready to make the transition from one-time Golden Slipper wildcard to bona fide spring stakes contender when he returns at Royal Randwick on Saturday. Kehoe is eager to aim high with his lightly-raced talent, which impressively won three of his four starts during a memorable debut preparation during the autumn. At one stage he was on the second line of betting for the Slipper despite not being nominated for the two-year-old main event. Kehoe would have given serious consideration to paying the Slipper late entry had Shaggy won the Group 2 Skyline Stakes but eventually sent him for a spell when the gelding finished fifth in the lead-up event. Shaggy will be back at the races in the Keeneland September Yearling Sale 2YO Handicap (1100m). 'He looks like a bull now,' Kehoe said. 'He didn't grow much in height but he put on 20-25kg. 'It's really noticeable. He is really chunky, he's a big boy. 'He didn't grow any higher, just wider and he feels so much stronger underneath you.' Zoinks! Shaggy leads all the way to win the Pierro Plate and races into TAB Golden Slipper contention for Allan Kehoe! @aus_turf_club — SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) February 15, 2025 A three-start stakes run will be on the agenda if he can run well in his return, starting with the Listed $200,000 The Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 16. It will be followed by starts in Group 3 $250,000 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30 and Group 2 $300,000 Run To The Rose (1200m) on September 13 at the same venue. 'If he performs really well in those and holds his own, he will go back to the water walker or something and come back and look to Melbourne at the Coolmore,' Kehoe said. 'We won't go down a Golden Rose path with him or anything at this stage, we will keep him over the short trips.' Shaggy was given the top weight of 60.5kg in his return but Kehoe will make the most of apprentice William Stanley 's 3kg claim. The son of Sandbar has trialled up well in the lead-up, winning his most recent effort over 800m on the Beaumont track at Newcastle, and has continued to impress around the stable. 'He is ready to go,' Kehoe said. 'We just do short sharp stuff with him but he's a very easy horse to train. 'He is keen to get out there, of an afternoon you would think he still a colt because he ends up on his back heels and legs flying everywhere. 'He is very happy and well and you would think it's the middle of summer with his coat.'

Kris Lees eyes San Domenico Stakes return with exciting colt Rivellino
Trainer Kris Lees has circled the Group 3 $250,000 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) as the likely spring kick-off point for exciting colt Rivellino. Rivellino, an unlucky fourth in this year's Golden Slipper, had his first public hitout with a low-key barrier trial at Gosford on Wednesday in preparation for another Group 1 assault this spring. Champion jockey James McDonald put the son of Too Darn Hot through his paces in an 800m heat, where he finished sixth behind Group 1 winners Gringotts and Another Wil. Lees intends to give Rivellino another trial before his likely return at Rosehill Gardens on September 30. 'I'm happy with how he's progressing,' Lees said. 'I think he's matured somewhat. 'I haven't noticed a huge difference in him physically but mentally he's grown up quite a bit. 'He was never a revy horse, he was more a bit of a lad and you had to keep an eye on him. He's more sensible now. 'He's a willing colt and you always wonder what the crop is like but I think he'll be competitive wherever we step him out.' La Pelago sticks the head out to beat Last Druid with First Person in third in an 800m @gosford_races trial on Wednesday - Group 1 winners Gringotts and Another Wil followed with classy colt Rivellino also trialling. @tabcomau — Racing NSW (@racing_nsw) July 23, 2025 • What are the odds of fairytale start for syndicate? Bookies rate Rivellino as a $15 chance in Golden Rose betting while he is an $11 hope in the Coolmore Stud Stakes later in the spring. His return to the races is likely to come a week after the two horses which finished in front of him in the trial - Gringotts and Another Wil. Both Ciaron Maher-trained gallopers also had a quiet morning out in their first public trial with the stable likely to target the Group 1 $1m Winx Stakes (1400m) first-up on August 23. Two-time Group 1-winning stablemate Light Infantry Man is set to join them in the spring Group 1 opener after also having a quiet 800m trial on the Central Coast. 'At this stage, that's the plan for Another Wil, Gringotts and Light Infantry Man to get them started in the Winx Stakes,' Maher's stable representative Johann Gerard-Dubord told Sky Sports Radio.
