FIFA ask Kaizer Chiefs to pay R3 million?

It seems like FIFA will advise Kaizer Chiefs to pay R1.5 million each in development compensation for Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman, the two promising players developed by Cape Town Spurs, according to FIFA regulations.
FIFA's development compensation framework requires clubs to compensate those responsible for a player's training between the ages of 12 and 21, particularly when the player signs their first professional contract or moves clubs before turning 23.
According to this latest local report, Kaizer Chiefs are said to be willing to reach this agreement.

As reported in previous weeks, Amakhosi signed the duo on free deals due to Spurs' relegation from the National First Division to the ABC Motsepe League.

Spurs, one of South Africa's most respected youth academies, responded by formally lodging a claim with the South African Football Association (SAFA), seeking compensation for the time and resources invested in grooming the two players.
'You know, Kaizer Chiefs are willing to follow the rules and do the right thing by the book,' a source told Soccer Laduma . 'That's why it's believed that they are expected to pay R1.5 million for each player, which means R3 million for the two players.
'You remember the same case happened between Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy involving Puso Dithejane when he left Chiefs. Galaxy had to pay that development compensation fee, and that's what they could be expected to pay Spurs according to FIFA rules, ' the source added.

Khune, Katsande star at rural Zim stadium opening

Kaizer Chiefs legends Itumeleng Khune and Willard Katsande received a hero's welcome in Zimbabwe's Gwanda during a community football project. The duo attended the official opening of a new mini-stadium over the weekend, built by a local businessman near Manama. According to HeraldOnline , Khune flew back to Johannesburg on Sunday morning. Katsande chose to stay behind and watch a soccer match in Bulawayo. 'We were invited to be guests at the official launch of a mini stadium near Manama in Gwanda,' Katsande told The Chronicle . 'It was good to be out there to promote football in a way, and we hope the next generation of stars can image out of that.' Katsande revealed that he had stayed behind because he wanted to network with football people from Bulawayo. He told The Chronicle that he runs a football school in Johannesburg with many children whose parents were from the city. He added that it was good to be there and that he had enjoyed the match. The match was between Highlanders and Ngezi Platinum Stars. Manama is a small rural centre tucked deep in Matabeleland South, about 90 kilometres south of Gwanda town. It is roughly 170 kilometres from the Beitbridge border with South Africa. Manama is far from the country's football limelight. But over the weekend, the quiet village made headlines when Khune and Katsande touched down as special guests. Stellenbosch vs Kaizer Chiefs: Date, Kick-Off Time, Venue, Predicted XI

Kaizer Chiefs will kick off their 2025/26 Betway Premiership season against Stellenbosch FC this coming weekend. Having spent three weeks in the Netherlands for their pre-season, Amakhosi returned to the country end of July, where they played Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup. Despite going down on penalties, Nasreddine Nabi's men showed intent and looked positive at times. This weekend, they face a Stellies side that edged out AmaZulu 3-2 in the MTN8 quarter-finals at home. Having played one competitive match, the Cape side will probably have an edge, given they are playing at home. Amakhosi will play Stellenbosch FC on Sunday (10 August) at 17:30 at the Cape Town Stadium. Last season, Chiefs won all three encounters and will go into the clash feeling confident. The Glamour Boys have gotten the better of Stellies and that might play in their hands if they start the match well. If Chiefs concede early, they might struggle to come back, given their problems in front of goals. In six matches played in pre-season, Amakhosi only netted three times. 'Velebayi won't shine at Kaizer Chiefs' – Ex-star sends warning

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye has backed Amakhosi to prioritise Luke Baartman over Asanele Velebayi. The Soweto giants are looking to sign the Cape Town Spurs duo, but due to the ongoing case over the players, Chiefs are unable to sign them. 'Out of the two Cape Town Spurs players Chiefs are reportedly targeting, I really hope they succeed in signing Baartman – he's got the qualities to do well at the club. I'm not as convinced by Velebayi,' Khanye told Soccer Laduma. 'Look, I know there's a lot of hype around him, but in my opinion, he's not the kind of player who would shine at Chiefs. He's done well for Cape Town Spurs and could fit in at other teams, but Chiefs? I don't see it.' The former Kaizer Chiefs winger warned that Velebayi might fail to deliver like previous talented players who came to Amakhosi but failed to impress. 'We've seen it before with players like Ranga Chivaviro, Lebogang Manyama and others. They looked good at their previous clubs but couldn't replicate that form at Chiefs. That's what I fear with Velebayi,' he explained. Khanye felt Baartman had more potential than Velebayi but felt he's more suited at Orlando Pirates than Kaizer Chiefs. 'Baartman is young, he's talented, and for me, he's got the potential to become one of the best. I think he would improve a lot at a big club. But honestly, I'd rather see him join Pirates than Chiefs,' said the former winger. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
