Larry was born August 23, 1955, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a son of the late William L. 'The Chief' Snyder and Shirley Baker Snyder.

He spent his formative years in Franklin, Pennsylvania, and was a proud 1973 graduate of Franklin Regional High School.
In 1977, Larry made Austintown his home, where he built a life full of love, community, and spirited dedication to the things he cared about most—his family, his faith, and his passion for sports.
Best known to many as the unmistakable voice behind the microphone, Larry served as the public address announcer for the Youngstown Phantoms and Robert Morris University Colonials hockey teams. He was also the creator and writer of the beloved blog, Larry's Starting Line-Up, where his deep knowledge and enthusiasm for sports shone through every post. Larry had a special admiration for women's athletics and proudly coached his daughter's hockey team, bringing his signature encouragement and heart to the rink. He also found joy supporting the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds Ultimate Frisbee Team.
Larry was a dedicated member of the former St. Luke Episcopal Church in Niles, where he served faithfully as worship leader and treasurer. Alongside John Hammel, he represented the church in its outreach through Niles Churches for Housing, continuing his lifelong commitment to service and community support.
To know Larry was to know kindness, generosity, and fierce loyalty. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather.
Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary McKee Snyder, whom he married May 28, 1977; two daughters, Elizabeth Rose Snyder of Austintown and Sarah Catherine Mullins (Dorian) of East Palestine; three grandchildren, Easton, Gannon and Aayrian; a brother, Jay R. Snyder (Barb) of Youngstown; nieces, Jenny and Meg (Perry) Numedahl; nephew, Josh (Elizabeth) Craft; four grandnieces and two grandnephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay respects from Noon – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown where a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Larry's family suggests memorial contributions be made to Niles Community Services, 400 Vienna Avenue, Suite 2, Niles, OH 44446.

Canales highlighted Renfrow's performance following last Saturday's practice. "It's just the Hunter Renfrow I remember," Canales told reporters. "He looks healthy. I think everyone who's watched football over the last four or five years remembers what he looks like, and he's really playing in top form right now. I'm really excited to have him here and to have his family, which is right down the road here after this practice, just to be able to connect with him. Panthers HC Dave Canales reveals preseason plan for QB Bryce Young, starters
The Carolina Panthers will seemingly give us a better preview of their first-string squads this preseason. Head coach Dave Canales chatted with Kay Adams, host of Up & Adams, from the site of the team's training camp on Friday. Adams, when talking about the growing connection between quarterback Bryce Young and 2025 first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan, asked Canales if we'll get to see the starters during upcoming exhibition play. "Absolutely," he replied. "My plan is to play a series or two with the starters for the first two preseason games. So, I'm excited to get them out there. It goes beyond just the reps in the game. It's the night before, it's the morning of, it's what you eat, it's how you mentally prepare, it's going through your process of body readiness going into the game. Those are valuable reps—as much as going out there actually playing the game. "So, I'm excited to kinda throw that at the guys—especially some of the younger players, the rookies and all that. But certainly our starters, just playing together and feeling what that feels like to prep from the night before all the way going up to it." That was not the case last summer, when Canales opted to hold much of his starters out from the first two preseason outings. The first-year head coach was questioned for that decision, especially after the Panthers were thoroughly thrashed in their regular-season opener against the New Orleans Saints. Canales did roll out the first-team offense in their 2024 preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills. The brief outing saw Young complete six of his eight passes for 70 yards and a touchdown during an efficient 12-play scoring drive. The Panthers will open up preseason play next Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET, when they host the Cleveland Browns from Bank of America Stadium.
