deputy commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal on Wednesday directed private English medium schools to complete the admission of candidates belonging to the
economically weaker section
(EWS) under the
Right to Education Act
(RTE)-2009 within three days.
This year, 3,094 applications were received against the 1,504 seats available for admission under the EWS quota in the over 60 English schools. A total of 1,303 candidates qualified.
However, only 726 got enrolled. The DC also asked the district education officials to inquire into the delay and verify if the reasons were genuine. Deliberate attempts to delay the admission of rightful candidates would prompt the administration to take action against the offending schools. The education department issued two links — https://jamshedpur.nic.in/ and https://forms.rteeastsinghbhum.com/applicationform/registered — to enable the parents to know the status of their children's admission by filling in the application form number and contact number.Notably, 25% seats are reserved for EWS candidates at the entry level under the RTE Act, 2009.

The judges agreed with the lower court in blocking federal officials from detaining people based solely on 'apparent race or ethnicity,' speaking Spanish or accented English, or being at locations such as a 'bus stop, car wash, tow yard, day laborer pick up site, agricultural site, etc.' The Department of Homeland Security and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside business hours. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the order a victory for the city. 'The Temporary Restraining Order that has been protecting our communities from immigration agents using racial profiling and other illegal tactics when conducting their cruel and aggressive enforcement raids and sweeps will remain in place for now,' she said in a statement. Mohammad Tajsar, senior staff attorney at the ACLU Foundation of Southern California, welcomed the ruling in statement: 'This decision is further confirmation that the administration's paramilitary invasion of Los Angeles violated the Constitution and caused irreparable injury across the region.'
