Nokhatha Abu Dhabi sees participation of 68 students in first two days
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The activities of the Nokhatha Abu Dhabi programme, organised by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy and supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, have officially begun with strong participation.The first two days saw 68 students take part in an interactive educational environment that reflects the authentic maritime heritage of the UAE.The two-month programme aims to instill national identity and values in youth by equipping them with essential maritime skills. Training includes the basics of sailing traditional 22-foot dhows, swimming, operating modern boats, handling dinghies, alongside learning about sea components, weather patterns, traditional navigation tools, and wind reading.Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Head of the Academy at Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, emphasised that the strong turnout reflects the younger generation's interest in maritime heritage.'The Nokhatha Abu Dhabi programme is an ideal platform to develop the skills of the new generation in traditional marine sports. It reflects the club leadership's vision of preserving national heritage and preparing a new generation of young captains to carry the legacy forward," Al Suwaidi said.'We are proud to have reached 68 participants in just the first two days, and we expect the numbers to grow in the coming days. Daily training sessions continue under the supervision of qualified coaches, in line with the highest standards of safety and quality," he added.
The Nokhatha Abu Dhabi programme is a distinguished initiative aligned with the vision of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to support community and heritage-based events. It seeks to reconnect new generations with the Emirati marine environment through hands-on, immersive learning in a fun and educational setting.
